Fanatics has been a name synonymous with cheap, poor quality products for the fan apparel. It comes as zero surprise they've expanded their reputation now to authentics and player issued apparel.
And people ask why fans buy knock offs. Not only are they cheaper they're often better made.

Maybe, but Fanatics has produced the on ice jerseys since Adidas took over. Fanatics manufacturers them and the Adidas logo is added as a last step. Haven’t heard too many complaints from NHL players about their current jerseys.

I just got a CM Punk shirt from them today, and for a medium, it's way too small. And it feels cheap on top of it. It's ridiculous. I never have this issue buying AEW shirts.
Only 2 teams won’t have a city connect jersey this season one are the Yankees who are strict traditionalists and the other are the A’s where no city wants to connect with them
Side note: The A’s uniforms are some of the best in baseball. They’re so plain but so sleek and nice.

Bob Gibson kicked ass wearing flannels. On a side note, I remember not long after Nike became the exclusive provider of the NBA jerseys, there was a game where LeBron James'' jersey ripped apart right down the back. Nike caught a lot of flak for that.

I have some Majestic-made jerseys from the mid to late 2000s and those still hold up very well. I've seen some of the new Fanatics replica jerseys in person and they look terrible.
Hey Dodgers fan here and massive jersey nerd, I’m 48, and I’ve been wearing authentic MLB jerseys since I was 12. Initially I REALLY hated this years jerseys, and figured I’d only continue wearing Mitchell and Ness throwback jerseys, and then Shohei Ohtani happened, I had to get his jersey, I live in LA, and his authentic (which by the way was on last year’s chassis), was sold out, so I got his “Limited” at first hated it, but then fell in love with it, I think it’s awesome, the colors are PERFECT, and I don’t mind the heat pressed name and number. I’ve since bought a bunch of the Limited jerseys and have two Elite (authentic) jerseys from this year, yes they’re different, and I’m a purest, but I’ve come to love them.
Bought a lot of Fanatics merch 2 years ago. Worst quality clothes ever....cheaper and more poorly made than Walmart house brand clothing.
I bought a couple of 2020 dodgers worlds series sweaters and shirts. I returned them all because the fabric and screen print looked very poor. I haven't bought Nike clothing since

The names on the back look so cheap that I can guarantee that it will be a distraction for me any time I watch a live game on tv. It’s actually crazy how somebody came up with the idea that smaller/more curved names on the back would be more visually appealing. It totally disrupts the flow of the uniform by being such an eyesore.
I can't stand these city connect jerseys. As a Red Sox fan, I understand the connection to the Boston Marathon, why they are pale yellow with pale blue, but they wear them far too much and should only be worn once a month on special days....I have no use for these new jerseys either

Fanatics is trying to monopolize the sports merch market, including jerseys, shirts, and sports cards. And their MO has been to lower production costs to increase margins. It seems line everything Fanatics has touched has tanked its quality.

And the Bridaldress white is now an antique off white for the home kit? No! It has to be that solid bright white like the A’s and Dodgers are known for. What an embarrassment!
I used to be a Nike staff professional golfer and one thing they used to tell us is Nike doesn't make anything themselves other than the air soles in the shoes.

Majestic uniforms were the best
People were wondering why the mlb logo on back neck was lowered. It's because they not only lowered the lettering numbering a bit, but also made them smaller, so they had to bring down logo so that the space between logo and lettering didn't look so huge
My superbowl gear for the rangers WS was bought on fanatics but I purchased Nike products expecting the fabric to be higher end than the fanatics offerings. Upon comparison, they were the same material with different logos

As a soccer fan, I am glad that Fanatics has largely stayed out of the soccer space when it comes to player issued apparel & fan gear based on the quality issues in other sports. So far their only involvement in soccer is simply as an online seller of the real gear that is made by brands like Adidas & Nike or by the clubs themselves when it comes to fan gear. It is because of these multi million dollar apparel deals that clubs & national teams have with Adidas, Nike & others that it is highly unlikely we will ever see an authentic player issued soccer jersey made by Fanatics especially with European clubs like Real Madrid & Man United. The only way I see Fanatics breaking into the soccer space is if MLS decides (it's certainly possible given the fact that Fanatics manages the MLS online store) to replace Adidas with Fanatics as the official jersey maker after 2028.
Fanatics has also monopolized merchandising in the Premier League (i.e., Issue this season with Aston Villa's Castore jerseys). Fanatics seems like the common denominator here.

