i went to the water edge of a lake in Peru, it looked like the water level was much lower than normal.. it was also a glaciar meltwater lake so it was freezing cold water... what i didnt realise, was that the edge of the water was very soft sand and when i stepped on it, it started crumbling away into the lake.. like an overhang of sand and a cliff in the water.. i nearly fell in.. i had to quickly jump back onto my back and try to scramble backwards.. my feet and legs kept going into the water as the sand gave way.. was kinda scary.. i was on my own.. i think, if i hadnt been able to scramble backwards enough and had gone in the water i wouldnt have been able the get out again. it was pretty much a near death experience
This is how bad accidents happen. Not sure if this is complacency or youthful ignorance.. but there were at least 4 points of danger that were completely avoidable in this video. They might not seem like much, but they are the difference in an old adventurer and a statistic.
It's weird how there were stalagmites in that little cave but I didn't see many stalactites and before they built that quarry I wonder if that K was more accessible and people just broke them off because I used to do that.
