Like this comment. Please look up Tom Askjem, he has moved on to his own channel now. This is a reupload with Tom on it. This isn't Tom's channel, he's had some kind of problem with the owner of this one and has made his own channel
I've been replying on most comments. Tom made three comments here yesterday, but now they are gone. Wonder if Jake blocked him.
BTW Tom told me yesterday that Jake didn't film this video, but he edited it and posted it without his permission
He said he might have to go the lawyer way with him.
Thanks
Thanks
Huh. I was going to comment on what the ring of hearts might be. I'll go find Tom and comment on his channel.
Tom you are a diligent, earnest , hard working ,guy who makes wonderfully relaxing videos for us to enjoy! Thank you for your finds of a lifetime!
The Hutches continue to elude you.
Dang brother, I was honestly worried about you after the explosion. That whiskey bottle blowing up was crazy. I'm glad you're back and ok. I love being a part of watching this history being revealed. You're doing America an amazing thing. Most people look for wars and stuff related. The true life story, is in the outhouses of where life happened. I'm happy to watch it. Amazing stuff.
Love your explorations so much. This is the best ever. Love seeing these pieces of the past preserved. Keep on posting. I am 75 and watch you while I crochet.
The big glass marble you found at the end with the animal figurine is called a “sulphite” marble and they can be quite valuable, especially in this large size.
Apparently sulphide marble is a more common spelling. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, I switched back to the correct channel.
I still own the old family farmland homestead in Kansas. Great grandfather got it in the mid 1800's. Buildings are all gone and the land is used for hay and grazing but I'm willing to bet there are some outhouses and garbage pits somewhere.
How I wish I owned land like that. You are very lucky. If It were my property I'd be out there probing and digging right now. 🤠 Go get em! Those bottles are worth quite a bit of money.
@@toadrepublic Always be aware it wasn't very long ago that people were dying from typhoid in wells too near outhouses on the Great Plains. Two members of my family died from that away from home, drinking from wells that weren't their own. Also be aware some diseases were wallpapered over, literally, and lingered to infect those who removed the paper to reuse the old buildings. And then there is tetanus. Wear protective gear and don't dig alone.

Amazing finds and it started shallow! I can only imagine what someone would find with a metal detector on that property. Especially since it’s private property and probably virgin ground.
Congrats on your finds!!!

Unbelievable how many intact pieces❣️❣️💫🤗🤩👍 Great Dig😎
When a laymen see's a field... Tom see's a depression of gold... Luv the history unearthed
13:29 Glasgow is in Scotland, not England.
All really nice and fascinating pieces. That beer bottle was pristine. Imagine making things of such quality today.
When you find a crock or jug with the brown glaze, it is called “Albany Slip”. You can find old pottery door knobs made that way too. I am having so much fun watching your digs.

That jug is amazing! Good for you!
Love watching you in your treasure hunt, from 150 years. ago
I am so amazed at the colors and types and all your knowledge.
I think that metal thing, sort of shaped like a flower, was used for making pastries. It would have had a long handle on it. What a great collection of goodies from this dig!!! 🎉🎉🎉
I thought the same thing, but Rosette Cookie makers are deeper, so you can dip them into the batter and get good coverage, but _not_ get any on the back, which would seal the iron into the batter. That object is too shallow for making rosettes.
You are right. It was for a deep fried Norwegian cookie that was dipped in powdered sugar right after it came from the pan.
That’s what I am thinking too. The rosette cookies you fry in oil.

28:10 I believe what you have there is a cast-iron trivet. I looked up some images and found some with the same shape and very similar designs.
1:23:18 Only Army toilet paper would still be intact after 140 years underground.
It looks a bit like a rosette iron
Fascinating. Thanks for recording your adventures!

