Yeah I'd stick with eBay for something like a used video game console. At least there, any legitimate listing will have real photos of the actual device and accessories you're buying
Yup and if they use stock photos I skip the listing
Agreed I have 5 ps2 slims, 2 sliver that have never been opened and they are all immaculate on the inside with no dust, very clean exterior too.
Edit: by unopened I meant the console itself, the warranty seal on the console was never removed, unfortunately some don’t have the box with it. No dust was inside any of the consoles either.

@@Ghost____Rider It's been mentioned a number of times by several different people and several different videos. Plus he posted about it when it happened
It's amazing how expensive retro gaming has become. I remember being able to walk into my local retro game store and buy a Dreamcast for $50 and its games were the same price as when they were new or less. Now the console by itself is double that. You can't even find a Game Boy Advance for less than the price of new modern games unless you look really hard. Aside from other personal reasons, I haven't gotten many retro games in the past few years because it's just become so expensive.
In Japan it's still cheap
@@deadcodmchannel8150 it’s really not
@@deadcodmchannel8150 It kind of is, but how do you get it out of Japan? I’ve used Sendico and I’ll continue to use it, but you have to buy a bunch of things at once to justify the huge shipping cost.
i bought my dreamcast for $20 in like....2003 or 2004. EB games was trying to dump their stock. games were dirt cheap too. i wish i had bought like every game they had but i was a kid at the time, i barely had enough for the console and a couple games.
Just emulate
Yeah that's a reshell. I own the blue DS and firstly, the color of blue on a genuine one is darker and almost sparkly, and then the bottom and insides are matte black. Not to mention you can see the poor quality of the shell when the light hits it, so most definitely a reshell, but not the worst since atleast the buttons arent off center and printed at 1800s quality
If anything 1800s quality would be vastly better but I get that you are only saying that as an analogy
Yup third party sellers from walmart are awful ! Make sure you check who is selling it before you purchase !
Why would anyone buy old games from Walmart in the first place?
@@sovietninja6865 Why not? It's an online store just like the others
@@1ajgtwm because its walmart
@@sovietninja6865as opposed to what eBay and Amazon ? Same shit lmao
@@lonemaus562 your right, everything is the same shit just different sellers, at least at Walmart it’s easy returns if it’s sold from Walmart
About the japanese labels on these consoles, I noticed a lot of 3rd party replacements for these stickers, especially for Nintendo consoles, have a Japanese option. Maybe thats what these are, the original sticker faded and they bought 3rd party replacements.
Austin when he puts the box on the table .Easy EaSy eaSy eAsy!!
As soon as I read Walmart, I knew their claims were bs and I was right. It’s not Walmart’s fault though, third party sellers from places like Walmart are terrible and a serious hit or miss situation.
But it is walmarts fault though. They should have some control on who sells what on their website. Anyone found selling bad items should have their account removed and ban any bank account linked to their initial account to be linked again!
Okay Boomer
@@DankMilkGamerz Okay boomer its just like Amazon,Ebay, etc, Grow up because no one will be able to help you go cry to the BBB and see what they do.
Austin, the reason people are buying more Xbox 360s is because the modding is awesome. There are so many games that aren't backwards compatible on X1 or newer consoles and they can essentially all be run on a modded 360. Potentially also could be run on a modded XB1 but for many that's still a primary console and the modding can cause bans fairly easily on the newer consoles.
the modding? isn't modding a 360 like one of the hardest consoles to mod? No thank you, I'd rather just make a small form factor gaming pc and make it a couch gaming machine
@@HearMeLearn not anymore actually. its pretty easy now actually. not as easy as something like the wii mind you, but still easy.
@@HearMeLearn its easy now
@@conwaylitty6414 can you link me to a tutorial? Is it soft modding easy, or do you still need to mod chip and solder wires and shit
@@zach2beat can you softmod one?
I like how you say return to phisical stores that's not the case for items that are not shipped and sold by Walmart. Items not shipped and sold by Walmart can't be returned at a physical Walmart store and has to be returned back to the third party seller. I work for Walmart and i have to deal with that.
