- Hello everyone!
In this video features the rare visitor Robert S. Pierson of the Lower Lakes Towing Company.
The Pierson used to be a regular when she was owned by Oglebay Norton under the name Wolverine. But, when she was sold to LLT and flagged Canadian we no longer see her as much which is why this was a rare occasion!
The Pierson departed Meldrum Bay ON with a load of stone on the morning Apr 19th. She would arrive at the mouth of the Saginaw River at 10:30 PM that same day. The first dock she unloaded at was Burroughs in Essexville, they discharged there till 3:30 AM Apr 20th.
After shoving off Burroughs Dock in Essexville they sailed through Bay City and up the river to the Wirt Dock in Saginaw MI arriving there at 8 AM Apr 20th. They then sat there for a while without discharging cargo, not sure of why. Later they would continue unloading until about 3 PM.
Leaving Wirt they had one dock left to supply heading to the Rock Products Dock in Saginaw MI, they only had a few thousand tons left on board so they were only there till 5 PM. After shoving off Rock Products dock they would turn in the 6th Street Basin and head for the lake. They would finnaly reach open water around 10:00 PM.
Song used throughout the video is “Soft” by Washed Out.
Most of the Lower Lakes fleet are getting rough looking but as you say they're workhorses and they get the job done. 🙂🍁
Definitely a workhorse.
