I'm 51 years old I live in Rio de Janeiro Brazil I watch simulators from the 80's I went through fa18 3.0, korea, falcon 3.0 su27 flanker, fa18 Jane's a10c, finally the (supercarier + FA18) best simulator of all time God bless you all SORRY my English...
@@YAHYEL-ANUNNAKI Hell Yeah, I played Falcon 3.0 a long time ago. I set up one mission in the campaign and my entire flight ran out of fuel and crashed, I had unlimited fuel on so i lived, lol. In DCS, when I run out of fuel, I try to glide into a runway, but sometimes, I just don't make it. I always find the ground though. :) If I get a better computer so I can play online, maybe we could fly together sometime.
vgamma - when you say "korea" and "falcon 3.0" you mean what's now or was Benchmark Systems' package? "exp" modes? "expanded" modes or what does it mean? I thought "Ground Moving Target" mode is all we need (to detect convoys, which is the only useful application of ground radar anyways afaik)
@@Dan20q yes expanded mode, there are normally 2 modes, exp1 and 2. GMT is the ground moving mode. with the EXP modes though you can really get rid of a lot of the crap showing up
@@Dan20q The pilots who flew in the desert used the radar to great effect. The whole radar is useless in air to ground mostly stems from the initial resistance to any new technology. Today, radar is in many places used instead of photo recon. You can get that good resolution with today's radars that can identify the type of individual aircraft that are parked on the runway without having to squint really hard.
Awesome simulator. :) I'm 42, I have been playing with simulators since the late 80s, like Fighter Bomber, TFX, Falcon, Lock-ON... This last decade I haven't seen many good air combat simulators like this one. Most are more arcade than a simulator. I really got hooked to this game due to the complexity and realism. There is only one thing that I think would be interesting in this game, which is a dynamic campaign like they had in games like TFX. :) It is just an idea. Thx for this. :) Keep up the good work. :) Cheers. :)
Awesome video Matt. Thank you! I love how u pay attention on details, always nice weather setups , everything looks amazing and so perfectly explained on professional way as always . :) Thank u
Nice add, if i may it would be nice if you add also the training for the new weapons and systems you release, for new people it isn't easy and while your videos are well done it is not enough when it's time to flight. DCS is great and one of its kind but i honestly think the sim is lacking some more training lessons, as well a better replay system. Thank you for all the work, you make possible in some extent living the dream that some of us couldn't achieve.
Yea Matt and the gang it seemed like things were coasting but u derstnadable with the covid stuff but in literally 2 weeks time the dcs sim has exponentially grown with the hornets new teeth slam and Jdam update and now this air to ground radar giving the hornet ground eyes. Also the super carrier is fantastic.
this is really the only reason I don't fly DCS to much anymore. i only fly single player and with out dynamic its just too boring. but i cant find my self going back to the F16 simulator that has one lol.
my Viggen groundradar looks sharper ,imho. So with this radar+laserpod we are able to search and lock targets with radar and send them to the pod ? perhaps several targets and one time ?would be nice to look a HARM or Haarpoon flying towards their target.
How do you select which display is being used so you can move the cursor to designate a target? I found it in the F16, but so far, no luck in the Hornet.
I'll assume you've found the answer already, but for the benefit of others who see this - you move the sensor select switch in the direction of the display. Up for the HUD and left, right and down for the respective MFDs.
About time ! Thanks for The work. Is that Radar able to Detect & Designate Targets, or that introduction does just allow a visual ? Can the Pod be slaved to it for now ? Thanks for answering.
That’s incredible ! I been training on the Hornet for the last 2 months now what great timing coming into DCS. When will this be available ? I have both stable and open beta. Thx wags 👍🏻
Simply AMAZING! Ty for the update :) couple of questions, though... can we hope for the F16 AG mode anytime soon :) ? (yes I am greedy and I admit it :D !!!!!) how do you spot a target in the midst of all the ground noise return?! imagine you are looking for a tank group, or a scud launcher... would you use the radar to look for it?
it would b nice if when your not using the + on the mouse and you hit a key on the keyboard let us know witch one u hit or on the hotas or just put it on the screen thanks....it will help a lot for us beginners...thanks love your videos
Very long range target track and designation. Imagine getting to 80 nm from the target, e.g. an airfiled. The radar will pick it up, but with bad resolution. Getting near and near, and with Expanded mode you can make maps with radar return, with enough detail to designate a point in the ground for an attack. like a building or parked aircraft. Then proceed to to a stand -off attack , with a JDAM or SLAM, for example.
With one centerline and one inboard tank, the hornet can carry 6 gbus (laser or jdam), sidewinders, the gun (which is being tightened up), a tgp, and an amraam. That's pretty darn good unless you're unleashing on hordes of APCs.
I've survived across the years and still against Covid 19 to see AG Radar in DCS World. Thanks God and thanks ED.
Luis Felipy the Viggen has had air to ground radar all this time
@@vermin1970 yeah, but look at all the things the F18 has over the Viggen ...
It's not over yet without the exp submodes the map mode is useless
Don’t tell anyone, but the JF17 has had it since launch.......

Will we get the announced Independence Day mod for the 4th of July this year?

Yes!

This makes me want to stay inside and not enjoy the summer weather.
What is the purpose of an a/g radar? I'm sure it's very useful I'm just uneducated on the matter.

In addition to what Sloppy mentioned, navigation in disgusting weather, finding moving targets (eventually when we get the mode), finding ships.
It has no purpose now
Now if only the F-18 could carry more Air to Ground ordnance.

No.Now it needs atleast the exp sumbmodes
Viper please..
They stopped working on the F-16 to finish the Hornet. It’s going to be a while unfortunately
No viper. Have to complete F18 first.
Why to me it seems to be an absolutely useless thing?