You can return them to the physical store, in a vast majority of cases. But, they have to be shipped back to the the company who shipped and sold the product. We just slap a shipping label on it and ship it back. Down side is the third party is in charge of the refund, not Walmart.
Never knew about the Wii mini. Actually looked pretty cool. Nice aesthetic
@TokyoFool the fact I never knew it existed probably says a lot about it lol
It had no way to connect to the internet, even before the Wii online was shut down. So no Virtual Console/connected apps/Netflix. Also no Gamecube support.
@@MSUHitman yes, and no. Those parts were modular, so if you had an original WiFi connector and Gamecube controller board you could open the Wii mini, and plug them into the motherboard restoring those features.
@@burningfarts Why would you do that when you could just as easily get a regular Wii?
So we’re just not gonna talk about Austin playing DS in the middle of his wife in labor 😂
Try the PS2 while it is laying down. My old PS2 like that no longer reads discs while it is in the upright position but works just fine while laying down.
Doom 64 is that dark. Even if brightness is turned all the way up on the game settings. I had to adjust T.V. as well just to see it, which screwed up the contrast. One of the best and most underrated Doom games IMO, especially if played back then, even compared to PC games. I've really had to wonder what Nintendo was thinking with some of their designs, like that n64 controller.
maybe it is cuz it was an oled tv right? idk if it works like that im not an expert cuz like black on an oled is fully black right?
Get a new tv. This is one of the brightest game ever made for any console
@@drueckglueck9918
You're drunk, aren't you?

What's funny is that the third party Wiimote seems to be pretty good because the speaker is just as bad as the official one and the cursor flicking on screen also happens with official Wiimotes if the sensor bar isn't placed appropriately.
even if you have the sensor set up correctly it still does that lmao
Phat PS2's in Canada usually tend to sell for like 50$ with an original controller but the good thing i like about the Phat model is you can slap in a hard drive and softmod it to play games directly off of the hard drive.
Also, Austin i could always send you a free mcboot memory card as well lol.
I did that to one of my PS2s, I have about 50 games on it and I love it, but I was high af and I accidentally deleted uLaunchElf so now I can't boot codebreaker and play my games with cheats :_( but I got a PS3 last week and jailbroke it with rebug 4.84 and I've been liking that
4:25
Austin almost had a heart attack after that😂
I love to see a new Austin video! Fun and informative, with a few surprises along the way. Truly happy with this cast as well. Just these people and no more. A+++
what about Matt and the filipino guy?
The hat gimmick was really funny, and yes I am still playing on my Xbox 360, very hard to find controllers or their battery packs.
"Almost everything you can do on the 360 you can do on the X1 and XSX"
"Almost" being the key word there because there are still a good bit of games that they didn't add to the latter systems' back compatability catalogue. Not to mention the modding scene.
Yep. Need for Speed series, Forza, Medal of Honor, FlatOut etc.
I remember playing the Atari 2600 before the NES was popular. Even now, it's a fun system to dig out when you have some friends over.
I used to play the Atari in the only TV we had which was black and white when I was a kid.
Tanks was my favorite although Pong and Pacman were still on top.
I can see the scratches from 9300 miles away.
Region modding a GameCube involves soldering a single jumper wire so if I had to guess, those GameCubes we're bought in bulk from Japan for very cheap, quickly region modded, then sold for 130 on Walmart
Let’s go bro! Pumped every time I see a new upload !
7:19 Infamously the Wii mini had no way to connect to the internet so there was nothing to fill those empty spaces as the other channels couldn’t be accessed & digital games couldn’t be installed to the system.
These were Walmart exclusive in the US, but people would come into my GS all the time & complain b/c these systems couldn’t run Netflix.
I watched this video while playing FFX on my original PS2 I stood in line for 16 hours at Toys R Us at launch 🤣
So fun fact, I bought a n3ds a few years ago off the walmart marketplace, and it said used or something that didn't insinuate newness, and it was the pokemon usum black model, and usually limited edition systems don't stay new for long
I got a brand new, unopened n3ds, complete in box, everything packed like you'd expect from buying a brand new system.
