In this video, I cover the basics of pressure washing around the home using the CRAFTSMAN Gas pressure washer. The above link will take you to the Lowe's website. There are many other things you can clean with these, like cars and pool areas. You can get attachments specifically for those purposes. It's a very versatile tool!
Thank you Lowe's for sponsoring this video and supporting my channel!

A little advice from personal experience: If you are using your pressure washer near a swimming pool, be careful to not let the pressure washer vibrate itself into the pool.

There are two things the video didn't mention.
Over time the snap on connections will become difficult to use, especially when trying to disconnect them. It's a good idea to use a rubber safe lubricant, like silicone grease, to lightly lubricate the ball bearings in the connections. You also definitely want to lubricate the O-rings - the owners manual for my machine also mentions that.
For cleaning concrete floors, driveways, or wood decks there is a specific attachment that can be purchased for that. It works wonders and makes the job a lot quicker and more efficient. There are YT videos demonstrating such an attachment.

Great video, thanks! Here’s a tip I learned long ago and it really has helped me with all my gas powered toys that sit over the winter months...trimmers, chainsaws, blowers...even the 65 Mustang: Non-ethanol gas. Not all stations carry it but you can usually find a place or 2 in every town that does. It doesn’t seem to go bad like all the ethanol-mixed gas does.

One thing that seems to always go un-said in pressure washer user manuals and instruction videos is proper care of the hose. These are not soft rubber hoses like used with air compressors, rather they are fairly stiff, hard-walled PVC or similar material. They will kink easily, and are more likely to kink when bent if they also have a twist to them. For that reason, it is important to take care when unrolling them, and rolling them up for storage, to have them roll neatly in the orientation that the hose wants to be in. Personally, I use a hand cranked garden hose reel ,and reel up the hose while it is stretched out on the driveway, so it can untwist itself as it is drawn in towards the reel. I just store the hose on that reel, and un-reel it from there when needed.

I recently recycled a 330 gallon DEF IBC tote from my farm to run my pressure washer where I don’t have a water hook up. I filled the tote to the top which is a lot of water. I thought it wouldn’t be enough, but I washed three tractors, a round hay baler which gets very dirty, a 30’ hay rake and tedder and a CanAm X3 and all of that was barely a quarter of the tank. Pressure washers use barely any water making them the ideal low cost cleaning tool.

Really great explanation of how to pressure wash - a few questions:
    1) I've seen other places that you should NEVER pressure wash from a ladder. You mention that you may need to use a ladder to reach a 2nd story... what's the "right" way to do it?
    2) If your house has lap siding made from composite wood or similar, is there danger from using a washer like this that you'll spray water up behind the siding / into cracks and crevices and trap moisture inside the walls?
My house is only 3 years old, but looks a bit dingy with dirt buildup. I want to clean it, but I don't want to damage anything or risk falling off a ladder. Any advice would be great. Thanks again!

You can also put in a "Y" adapter with shut off valves so you have access to water, (I always need to wash my hands)

I never realized that a power washer had so many uses, as I was only going to use it to clean the sundeck and get moss off of the driveway. Unfortunately, I can't afford a $1,000 Honda engine, but I found that Briggs & Stratton engines have crapped out as of lately. That was sad news, as I have a beautiful B & S engine in my lawnmower.

Before I start mine I always grab the wand and hold the handle down. don't want that initial surge held up and possibly break something.
You should also consider using a Turbo nozzle, you may never use your green or white nozzles again. Also for your driveway/garage etc., you should try using a surface cleaner. They do a great job, in a fraction of the time. Also with your 40 degree nozzle, pressure wash your trees and bushes, from a safe distance. This will get rid of old, dead leaves and spider webs, etc. It'll give the tree a nice, clean new look.

Great refresher, thank you! I bought my 3200psi power washer "on sale", it having apparently been "demo'd" meaning a contractor bought it for a job, used it, returned it for some "the customer is always right reasons" and it just never seemed right. After seeing this video I'm going to guess that the moron either never had the water running on start-up and/or let it idle forever as I've ultimately discovered that the ceramic cylinder liners in the pump (just the water pump; not the Honda engine) were shattered. I'm installing a replacement pump today and note to self... always keep the water circulating... thanks again for the tutorial and tips for other uses.

I have a small little plastic electric 1750 psi pressure washer and when you get it all hooked up (plugged in and water hooked up) all you do is squeeze the trigger and it starts going and spraying until you release and it automatically cuts off until you squeeze again.

Hey Adam. I was wondering how long until I give my machine a break? I find online people say to run it 5-10 minutes which I think is utter bull crap. I need to ask a professional like you; how long should I let it run before I give my machine a break?

    • @tylergeikie8005
      @tylergeikie8005 3 роки тому +2

The 5-10 minute rule is for idling time. Meaning you aren’t running the water/spraying. When you are running the water, it cools the pump and will keep your machine safe. The 5-10 min rule applies to letting it run without using it for washing, etc.

How often should a brick house get pressure washed? How long should you wait in between the first-time pressure wash and second time? Had a brick house pressure washed for the first time and was informed a second should be done in three months.

Little tip if your cleaning with chemicals I throw a plastic bag over the cameras and rubber band them to prevent chemicals from protruding into the camera due to the high pressures and also chemicals ruining lens.

Before starting up, run water through the machine and wand until it runs without air coming through. Then hold the trigger down and start it up. Never run the machine without water flowing through it. Other than that, happy jet washing.

Interesting that your Lowe's offers Craftsman 2800 with Honda engine but at my place Lowe's does not have Honda engine with 2800 psi, only with Honda engine is at 3200 and 3300 psi.