Color is gorgeous!
Never thought I would enjoy watching a guy dig around in a old outhouse. Thanks for your interesting work!
The decorative metal could be for a baking a kind of crisp cookie..where you dip the piece you found (attached to a handle) In a batter..then into hot oil
Great to see you having soooo much fun on a dig!
I think these are old videos. Tom has his own separate channel now @TomAskjem
WOW! Amazing finds today!!!
Absolutely awesome finds
An EPIC round of digging ...Thanks Tom...so fun to watch...second only to doing the digging.
Seems like you found the mother load. I love your presentation. My mind sees the people and them leading their lives in those frontier eras. God Bless
Scottish Tom, not English. Ale, stout, some kind of booze. We get heaps of the port dundas, and barrowfield Glasgow Scotland bottles in Australia. Our versions are mainly all white glaze, but there are the two tone bottles found also. Theory is, the stout bottles were shipped out as ballast in ships, then filled in country.
No I did not know that, thank you
Came here to look for the offended Scots contingent. Where did ya say Glasgow is, laddie??? 🏴
Awesome hall. Hit the jackpot!
Tom, your other channel is great, but I’ll watch this one just cause.
I have comment but I watch everyone of your videos this is a great one not a ketchup bottle Tom keep up the good work
Brilliant video
Thanks for sharing and happy hunting 👍
Welcome back! You sure picked a great dig for your comeback!
Love watching you dig, kilner still make food preserving jars I use them to preserve food
Always look forward to your videos I love the bottles you find and all the other old things you find quite interesting love your videos
I always enjoy watching your digs. My mind goes to who these people where. Their lives, etc. Every beer or liquor bottle makes me think of the man who's lips touched that glass last and what their day may have been like prior to drinking that brew.
Yep, you set my imagination on fire!!! Thank you..
Dang dude,, that's a lifetime haul for most people 😮😮😮👍👍
The iron flower you found is a rosette iron. It is used to make rosettes cookies, a Scandinavian dessert .
That makes perfect sense. Thank you.

Love the stoneware ale bottles.
My niece and I just dug our first outhouse on my property. We totally learned it from you. We have at least 8 other old home sites. They are on 1100 acres.
We know there are more outhouse locations. We just have to learn better how to find them.
Thanks

Thumbs up, been a while, history stashed for you to find
In your digs, I’ve seen a few items that looked like it was dropped in the privy accidentally, and no one wanted to fish it out. That cast iron pot was probably dropped accidentally. My guess is that someone burned dinner, and dropped the smoking hot pot when they tried to dump out the burned food!
Nice! INCREDIBLE TALENT
Those are 45-70 center fire cases, fired from a Springfield Trap Door rifle. Probably model 1873 which was the standard issue US Army rifle of the time. Awesome find!
My mom always said find the old dump site or where the outhouse was. I grew up with parents that were explorers. We off the beaten path most of my life. I've seen a many dirt trails. My dad would drive and mom would keep a look out for old homestead sites. I was trained by example and I can always spot them. Most have no buildings in site.
You can tell there were no women at this site. The women wouldn't have thrown the preserving bottles out; they would have been reused over and over.
You can always tell if there were women at an old site by what they were eating and what kind of dishes they were using. I've searched a lot of old mining sites and you can tell when it was only men folk.
mind blowing! brilliant! beautiful bottles

Hi Tom, amazing finds, beautiful colors. 😊
Great videos and enjoyable to watch.
So glad you’re back 😊
When I was a kid, I played on a fenced “Antennae Farm” about 100 acres of towers and wires. Apparently in WW2 it had been an Army Camp and they started building the antennae, then after the war it became civilian. There were tracks between the different antennae but otherwise the 100 acres was let revert to forest. Heaps of animals lived in that forest and once you were through the huge barbed wire boundary fence, it was virtually pristine. My friend and I would ride our bikes the 90 minutes to get there, stash the bikes and crawl under a gap in the fence. One day we found a bunker, a real bunker, it had a steel door and massive lock. After scouting around, we found the bunker had windows, almost at ground level, one window was corroded and with a bit of “encouragement” the wire embedded window opened and we could wiggle inside. It was HUGE, it was more an underground warehouse than bunker. Boxes and boxes stacked 6 box high in some places. The boxes marked with contents. Engine parts, whole engines, rifles, pistols, ammunition in one area. We even found 30 and 50 calibre machine guns! I looked at the Drug Store magazines for items for sale and found prices for the rifles and pistols. It was a gold mine, we would take 3 or 4 home, clean all the gunk of Cosmoline off them and take them to places to sell, rifle ranges being the best, the guys there would pay cash. The rifles had never been fired! We rapidly found they paid more if we left them in the grease proof paper wrapping and didn’t clean them up. I can honestly say those things paid for my friend and I to go to college and, in my case, my Masters and PhD and in his case a car and house deposit.
Wow. Great finds.👍💯
What an amazing dig.
I think In the past farmers used to use glass bottles of all sorts to level their fields. Glass was solid and did not erode.....offering a stable underlay that preserved the soil from seeping through. I have seen a similar cache of old glass ...some older bottles made of pottery...dug out.
Hey Tom, love the pottery bottles. Thanks for the video.