Love your videos ❤ keep up the good work ❤
I remember finding my dad's old atari 2600 and trying it. I love that console so much
I remember the commercials for it. God, I’m old lol
@@PowerGlove79holy shit lmao hey you lived through some cool times tho
I've having the same issue with the PS2 that I grew up using, sometimes it reads and sometimes it doesn't. Noisy either way. I ended up buying a PS2 for the living room and modding the previous one to play games from a hard drive in my room
Yeah the PS2 drive on this one is probably starting to go out and might need to be replaced same thing happened to my PS3
I love your vids man keep up the fantastic work
Thanks for these videos Austin! They are so funny LMAO!
3:07 ohhh that blue on the ds lite looks so pretty
Keep that 360 as long as you can. It has the Jasper motherboard which was much more reliable, and after they fixed the RROD issue eith the OG Xboxes. The PS2 has a worn out laser. Easy to fix if you are willing to tear it apart and swap it out with a replacement part.
It's also possible that the PS2 was only tested in the horizontal position, causing the appearance of a fully functioning, like-new console. I've had fat PS2s that I had to rotate depending on the time of year to account for humidity and hot/cold weather.
@ApplejackSepticEye Yeah, I had a phat PS2 that I had to literally flip it upside down in or for it read discs. It worked for a few more years until it eventually just stopped turning on and my parents broke down and bought me a new PS2 slim.

Bro that DS segment was driving me nuts, that is definitely re shelled haha
Been waiting all saturday for my Austin daddy videos!!
love the mkbhd podcast music 1:55
The Luigi's mansion effect was great! Hahaha Kenzie was spooked
Always take the scuffed real version vs the new 3rd party controllers
Love when he says walmart might have ripped me off but my skills won’t! Hahahaha there u go 😂😂😂😂
The ds lite was definitely a reshell bc I had the exact same one from childhood and the bottom is black instead of all blue.
Yes, U.S. DS lites come only glossy white, glossy pink, Crimson Red and Cobalt blue top shell with matte black base.
Yeah I noticed that too
The fake accessories and the high price tag makes this off putting. Most if not all of these came with fake controllers, psu’s etc. The discs drives in the PS2’s are a joke, they’re just not as well built as the ones in other consoles. Disc Read Error. Best thing to do is to clean that laser with a qtip dipped in isopropyl alcohol. And then just switch to using a harddrive with OPL.
We NEED a looping gif of Austin dancing to the Gamecube startup screen!
14:35 Laguna Seca, great choice.
Thankfully laser replacements in the fat ps2 are insanely easy, but you shouldn’t have to for one labeled like new.
I've bought the one x myself. Have had it for two years now, and I gotta say, Walmart did good. It even came with 2 aa batteries for the controller, and you usually don't see that with a lot of electronics
i wanted this type of video for a long time
I don't know why "It's party alright!" made me laugh so hard
The best part of the 360 is all the Xbox live arcade games that either got delisted or aren’t supported on the newer systems. Love my modded 360. Backed up all my discs and now it also does some emulators.
The best part of this video was dude making the lights flicker during luigis manson lol
OMG! I just remembered that the Atari used to use two prongs to connect to the antenna for a signal on the back of the TV. Memory lane
"Your son was about to be born, and you were playing Pokemon?"
"then i put it down" ~this one got me
16:15 this is giving me ptsd from when I was a kid and my ps2 stopped reading disks… I think we ended up taking it apart and cleaning the lens for the disk reader and it fixed it but I was like 10 so I’m not 100% sure.
“Let’s go with the big lumpy one” 😂
Jared and Joanna have been such good additions
I love that even "tech" people don't understand the premise of "3rd party" on walmart and brand it as walmart selling these. Yes they did say "these are third party" BUT continue to brand it as walmart the whole video.
flipping the region lock on a GameCube only requires alittle soldering skill
Great job austin
This guy makes me laugh so much 🤣
I did not know there was a Wii mini that looked decent great video
The n64 controller was top tier. That middle was great to hold while you had to go ham on that joy stick!!