Fanatics has long had a poor reputation for cheap low quality products and even worse customer service. Counterfit Merch regularly is of better quality. Massive own goal by both MLB and NHL on their part with signiung u Fanatics to make their merch.

A couple years ago I bought an official A's shirt from Fanatics. After 3 washes (and hang dry), the printing started coming off the front of the shirt. I have a feeling that will be an issue with these as well, at least on the lower product "tiers".
In all the pics you can still see where the new jerseys were laid on the silkscreen set up. They didn't even try to get rid of those. Also, on that last M's jersey, you can see inside the numbers where the material is bunching/bubbling where the fabric was stretched across the silkscreen machine. That will not get better over time.
I bet these pieces of crap will cost as much (if not more) than the old school jerseys. New "technology" always costs more, don'tcha know?
I have about a dozen majestic Red Sox jerseys that I’ve collected from 2004 up until around 2013.
I love everyone of them. So much better than the new Nike ones.
After the negative feedback … they’ll end up going to old template just like when majestic was experimenting with cool base. They’ll keep the new designed templates but change the kisscut stitchd jerseys like last year.
The Mets city connect jersey should honor their past by including Dodgers and Giants logos
They'be honored the Giants since their very beginning. Their NY logo was on NY Giants caps. The blue is from the Dodgers. The front of their stadium looks similar to Ebbetts Field.

I’m glad I have my Majestic authentics, because these look terrible.
The side-by-side also shows that with the new year jerseys the colors seemed washed out, the white is not actually white, and just overall the jerseys are ugly. I guess if people are still going to buy them, neither company is apparently going to care.

Not saying these are great jerseys or support Nike or Fanatics, but I have authentic Wilson jerseys from the 80’s/90’s and with the tackle twill names and logs with the heavy polyester material, they are HEAVY! I could not imagine anyone wanting to wear those nowadays. As for the slumpy or cheap looking material, if they are indeed lighter, it certainly will look “slumpy” if the #’s and lettering are still tackle twill, as again, the weight of those on a lightweight shirt will do that… Not a fan of the new numbering, arch name and how low it is in the back, so take that for what it’s worth. This was the same issue when New Era came out with mesh back Spring Training/Batting Practice caps a couple years ago, players hated it, especially those who chose to be hairless on top… It took 2 years before they went back to a closed design this season (both probably just so they can sell more hats vs performance).
We're seeing these billion-dollar companies move towards cheaper materials and cheaper construction. Its a shame.

