Omg so much yes to this Clo! I couldnt agree more! And it really distrubs me what people are doing infront of yong kids!! Like exposing children to porn is actually sexual abuse! Its distrurbing!!
Ya that was what was soooo wrong about so many of these videos... kids were everywhere. It's just shocking that the adults are not seeing this as inappropriate. Gosh the times have changed. If someone was lightly kissing in a movie my parents would jokingly cover our eyes and distract us from the TV for a sec. Like they wanted to protect how we learned about sex, intimacy, and love. Now these teens have access to social media and are walking straight into what seems like soft porn.
Social media is a plague. I wish it had never happened. I long for the days when the internet was on a dial up computer only, and so you had a limited time on it and proactively did what you needed to do in your allocated ‘computer time’, and social media wasn’t a thing yet. Being chronically online is destroying humanity and creating empty vapid lives for the kids who never got to experience life before the internet. All by design…?
I didn't have Instagram till I was 23 years old!! So glad I had my teenager years without social media! It hurts to know how this is impacting our younger generation. I mean as a very self-aware adult I find myself gettin trapped into social media too much, and I am someone who is very disciplined with my use of it. A young child who doesn't have the discipline or wisdom to be careful with social media can easily just get sucked into it.
@@flowwithchlo I genuinely believe it’s detrimental to be plugged in or ‘entertained’ at all times. In that times of boredom were and still are very important to a persons self development. Boredom gives people the gift of developing creativity, solving your problems, thinking deeply etc… it’s scary to see the effect of having a constant source of entertainment supply is affecting people. Life and relationships seem very disconnected which is ironic. It must be difficult when there’s the crossover of social media with your work requiring you to be online more than perhaps you’d like, but your content is so positive and helpful, and a much needed source of ‘counter culture’ information especially for the youth.
Thanks for speaking out against all the craziness going on Chlo . Young girls are so much more susceptible to eating disorders and body dysmorphia compared to before when social media and smartphones weren't as accessible to kids. The problem obviously extends to adult women... I know so many women with intense ED behaviors and many of them have tried only fans too as a way of increasing their self esteem and getting validation because they saw others do it on social media. Ridiculous.
Omg just reading that sentence " as a way of increasing their self esteem" just made me want to cringe. We shouldn't be basing our self esteem on external validation like that. That is so unsustainable and can actually further more self-esteem issues.
I was once going through a really tough time with social media-- I was constantly comparing my life to others-- and I was talking to my therapist and she just looked at me and said "no one said you have to have social media, you can get off of it". And it was just a good reminder that if something doesn't work for me that I don't have to participate in it. So maybe take a break so that you can be with yourself and develop love for your life and body. Wish you the best.
OMG I literally scrolled for an hour on their page haha. It made me really question humanity in a lot of ways. Like crazy we all are so attention grabbing and spend so much time doing silly stuff for the internet.
Most guys aren’t into cameras and pictures from what I see. In my opinion men go to the gym and work on presenting well in person or for the few pics they take of themselves. Seems we try to match the physical focus without the social strength women naturally have more of - my take.
My perspective is that woman have been taught since the dawn of time that sex sells. Their body sells. Their value and worth is in their looks. This is different for men. The thing that makes them valuable in the eyes of our society is not look their looks rather their productivity, finances, and resources. As a general stereotype a woman will be with a man though he is not that good looking cause of his finances, and a man will choose a woman just cause she's pretty irrespective of her finances or career choice (or lack of career choice). So I think this drives women to want to flaunt themselves on social media.
@@flowwithchlo yes, and if a man or a woman she /him is so called "GAY"; "LESBIAN"; or "strict" or " whatever word you want to use as an insult". out of this reason i became anorexic. i wanted to be loved but thought i could "achieve it" and when i got it because i lost weight i didnt wanted it because i sensed it was "superficial". so i stayed anorexic to just be unreachable or death or somethingin this way. i couldnt cope with this tension. the need to be loved, to have a parnter or my own worth. in yoga i found this sense of "grace"
In a way, I feel sorry for these people. Somebody raised and/or taught them that er0tic@lly dancing and advertising their bodies to millions of viewers the world over is, at the very least, acceptable -- if not outright preferable, or even (to some sad degree) necessary to be valued in society. This is exactly like teaching girls that 'adult' stars and pr0stitutes are the most popular and successful ones out there, and choosing to be or do anything else makes you socially awkward.
I remember doing a video a while back talking about the over-sexualization of teens and I think the thing that kept on going on in my mind as I saw these young girls flaunting themselves on social media was, "who is their mother?". I would be told to change if I walked out of the house in too short of shorts but now these girls aren't even wearing t-shirts anymore. Everything is just all out, all the time.

My answer in short is yes.

100% agree. I'm in the psychology field so I notice this more and more with not just women but men too.
It's hard to love myself and my body because of social media. It makes me not want to go outside because I feel like people are judging me.
