I'd like to point out that now that they claim Maya's channeling technique physically transforms her, it means that every time Mia appears in court, Maya actually transforms and EVERYONE but Phoenix ignores it. Also: Von Karma became Von Karmin
@@captainblue5096 The judge has noticed when Pearl transformed into Mia, but she literally just went "you're seeing things, judge" and he was like "oh ok"
I know somewhere in Day 3 of the Maya case Franziska alludes to knowing that Pearl has been channeling Mia the whole time. It's a blink and you miss it moment. But you can tell the shade was thrown at Mia specifically cause she was the only one to get pissed about what was said.
@@captainblue5096 must be really painful stretching your bones to be three times larger than normal and then have them shrink back to their original size
Here's a (not so fun) fact: Witnesses have been proven to be very unreliable, especially if an offense or crime involved the use of a weapon. What makes it even worse is the way that the police still tends to question them, often resulting in inaccurate descriptions and the loss or damage of memory of important details. Sure the game amps everything up by 100, but a flimsy testimony like that of Lotta could turn up and seriously be used to convict someone in real life. Anyway, I'm glad that RT is playing this! It's really fun for him and fun for us, win-win!
Yeah, people have poked around scientifically, and figured out that if, say, you ask a witness "was the suspect tall?", you'll get a different answer compared to "what height was the suspect?" Memory is surprisingly unreliable, and it often fills in blanks depending on what makes sense. So it's pretty easy for police to go "did you hear a gunshot?" and have the witness answer "yes," because they think they heard _something_ and they figure it _could_ be a gunshot.
@@misterbadguy7325 It is objectionable (in U.S. courts at least) for lawyers to use leading questions during direct examination. However, such practices seem to not be used during police interrogation. Questions should be: "What was he wearing?" instead of "Was he wearing a suit?"
@@idontneedaname318 Yup. In the US the police can also flat-out lie to you. When I was in high school I was the passenger in a car when my friend got into an accident. A few days later he asked me why I had told the police that he's an inattentive, reckless driver. I'd never said anything of the sort. My mom, who works for the district attorney's office, told me that it's pretty common for the police to lie like that in order to secure a confession. This type of deception can often lead to false confessions, and the state where I live recently became the first in the country to forbid the police from lying to minors during an investigation.

I was hoping for RT to play this game back when case 3 got release cause I knew he was going to lose it when he found out that the next prosecutor was a Von Karma
"For a court of law, a lot of crime seems to occur within the building." This game is where it really gets off the rails, since the developers never expected it to cross the Pacific. I think JfA and the series as a whole better for embracing that

and jealous German defense attorneys with tight security and super assains and a quiet kid turned mastermind and a final fantasy villain and an underground government experiment with witch's and medvival shit
This video proves that people in the Phoenix Wright universe canonically see what other people say as text but not through a phone, because for some reason everyone in the court room could instantly tell the difference between "Maggie" and "Maggey" despite admitting it sounds the exact same and you'd need to see the text to tell the difference
Gotta love how Phoenix Wright games give a pretty reasonable scenario that makes the defendant seem guilty, And then they whip out the classic "he died instantly but he still wrote the defendants name after his neck snapped" like everyone is hilariously incompetent and i love it
you'd be shocked how freaking realistic this sadly is. For example, a few years ago in Germany there were suspicions a freakin mass murderer ala Jack the ripper was doing their rounds because they found mysterious DNA in multiple different and unrelated murder-cases. However, it turned out that the police actually had created a non existent phantom. You see, this happened around the time CSi was popular and people saw that they used Q-tips to get samples from everything, so the guy in charge of that part of the police ordered a lot of q-tips for the German CSI unit to use. Major issue though: he ordered regular consumer Q-Tips, which aren't sterile like the ones used and shown in the CSI TV show. What happened was that a worker had propably sneezed onto the q-tips in the factory which left their DNA on them which in turn was found when the police analyzed the samples from the different crime scenes. So no, Ace Atthorney is not as unrealistic as you think because, in my example, it took them allmost a year to figure this mistake out. Yes. Seriously.