Bigger issue to me: MLB allowing advertisers to promote their wares on MLB jerseys. This is something that only gets worse and worse - the advertisers want more space and more ads…. The field and the uniforms should be off limits to advertising. Look at soccer in the Uk - they keep adding more and more adverts to the jerseys. Nothing is sacred. Now, non-US sports don’t make as much revenue from TV, as there are no advert breaks during the games, but in US sports there are ample, and natural, breaks in the game, so TV money is bigger. That’s why I hate this trend of US sport team owners trying to have their cake and eat it - they want to monetize the uniforms and the field and every damn thing else. Growing up, US sports were a bastion of separation of the field and uniforms from advertising, while happily making money in other ways. But now, I fear, US Sports will be the worst of both worlds - long TV timeouts and adverts on the fields and uniforms. That is grim. Once the NBA allowed adverts on their jerseys, I turned it off and have never watched a minute of it since. Same goes to other sports who choose to do that.
Having 50 different jersey designs for each team obviously isn't for the benefit of players. I doubt any of these leagues give a hoot about what the players or union think. This is one thousand percent about getting another $50 to $100 out of fans for yet another "collectable"... 😒 ...The players are just fashion models for one or two games, and these too will go into the trash bin...Do I expect players in the modern MLB to play afternoon August games in Cincinnati in flannel vests and stirrup socks? No. But let's get real. Most of these theme jerseys are nothing more than wearable pet rocks...And don't even get me started on the quality - or lack thereof... 😏
To be fair they play 162 games a year and only makes sense to add a little bit of variety in the game uniforms so that it doesn’t get so stale. The NBA experiments with uniforms yearly and it’s a great idea for branding in the modern age. Nobody is pressuring fans to buy the alternate jerseys and they’re only worn once in a while. It’s a great idea.
@@conniskowal9911 All of what you said is true, but my point still holds. One can argue that players benefit from the increased merch sales through higher salaries. Well, some do. And I'm not a traditionalist in the sense that players need to wear the same clothes Bob Gibson did. But let's face it. Some of these "uniforms" aren't even practical for players. They are designed for fans, modeled by players. You are also correct in that nobody is "holding a gun" to the heads of fans to buy these things, but again, you can say the same thing about QVC, HSN, and the entire mercenary marketing industry that feed and prey on compulsive buyers. This isn't the most awful thing pro sports has ever done. But let's at least see it for what it is...

I bought MLB authentic majestic field jerseys because I was not a fan of the Nike swoosh on the chest (on the sleeve woulda been okay) and of course the sponsor patches were in route. I will NEVER buy a Nike + sponsor patch jersey’s. NUNCA!
Those new Fanatics Jerseys (patches) are gonna look AWFUL in trading cards.
Seemed like there where rushed without the players tested them out. It’s an odd design. Fanatics is also awful. Had many issues with them over the years my advice if you want a jersey try DHgate.

I did the Dodger stadium adult camp 2023. We get the authentic complete Dodger uniform customized with my name also. Glad I got mine in 2023 before this crappie one came out!!
Put less money into the product you're making, but jack up the prices for said crap you're making. Bigger profits.
By adding an additional middle man, for everyone involved to make the money they want, quality and materials need to decrease unfortunately. If Nike was producing them, yes they would have a manufacturer, but that is it. So MLB, Nike, manufacturer would be involved and making money. Now you have MLB, Nike, Fanatics, manufacturer involved, so you added a layer. I left off distribution because Nike has started for the last years to go direct to consumer and also because you woudl have the team shops, stores, etc with both models, so that is a wash
Sorry to disagree, but Nike is not known for quality, but rather having stuff made in China and charging exorbitant prices for everything.

Fanatics merchandise is poor quality, cheaply made, therefore higher margin for them. I have a couple t-shirts from them and have never seen a screen print last so short a time. These new jerseys really look like what you'd find at a flea market or gas station.
I've ordered WWE stuff from Fanatics and I'm not impressed at all. Just feels cheap vs what WWE Shop once offered. I'll stick to Hot Topic and Pro Wrestling Tees over shopping Fanatics

The NFL lowered the quality of their fan issued jerseys as well. The reason the players don't complainf is because their jerseys are actually made by manufacturers in the US and tailored to the players specifications and preferences. All professional athletes should receive the same treatment.
It's simple... Fanatics is trying to normalize cheap jerseys. After several years of pros wearing the cheap jersey, the credibility of the junk they sell in stores will increase.

The jerseys were better last year because they were using Majestic specs. Now they're using Nike specs. That's the difference. Fanatics makes a convenient target, but this falls on Nike.

There was a time when Nike made good, long lasting product. Now it is all cheap. Fanatics has bought up most of sports product companies amd made exclusive deal, so you no longer have a choice if you don't like their chealy made official product. Same with the big universities. Expect team colors to be wrong or changed.

Those jerseys are horrible. Last name letters and numbers on the back are too small. Looks like local sports shop softball jerseys and looks cheap, like knock offs. I hope they bring back the real pro jerseys next year. While we're at it, bring back the real way to wear jerseys in the All-Star Game! Everyone wear their own team jerseys.
