Seeing as the ENTIRE Reliant series still has years old bugs (not spawning on the pad correctly, getting locked out of the cockpit, interior sounds too loud/too quiet across the ship) that just sit on the issue council and don't get fixed, makes me wonder how long it'll take the Sen to get an actual functional science station. I'd love to buy it once it does.
Yeah, those bug me. I have the Sen and for some reason have never melted it. I use it for going out multi-tool mining and stuff. It had an advantage a while back when only some ships could scan for mineables, but now they all can so it's just a buggy flier.
@@Farrister Perhaps it will be tied into exploration. you find a mineral or something, analyze it and discover a pocket or vein of it that will continue to the next exploration point? Collect plants and other stuff to survey an area, analyze fossils etc. maybe find materials to make medicine etc.
I literally just purchased this ship a few days ago, great little science vessel even if just for show. I forgot to add that you skipped right over the interesting science gizmos on the outside of the ship as well on the wingtips, which also adds to the science appeal.
As always a great video and very informative, helped me make my decision to get the Tana before the Sen or Mako,After I bought the Expanse they gave me a reliant Kore to fly I thought this was a little BS because the price point wasn't even close to the same thing almost a hundred dollars different but turns out a lot of fun to fly and cheap to upgrade and operate, upgraded all components and weapons for under 200k,hell spent that on one caterpillar size 3 power plant lol, thank you again great job
Haven't been in any other Reliant besides the Tana. It's great to see the Sen's cool, science interior. I wonder what it'll be used for eventually? Thanks for the video, Farrister!
love the look and the reliant ships have the kore but it is the issue of the ship spawning open, the loudness of the interior, and now no matter how I try respawning at new location, destroying and getting a new ship I am missing one of my wing tip sz2 guns it is almost like they want to get rid of the old ship
Yep. It's a ship that might be, not a ship that is right now. The Reliant hull has some major issues like a huge profile and the questionable rotating wing gimmick that has a high chance of bugging something at ship spawn. But if that doesn't deter you, Tana or Kore would be better options for immediate use than the Sen.
I wouldn't say huge profile. If you compare the surface of the reliant in horizontal mode with other ships like avanger titan the Reliant is not huge. If you manage it to only show the smallest side to the enemy it*s not so bad. In exchange the Reliant has a much higer dps. And the rotating could be good if the engines would work in vertical mode like the engines of the Khartu-Al. Profiding thurst in different directions. Maybe one day the Reliant will get this feature. The main problems are the bugs in the moment. The bed is useless and you can only use it if you have claimed it.
I actually really like the Reliant series a lot, but the biggest problem with the Sen is we don’t even know what Science gameplay will involve. Will it be like Refining but making medicine from harvestable plants? Will it be more gathering data from surveys? Will there be different specializations (chemistry, geology, etc) depending on the organization you’re working for? Right now buying an Endeavor feels almost like making a deposit for a trip to Europe without even knowing what countries in Europe you’ll be visiting, much less what you’ll be doing there.
I own a MISC Endeavor with a hanger module but not the science or research modules at the moment. I had a Reliant Sen but melted it due to its current worthlessness. With the release of the Odyssey with its' ample sized hanger I see the Reliant Sen having a future with both the Endeavor and Odyssey as a science/exploration runabout for them. With up to a 3 person crew it can scout/survey areas for the mother ships that carries it. That eliminates the need for a stronger QT capacity since it would just be refueled by the mothership in between trips to a moon or to the planet surface that the mother ship is studying. I find that it fits perfect with these two MISC vessels. However, I can't recommend buying the Reliant Sen with cash or even store credit. It would be better to buy it in game and insure it.
I'm disappointed that this ship will likely not fit in the Odyssey :( It would have been a really nice complement to a big explorer to carry a few people down to the surface of planets and conduct some light science.
it's in a weird spot where it's not necessarily small but also not necessarily big, which makes the cargo version silly because you can only fit a greycat and some boxes in it, other similar ships for cargo can fit a nox/greycat and then some cargo.
I was seeing somewhere that it will fit if you land it at an angle, guy had pictures and everything to prove it. Can't remember where, sorry. In fact two could fit in an extremely tight squeeze, but you'd need a really good pilot.
If I ever get a PC that can run this game, I like the idea of the Tana as a starter ship. It has a great view and seems handy for box missions and easier combat missions. How does it do for hydrogen and quantum fuel compared to other starter ships (like the Titan or Freelancer)? I’ve heard the Nomad is awful for running out of hydrogen fuel, which seems like the last thing you’d want as a new player learning mechanics and exploring the game. The co-pilot option is also nice… seems like it would really help in the attack (as missile operator). Can you quickly transfer turret control during combat? It seems like you’d want the pilot to operate all of the weapons during a dogfight. But if you want to cover your rear during an escape, that would be a time when you’d want the co-pilot to aim the turret behind you.
@@FreedomFox1 it is a beautiful ship, and really fun to fly I admit, but sadly yes, due to the bugs it is almost impossible to use as a starter ship. You are unable to bed log as it sets it into flight mode meaning you you can't reach the cockpit. It spawns in flight mode if you don't claim it and just retrieve it. And the rear ramp when closed has pretty much no collisions to the point that you will fall through it if you walk up it
@@FreedomFox1 I have a Tana and i enjoy it. The Tana has enough fuel. Like most other starter ships. But it has a very fast but very thirsty Quantum Drive. BUT because of the bugs the Reliant ships are not so good if they the only ship you have. As a second or third ship you can live with the bugs. (Just fly to another station and claim it) If you just want to have 1 ship go for another ship like the Titan. If the Tana get's it's bugs fixed you can upgrade it. BTW you can buy the Tana only a few times a year. What you can do is to buy a cheaper than 75$ starter ship and when the Tana is in sale you buy the upgrade. You can store the upgrade an use it later. Or buy the Tana ingame with aUEC.
I love this ship, I own one, but am annoyed that the bugs still aren't fixed. It would be so simple to make it that you can switch modes during quantum, and that you don't need to be in landing mode to get out of the seat... Coupled with a button to be able to rotate the cockpit when it gets stuck sometimes. But it's just annoying that you can't sleep in it as it goes into flight mode. I did figure an easy way to always spawn it though, that being to make sure to claim it, and with a 41 second claim its not bad. I just mainly hope for the button and ability to get up when in horizontal mode... Other than that, I really live it, especially when fitted with a turret and a size 3 wing tip gun.
Reliants are great little ships; fun to fly and you really get the space vibe. Only when we start the comparison process to they begin to have downsides.
Reading these comments makes me sad, the SEN was part of my CCU chain and I was going to go from the 300i past the Spartan into the SEN today and fly that around for a week before moving on. Sounds like it may be a rough week. Edit: This video states the SEN is $75 but it's $85.
I wish MISC ships where more multi role and not single task oriented. Makes them a tough sell compared to any other ship manufacturer. As of now the only useful ship are the prospector and soon to be Starferer ( whenever ship to ship refueling and refining is added in game ).
I always thought the Reliant looks like something out of Star Wars with the unconventional vertical wings and rotating etc. I don't really like the reliant series, they don't feel as useful as other starters, at least for myself (love the Nomad!). This is something that might change for the Mako and Sen, as their specializations become available. They are nice to fly though and definitively not useless.

An ambulance style thing?
@@Farrister Exactly! The Reliant are small and fast, so they would make an excellent quick response ship!
