ASM 42 is considered the first full appearance of Mary Jane. She has the famous 'Face it, tiger... you just hit the jackpot!' panel at the end of the issue. But since it's only 1 panel, some people consider it just a cameo. ASM 43 is the 2nd appearance Rhino and a full appearance of Mary Jane (2nd full appearance depending on your stance on ASM 43). Earlier issues would be considered cameos (where she doesn't show her face).
Beautiful to see all these lovely raw books. Sure wish I owned them. I'm only a collector of vintage Spidey books. He's been my hero since I was about 5. This video was a treat, especially the Romita covers.
@@thelasvegaskid It’s tough to know what comics will grow in the long term but I personally like to collect early silver age first appearances. Any first appearance in the first 20 issues have always been in high demand. Other big keys to shoot for can be issue 50 the first kingpin or 129 the first punisher. These can be expensive so always be mindful of your budget. Good luck 🍀
So I’ll kudos to you for getting the collection for that price. The ASM 1 alone is worth roughly, if not slightly more than what you paid. So you basically got an insane collection with everything else for free. Otherwise, I’ll say I’m astounded these idiots who own this stuff don’t do more research. You don’t have to be a genius to call up an auction house or look up prices on eBay to see what stuff is worth. Whoever this owner was, I’d venture to guess he missed out on about $5K-$7K in additional value. So once again, kudos to you, not your fault they weren’t smarter about it.

The problem with old raw books they could be restored with color touch. Endless you are experienced and know how to detect it could be risk.

Romita's first Spider-Man artwork is Daredevil #16, crossover. FYI.
Yeah, that was a great deal. I was thinking the ASM #1 was going to be $6,000, by it's self.
I agree even $6k is a pretty good deal for the asm 1 🍻
