The EU is starting to bring in what are essentially protectionist measures against Chinese EVs. They are using emotive language like a “flood” of Chinese EVs and claims of dumping, which is completely false, as the prices of Chinese EVs in Europe are significantly higher than for the equivalent model in China.
Germany was very happy while Chinese consumers were buying German cars. Greed and selfishness are a curse.

My experience with BMW and Mercedes is: they only care how much money you have in your bank account then they will consider if they will speak to you. You cannot tell them what you wishes or desires for, but only choose and accept, you will be told when your car is ready, maybe 18 months and you can not complain because they are BMW and Mercedes, and they are German.

Now, if European companies are not longer making money from China and unable to compete in the local European market and are no longer making money which pays for taxes for social programs, and Europe has negative trade deficit then Europe will be badly impacted by this trade imbalance and will probably take aggressive actions. China cannot win on every level and expect the world to just turn over and die for it. Europe needs to support its own economy and population.

How should this be attributed to the Chinese? Additionally, Americans prohibit Europeans from selling high-tech products like lithography machines to China. Does this also fall on the Chinese? My main issue is repairability!
Because, vehicles are the most repairable consumer product in the World, while being one of the most complex pieces of machinery in the World.
Moreover, a product can only be sustainable if it is able to achieve a long product life-cycle.
    Hence, my questions are:
    a. Will we get support from the OEM long-term?
    b. Will independent shops get access to OEM's information, e.g., the procedures to perform maintenance, or material specifications?
    c. Will spare parts be available?
    d. Will aftermarket parts be available?
These questions are what truly matters in a vehicle, alligned with the two main vehicle aspects: reliability and support - not its power, software capabilities, or price.
Because a vehicle holds too much value, too much resources, and too much man hours to be discarded easily.
However, I think people have taken these two aspects for granted - which Chinese companies have taught us we can not, e.g., on smartphones, cheap electronics, and televisions.
I own a 22-year old car, which still drives me to and from work every work day reliably, comfortably, and efficiently.
    A cheap, light, and small car - a 2001 Renault Clio, with a gasoline 1.2L 16v engine, producing 75 hp, consuming 5.5 L/100km.
It is a well-known and simple vehicle to work on, spare parts are readily available, and it is cheap (to maintain, insure, tax, and on fuel).
And, by being small, it spent quite less resources than a modern EV - while lasting 22 years, and I still intend on driving it one more year, and selling it in 2024 or 2025.
    This is sustainability!

    • @chjin1796
      @chjin1796 6 місяців тому

The structure of an electric car is much simpler than that of a gasoline vehicle. As a result, their maintenance intervals are much longer than those of gasoline vehicles. Reliability is also higher. Although China's electric vehicles are being replaced very quickly. But as long as you choose a big brand, there will be no problem with spare parts. Most Chinese car companies do not make profits from spare parts, and the parts-to-part ratio is not high.
