At about 5:27, the very last word you said about the suspension caught my ear because it sounded to me very close to the Quebec pronunciation of my family name Ethier. It was wonderful to meet you in 2016. Thank you again for signing my Elise shirt.
Just found your channel. Wanted an S1 as soon as I saw the news from Frankfurt show. Finally got one in 2003. Then in 2004 emigrated to Australia. Brought the car with us. Doesn’t get used much but at least I still have it. Lovely to see your enthusiasm, all the best.
A great pleasure to meet the young lady behind the car I love! My S1 is a 1998 in Lotus Racing Green, it’s in mint condition and I’ll never part with it! Thanks for the tips, I’ll change the shocks and tyres to those proposed as soon as they need renewing. 😊
@@ElisaArtioli Nicodemus (sad that I have named my Elise!!) is on original shocks and even the front tyres are the original Pirelli P Zeros........only 26k on the clock! Thanks for taking the time to reply, I love your videos 😉
There is nothing fundamentally wrong with either the original Kino's nor with the original P Zero's. However, suspension technology has moved on and I think the Nitron Street Series are much batter than the original Koni's. The Lotus endorsed replacement with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs is great too. The only concern with your tyres is that they are more than 20 years old. So they can no longer be performing well. Get yourself a set of Yokohama AD08 and you will find your car transformed.
Accidentally stumbled upon your channel, it's nice that you are using your Elise for its intended purpose, it's not for nothing that this wonderful car was named after you. Your enthusiasm pleases! Subscribed, will be watching the channel
I am thinking of buying a series 1 Elise. I have always loved them... this video helps me decide. I should just go for it. great video Elisa. subscribed.
Thanks for sharing - great to see you on video and hear your cheery voice again. And lovely to hear about the changes you’ve made to Eli. Amazing original condition… so different to our Honda’d beasts. I changed my seats to hold me better on track and then it became a Slippery slope of adding wider rims and Exige front clam and before I knew it it was well beyond original 😝 My solace is knowing Colin Chapman would have done exactly the same thing. Would love to see yours in person one day and come on one of your driving tours. Italian mountain passes, Sounds like driving heaven. Cheers Z
Hey Zed, well you personalized your Elise, which is nice because it is your "own" and you can tell your story. My car has a different story, but at the end they are just perfect for us :D
I only just discovered that Elisa Artioli is an enthusiastic Elise owner today, and that's such a special thing! An original S1 is a precious thing these days so it's great to see you are looking after "Eli" Elisa! Would love to see any future road trips of events to get to go to in future, or just your general use of the car. Also what else is in your garage and what do you like about them? That looks like an original 996.1 GT3 in the background?!
Thank you for your comment. I could actually use your words as description for the purpose of the channel :-) I plan general Lotus and non Lotus related car content, tour of the garage of course, roadtrips. That GT3 belongs to one of my assoicates at Delightful Driving, our tour organizing club/company
Elisa ciao , un consiglio se posso ..... Tieni i sedili Originali da parte - e trovane Altri da rivestire per la tua conformazione con le adeguate imbottiture e materiale tipo alcantara che è poco scivoloso .
Thanks for your présentation it realy is à chance tu give the community this intruduction, I hope to have the chance to participate to one of your roadtrips with delightfull and with my elise one Day Bye from south of france
Thanks for the video, trust you are well and survived lockdown etc. How would you describe the difference in the Nitron suspension? Like, does it not sound and feel like a grenade has exploded when you hit a pothole?!!
Nitron, as opposed to many other suspension manufacturers, follow the Lotus philosophy of using softish spring rates and not too aggressive damping (which is adjustable). The quality of the Nitron dampers much better than the original Konis were. The Elise has never driven better than with the Nitrons. I can recommend them.
Very cool, I enjoyed the videos! By the way, not sure if you saw this, but recently a video on the Elise on the Hagerty channel came out and of course a mention of where the car got the name is in there (starts here: ua-cam.com/video/h0jXhOmL7Xg/v-deo.html ).

Such a gorgeous car, almost as beautiful as the owner.
I want an Elise even more now… in mustard yellow! …its cool that your passionate about a car you’ve had so long 😎
It is getting ever more difficult finding proper S1's. You better be quick.

Great video, so pleased you got the Nitrons :-)
Yes, and they make such a nice difference. A product that is 20 years more advanced compared to the Koni’s which you can feel.
Damn the tires are skinny! Good choice of coilovers btw!
My experience is that you can put 195/225 on your Elise. But it makes her feel more heavy and less sensitive.

I had a Silver one just like that. But 1999 111S.
Ah, nice car. Need to drive a 111S one day to see what this engine is like.

Ciao vorrei farti delle domande in merito alla guarnizione della testa
Hi Elisa, if I can give you some advice, it would be good to replace the brake hoses with the stainless steel brake hoses too.
Absolutely! I have a set sitting on a shelf, waiting for installation.
