  • It was a great day to cook some bbq and talk about some recent upgrades and additions for our Kodiak travel trailer. As we get ready for this year's Big Haul roadtrip, we have added an additional portable power source to help us during our dry camping. We our also doing a solar upgrade and swapping out our lead acid batteries for a much larger Lithium battery. #hastybake #bluetti #dakotalithium #lithiumbattery

I was anxiously anticipating Adam busting out a caliper (or another precision measuring instrument) in order to get the leg of the lamb perfectly centered on the rotisserie stick 😂

That off reading is alt of fun. I’ve got a 500 Suzuki I like riding the trails with here in Minnesota. What a blast. Adam sure knows how to ride. Doesn’t let them little bumps slow him down. Great pics and videos guys.

One of the reasons I started following you on UA-cam.... you would put something on the grill outside the shop while you were working on a project. Really have enjoyed watching all the machine work, the bbq, your travels.

Adam, before you start machining a star link mounting bracket , check out your local fire department’s “NIGHT FIGHTERS” mountings on fire and rescue trucks, they are telescoping lights that slide up for height with twist of a knob. Your antenna can be put on top of it like the night fighter light. They work extremely well and instantly raise in literally one second ☝️

You’ll be super happy with that 315 amh battery. We just put a 300 amh battery in our bus and it’s been awesome. We use an inverter charger which is a single unit that charges the battery while attached to shore power and provides 120v as needed from the battery. Love all your videos. First time commenting but we live nearby in Crestview.

You'll have lots of lithium iron phosphate battery capacity between the Dakota and the Bluetti. I did some quick math and your solar panels should be able to charge the Dakota fully from dead in about 16 hours or so, depending on sun exposure. Of course, you're likely to never need to run that kind of a full cycle except possibly as an experiment.

Now I know why you two go to the most remote Quiet places on vacation. Seems like whenever you are doing video outside an ambulance or fire truck goes by. As an avid youtube viewer your channel is not the only one with this problem. Somehow that's how life rolls. Just know it doesn't bother your viewers. Can't wait for your out west trip. not only do you provide great views to places that many of us that could not get to even if time and money were not a factor but also some of the best outdoor cooking videos ever.

Make your custom battery box out of polycarbonate, it's non conductive. Diamond plate is heavy and excellent at heat transfer. Polycarbonate is non thermal, very strong and light. Polycarbonate can be bent in a brake like steel. And if you really like spending money you can buy polycarbonate in Diamond plate form.

Lamb: 135F internal temp, so pull it at 130F and let it rest, it will go up to 135F. Done quite a few of them. Over 135F, that lamb will dry out.
I love BBQ and smoking...I HATE HATE HATE HATE the cleanup (and anxiety). When I use my smoker it's 2 hours of prep, hours of tending (it doesn't hold temp worth a darn, it is propane, and any given setting will shoot temps from 185F~290F...usually as soon as I leave it). I have to constantly run to/from the smoker to adjust the burner...quite literally less than a degree in either direction (up or down). Then I have 2 hours of cleanup after (grates, water pan, pans to hold the ribs/roast/chicken after cooking for resting). Then the water/grease mess that is left in the bottom of the water pan. Some would just pour it down the sink, but if you have EVER had to pay to have your drain cleared that bill is no picnic. It is something I will never forget from when I was about 3 years old and watching my parents clearing the drain of grease that the previous homeowners poured down the drains. Yea, I need a different smoker.
As for charcoal? I just can't get it figured out. I use a Webber kettle grill when I can, and sheesh, that temp can just do crazy things...from too cold, to too hot, to burning out too fast...ugh. I want to get better, but I battle SWMBO and my boy. SWMBO will suddenly come home and say "Hey, chicken on the grill tonight", 10 minutes before she wants it on the grill...no charcoal use there. My son also seems to hate the flavor of charcoal grilled food. :(
