While I also admire him , it will go against his wishes to not build or name anything that can be seen as cult of personality for him. The only exception he allowed was the LKY School of Public Policy in NUSg.

Mr. Lee is one politic leader on the world who love his people and his country.
What you do not realise is that his opinions to rule were shaped by his very staunch peers who would challenge his views & would not backdown, people like Goh Keng Swee(who groomed PHILIP Yeo), Mr. Rajaratnam, Mr. Toh Chin Chye, Mr. Lim Kim San etc. Just like in a band where the “frontman” gets all the recognition there are essential & in fact foundational members that make that band sound fantastic! So let’s no forget our political founding fathers & also people like the brilliant David Marshall, who pushed and stuck to their guns even in opposition to Mr. Lee. They had the people’s back, they strove to Ensure that Singapore had the right financial underpinnings, military stability etc. So as much as we respect Mr.Lee, NEVER FORGET, who played in that original band! They are legends of this modern state, they stood up & were counted when things were bad & they stuck to their guns when the good of the people was paramount. Don’t just remember the “Front man” remember the band members too!
LKY didn't make POPULAR decisions... he only made the right ones. Long Live LKY !

Yes, helping the Singapore's minority group is a noble task for any ruling party, but we should only assist those that in need of assistance base on needs , not race or religion. LKY has big heart for other races and is very considerate of their situation as minority in Singapore due to the fact he understand the feeling during his two years in Malaya Federation.
Bear in mind we can never find another one like Lee Kuan Yew not even near to him.

The Pledge is an oath of allegiance to Spore.
We pledge as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion,
to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality, so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.
Why recite the pledge if it is only an aspiration. It is an indoctrination. Not everyone can achieve their aspirations. Why are there special privileges based on race. Do we need decades, centuries to achieve a level playing field?

Thank you. There is no perfect country in this world. Each have their own fault with ideology and politics. As long as the country and majority of its citizens are well looked after - with a good GNP and standard of living and good health system - you are doing very well. Look at Europe - what a mess! Look at USA ! 14 milion people out of work and many more foreclosures. At the same time, look at 3rd world countries like Burma and Somalia, etc., I would not live there, would you?

People who have not lived for quite a while in other countries and have not had the opportunity to observe certain philosphies, corruption, ideologies and government policies, do not realise that they may have a paradise in their own backyard. There is always dissatisfaction and policies that do not suit everyone in each country. So long as the good and success of the people and the country overides the bad - you are close to success and happiness. The neighbour's grass is always greener!

yeah, but this is very subjective. Everything has it pro and con. For Sporeans, they econonomy are stable but social wise, i am not too sure...however, in malaysia too many corruption but at the same time it is very peaceful and have a lot of nice food. Many people were satisfy and many people are not. Honesly, no bias, i think malaysia need to change its old system so our country can be corruption free. About Dr. Mahathir...lol....i have no comment....

I respect mr lee. But I do not agree with special treatment for the malays just because they were the indigenous people of our tiny island nation. YOu give and give and now its the 21st century. MANY malays still expect handouts and are receiving it. They do not want to change. SO how long more ? It is right to give the special assistance to those who really need it. Some malays get so much help that they are better off than the more deserving in our society. Then I must say the system that mR LEE speaks of here is a failure.

hi all. i have to agree with jessie james on this, but in a mild way. Firs of allt, we cannot say things to hurt our interracial relationships in Singapore. But i must say those handouts should be cut down gradually and eventually comes to a stop. It is also good for the Malays too. Just as the saying goes, if you spoon feed your child, you are hindering your child to learn to be independent and he/she cannot grow up to be a better person. I guess the Malays also wont want to be spoon fed that way.
Of the Malays position need to be protected and safeguard.