I still got my original ps2 slim and I have a similar problem with the discs not working. PS2 lasers can be a bit temperamental and sometimes it's how the disc is loaded in. I have to physically pick up my ps2 and hold it in a magic angle for it to start reading the disc properly. This might be the issue with this one!!
@3:32 you can see it is actually sold by Marie’s Market. Which is NOT Walmart, it is 3rd party. Also again @3:36 the nintendo DSi Lite was also sold by Marie’s Market.
- The wii @6:58, The Atari 2600 @10:39, The Nintendo 64 @12:31, The xbox 360 @14:07, and The PS2 @15:34 were all sold by Itembazaar (A 3rd party seller) And not walmart directly
They explicitly said that they were buying from third party sellers and not from Walmart directly. Even mentioning how Walmart has never touched these consoles, but they were sold through Walmarts site. I'm really failing to see your point here.
Wow, 360 for 150? I paid like 25 bucks in Goodwill for one with two controller in 2019 and grabbed a lot of games at the same time for not much more. I guess I'm already earning money on my console collection
I had that exact neon green see through ps2 controller, and seeing it brought back memories
Love the "hat" bit!!
7:46 i have been to a friends home when i was a lil boy, they had the wii and that is what the sound litterally was, YES IM NOT EVEN KIDDING
Thumbs up based solely on the proof of time travel since that gamecube is from 2114. Explains the condition it was in.
Also can we have a video excursion where Austin goes to New Mexico and tries to unbury a copy of ET to play on his Atari console?
I never realized you guys use a colorsource for your studio lighting control
My experience with these things:
*GameCube aftermarket controller* new$4
I have to desolder the right analog stick of mine and put in a new one since it drifts, stick seems to move too fast (little push moves the cursor a lot, hard to adjust) d pad down keeps pushing down+left
*NDSL* salvage$10 working$25
The shell around the hinge seems to break on these common, screen turns yellow and top screen dies are common, both are fixable but cost exceed the console (aftermarket shells are not the best to fit but is decent); also button membrane and hinge are bad now in 2022 need replacing; recommend buying the NDSi for better screens and buttons and SD card capability
*Xbox 360 fat* $40 working
GPU made prior 2010 will die , don't even bother
*Fat ps2*
some are failing to boot now, more have dead DVD drive, buy a working one or consider fmcb or mx4sio if DVD drive dies
For the record the PS2 lens was probably dirty. It’s a very common issue for the fat ones. The process of taking it apart and cleaning it is very easy.
Also, the console with 1 controller + 1 memory card should only cost about $20~$25 at most.
That sega music in the background smack 😂
The plug on the Atari is not called an "aux" plug. It's a 3.5mm TRS plug. TRS stands for "tip ring sleeve". The tip has negative voltage, and the ring is positive. The sleeve is the ground. You can use them for audio, power, and video signals. Many old camcorders used the TRS plug as a video output. The TRS plug on cameras has been replaced with Micro HDMI bas the new video output. Camera microphones still use the TRS plug however.
The Wii mini would be great as a budget console but a couple major problems. The sd card slot has been removed, GameCube support has been stripped, online has been stripped, wi-fi has been stripped pretty much leaving the console to the bare minimum
The OLED screen wasn't the problem with Atari Pacman, it was always flashy and glitchy and everyone had a very disappointing Christmas the year it came out lol
You have noooo idea... How badly... I want some of these systems .. I miss them sooo much...
Thank you for doing this, my brother wants a ps5 so bad but I can't buy a full price one. If I can find one at Walmart I'd be pumped, wish me luck peeps

In the age of covid here is Austin smelling every little thing that crosses his nose. Good job there. Where do I send the flowers for when you eventually get sick?
It's an unpopular opinion but when it comes to buying used Xbox 360, X box 1, and PS 3 or 4 game systems. I usually try to stick with Gamestop. Because you can buy the 1 or 2 year warranty. But I don't mess with refurbished game systems.
