Just a conjecture but could it be that zoomer palate is more childish in the sense that they prefer straightforward/addictive tasting profiles as that has sort of been guided by the food and beverage industry which aims to make people to consume compulsively - obviously for the sake of more profits? In my home country Brazil, I sense the same although wine has always been far less accessible to ordinary people than in the US and even less so than in the UK where I've been living for 7 years. In Britain I see zoomers going strong on wine but probably following the American trend as well... but I'd also say good wine has become considerably less affordable after the pandemic and that certainly doesn't help...
It’s a really interesting thought! I definitely agree that many in Gen Z are still refining their palate, so they may be attracted to a simpler wine profile. Naturally when younger folks transition from juice and soda to wine and cocktails, they tend to enjoy sweeter styles before they expand into bolder flavors. So it may be an age and experience aspect too. I think the main challenge is financial as younger generations don’t have as much disposable income to spend on wine which can make it less accessible at this stage. Great discussion though! Thanks for the comments!!
Because alcohol has been a major part of almost every culture since agriculture and farming came into existence 12,000 years ago. Then again, so has heterosexuality.
0:30 is not pronounced "smell..ier", even though is has to do with the "smell". The correct pronunciation is / sʌməlˈjeɪ/ SUM-əl-YAY and the origin or the word, interestingly enough, has nothing to do with the "smell" - it comes from the latin word "sagma" (packsaddle).
I like to think that anything in excess can be harmful (food, tv, and even exercise). So I practice moderation! But if you don’t like alcohol at all, this may not be the channel for you 😊 no judgement!
You'll always get trolls, just ignore em! A good ole glass of wine is a human treat.
Thank you John!
Theyre all pilled out on pharmaceuticals

The question should be why is there an expectation to drink as if that was the norm?
Because alcohol has been a major part of almost every culture since agriculture and farming came into existence 12,000 years ago.

They just vape and smoke weed. Now those are a LOT better lol
All alcohol is poison
So is Tylenol, we take that as needed (wanted)

@ no. That’s why Gen z is drinking less
Yeah, sure that's why that generation vapes.
We’ve been drinking wine for thousands of years. It’s not poison.
