@@leonardnose5695 I actually live in PA and NYC is just a little over 3 hours away from here, so no need for flights lol, but drive there until nearing the city to get on a subway into the city. I'm just not sure when I do plan on visiting there.

I was actually surprised, to be honest, considering that taro cakes are yum. BUT, maybe that bakery was not supposed to serve taro cakes cs they probably don't serve up to the standards of a restaurant heh

The taro cake is grated taro with bits of Chinese sausage in it. It’s very salty, meaty, and fishy at the same time and the texture is chewy and a bit gelatinous. It’s my favorite with hot chili oil at dim sum places 😊.
I think the dollar cooking challenge could be a lot of fun but you should bring dice. Each person gets to roll the dice and they can buy the amount of ingredients (between 2 and 12) BUT all of the ingredients must be less than a dollar. That will give you a fun element of chance, but still the opportunity to cook something real on the cheap.

Oh no Lucille didn't like the taro cake? 🤣 It's actually pretty well known around the Chinese community worldwide and it's like one of my favourite dishes hahaha. Idk if the place that sells taro cakes suck or if Lucille just wasn't familiar with such taste hahaha. Proper taro cake is soft, has flavour and taste to it, not salty (like there's obviously salt in the process but it's not salty) and generally just yummy. If you guys ever go to Hong Kong, maybe you guys can....try it again at a proper dim sum restaurant? 🙈

In that first Chinese place Lucile chose a steamed Chinese radish/turnip cake. It is normally made with dried shrimps or Chinese sausage and shitake mushrooms and is very healthy but kind of tasteless.

My wife and I love your videos! We live In NC and make the trip to NYC atleast once a year as it is so much different from our home state it's just an amazing city! We travel in on Amtrak and we have used your videos the last two trips for finding food for cheap! We have ate really good the past 2 trips and uabe went to lots of places you have shown in the videos. Our last trip we were in the city for 3 days and ate all 3 days 3 meal a day for less than $50 bucks! We are headed back this August for 5 nights last week of August. I'm gonna keep my eyes and ears open and hope to run into you while we are in town . It would be really cool to meet and maybe treat you to a slice! Or some tacos!