Whenever you think the writing in this game is especially dumb, keep in mind this "Takumi says he was asked by producer Atsushi Inaba (now a member of PlatinumGames) to write the entirety of Justice for All's script within three-and-a-half months. To put this in perspective, it had taken Takumi a month on average to write each episode of the first Ace Attorney game." Not only that, but he originally wrote the whole script with Edgeworth as the prosecutor, and changed it and rewrote the entire script. Not only that, but he had to write one more case then normal (even though the actual case number was 4, he wrote 5. Recipe for Turnabout was originally written to be in Justice for All.) By all accounts, this is actually really impressive. Just wanted to give this games writing the benefit of the doubt, since I hear a lot of people complain about the game and it's writing
That makes a lot of sense as to why it was absolute trash. They should’ve given him more time, three and a half months is barely enough time to think of a whole game’s plot.
I think the only issues i had was that i felt only the last episode in Justice for All was properly focused on the story, and the Magatama mechanic felt improperly introduced in the sense that i didn't know how to back out until a while after the "tutorial" part
I didn't even catch that it was the exact quote, but when he repeated it in the Von Karma voice I could clearly remember all the times I've heard that exact line.
Like that the court is confused about Maya being able to change her physical form when she has done so in the past and Mia is also in the court at the same time XD
Franziska: **explaining how maya's powers work** also Franziska: **ignores the little child who just became a grwon ass woman right in front of everyone's eyes**
Phoenix is soooo lucky that the technicalities he points out really do lead to the truth. I don't think anyone would believe "he was left handed but wrote the name with his right hand. Therefore, he didn't wright it." Otherwise. (Then again, we all know too well the kind of court this judge runs.)
The name is both spelled wrong AND written with the wrong hand. If he was ambidextrous, Maggey wouldn't have to go through all that trouble to make the glove for a left-handed person. Each of those facts alone are weak, but combined make a pretty convincing argument that "Maggie" could not have been written by the victim. It's not totally non-sensical.
It's a city with the dumbest lawyers, judges, and investigators but also the dumbest criminals that lead to the dumbest and very entertaining crimes and trials.
My headcannon is that Phoenix actually has the ability to make short leaps backwards in conversations and court cases. That's why he's known as the bluff king since he's just always coming up with different theories in order to solve a case.
Fun fact, both of the von karma's cover their right shoulder with their hand when stressed, easily noticeable with Manfred since it's like his only stressed animation, and it foreshadows where the bullet is (or references it this case)

WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW HYPED I AM FOR THIS!!!! His play through of the first game inspired me to actually buy the trilogy for the Nintendo Switch, and I absolutely loved the entire trilogy and now obsessed with all things ace attorney ( especially Damon Gant who deserves more than he got as a character). I spent 3 months playing through the games as I had Jr cert to stingy for ( even though it was summer). I remember binge watching the first 4 causes he played before going out with my scout group for a week, but when I got back, I decided to purchase the game as it reminded me of the camp, the game was spoiled a bit as I watched him play them, but I didn’t care ( case 5 hadn’t been on the channel yet as he went on break, so that probably constitutes for it being my favourite case in the trilogy and how I played through it when I was also camping so nostalgia plays a role it).
Police can also manipulate witnesses to making false or inaccurate testimonies like identifying the wrong person

@@mcskeeter5361 Yup. It's a lot of how police can get a phony testimony out of someone.

Gotta love how Phoenix Wright games give a pretty reasonable scenario that makes the defendant seem guilty, And then they whip out the classic "he died instantly but he still wrote the defendants name after his neck snapped"

you'd be shocked how freaking realistic this sadly is.
Yes. Seriously.

"Takumi says he was asked by producer Atsushi Inaba (now a member of PlatinumGames) to write the entirety of Justice for All's script within three-and-a-half months. To put this in perspective, it had taken Takumi a month on average to write each episode of the first Ace Attorney game."
Not only that, but he originally wrote the whole script with Edgeworth as the prosecutor, and changed it and rewrote the entire script. Not only that, but he had to write one more case then normal (even though the actual case number was 4, he wrote 5. Recipe for Turnabout was originally written to be in Justice for All.)
By all accounts, this is actually really impressive. Just wanted to give this games writing the benefit of the doubt, since I hear a lot of people complain about the game and it's writing
That makes a lot of sense as to why it was absolute trash. They should’ve given him more time, three and a half months is barely enough time to think of a whole game’s plot.
