In my mind Joey is without a doubt the greatest drummer of my generation if not one of the greatest to ever live. His drum fills and double kicks are absolutely out of this world. I almost viewed him as some sort of deity, in my ignorance as a young gun I couldn't help but almost view him as immortal. This news really hit me hard. I had no idea he left slipknot for the neurological disease that appears to of taken his life. I am thankful he went quietly in his sleep.
He was heavily into downers. Suffering from intense pain, and having to take pain meds is not a good combo. Ultimately his band probably had no choice. I’m guessing he just kept drowning and it dragged him down. RIP homie.
@@illuddivinus3309 He was def beat up that’s a fact but he left the band because he felt that he could not continue any longer without Paul. I’m got clean the same week Paul died using the same meds I was so you are correct, it’s rough that’s for sure
All I've listen lately about Joey is just how an amazing person he was. Of course, he had his demons as Sinsaenum stated; however, the way he touched people is mind blowing. His self determination, discipline and kindness were the things that make them the best drummer in the world. I'm so grateful and proud to have him as my hero and biggest influence. LOVE YOU JOEY JORDISON FOR EVER...

It is very obvious that Joey is someone you cared about. His death affected you. You don’t have to be best friends with someone in order to appreciate their life and mourn their death. I really enjoyed your stories about Joey. Thank you for this.
Thanks for confirming that Joey did in fact do backing vocals on 'Nothing Left', I'd seen it rumored but never knew if it was actually true or not. It was Josh Brainard who was there on guitar before Jim Root.
Brother,, thank you! For us slipknot fans who have been listening since album one,, that did not have the privilege of ever meet joey or the guys,, thank you sharing your stories.. I cant speak for others. But the way you tell it, i got sucked in the story like i was there. I feel like i got to know my favorite drummer just a little bit.. That was brilliant. Rob, you were so authentic in telling everyone about your times with Joey… this is the best tribute to JJ that I’ve come across. I’m sorry you lost your friend. He was definitely that. And holy shit, his drumming…. thank you Robb!!! your the best... im very greatful to have met you back when you were touring on the Burning Red album - 1999. At this time i was only 18 years old and wearing a Soulfly shirt. I kept saying to myself, Rob probably hates me LOL. My best friend Pascal, invited me to come see Machine Head at the Masquerade in Tampa FL. Me and him were in a band together, I guess you guys were friends back in Oakland Ca. I just remember, being there in aw behind stage with you guys. The tour was with Coal Chamber and Slipknot. While hanging out, I got to meet a few members of Slipknot. One of them being Joey and Mick. At the end of the night, after a few "brown eyes" lol, you invited us to come to the next show at House Of Blues in Orlando. This was probably the highlight of my life... finding myself on your tour bus completely starstruck lol. Sid and his roady had some punching game going on. the guys were just knocking the shit out of each other. Randomly the dudes from Slipknot kept coming on to your bus to say what's up, talking about how their bus completely sucked and no room to hang. This memory is just so vivid in my mind. Thank you for this, Robb Flynn. It's almost 2 months since the bad news and I'm still constantly thinking about how it sucks that Joey's not around anymore... You're right, he touched many many lives, left his mark all over the world. Thanks for the memories. This week is horrible. Not only Joey passed away in last days. Unfortunately Mike Howe, a singer Metal Church was found died at his house in the same day. He was 55. And few hours ago next shocking news. A Legend Mr Dusty Hill from ZZ Top. He was 72.
Thank you for sharing all of this with us Robb, Joey's been and is a fucking legend as a musician, but it's great to get to know how he was as a person. Much love from Spain to y'all.
Beautiful tribute, Robb. It really helps to hear those personal stories about Joey and the amazing person he was. Got to meet him but always wished I would end up working with him on a tour. Robb, this was one of the most amazing tributes I’ve heard (with the added bonus of discovering your channel). Such an awesome story to hear. In 98, I was 18 and a new drummer starting out in band so by 99 Slipknots first album came out. Joeys drumming was a game changer for me, driving me to push myself harder and to really express myself behind the drums. He was such a massive influence for me and continued to do so for the 15-16 years I played shows. Such an amazing musician. Thanks so much for sharing these stories. So amazing to hear and brought back memories since I would go to as many shows as I could back then so all those stories took place during my show going younger years so was extra special to hear. This is the first time I've seen this podcast and this is awesome! Love listening to these stories because literally listening to my teen years. If it weren't for slipknot self titled, Iowa and through ashes of empire I probably wouldn't even be playing music. The other day I watched disasterpieces and then elegies one after the other because still have my original dvds from back in the day. Thankyou for sharing your stories. Rip Joey, Paul and Alexi
tragic loss, so young. Condolences to Joey's family, friends and fans.....rough week for rock.

Now hes become a Rock God! The most badass drummer ever in my opinion. He was only a few years older than me. RIP dude.
Thank you so much Rob for sharing these stories with us! I hope other musicians like you would honor and celebrate Joey through this same format by sharing great memories and stories! I love your tribute episodes man! You sharing memories has helped ease some sadness for me, through looking to the bright side of who he was as a musician and an individual. So thank you so much. Much love! 🤘
