By far, this is one of my favourite channels for motorcycle gear review. I like the wind, noise and humidity measuring as it leaves no room for interpretations and it is more transparent. I also like the language variants of the channel. Great work and thank you 🙏🏽
last year when i got my naked bike and was looking for a proper helmet to go with it, i came upon your sport touring helmet comparison and was amazed at how scientific your test were. and now I'm very happy with my shoei gt air 2. now I'm looking for a retro helmet and was thinking of an arai, a bell or probably even the v90 . your video just made the choice easier.
Hey just a suggestion . When on the road test , instead of just looking at the equipment for the tests ( pretty boring frankly although the data is great , it would be better to see the helmet on the head of the rider as he / she is moving along. After all the aesthetics of the thing is important too. Great channel , keep it up...regards from the U.S.
I just returned my V90 for being extremely uncomfortable. I had such high hopes for it and had even ordered a 20B to go with it, but sadly had to return the lot. It's just heavy, massive looking, tight in all the wrong places (get ready for a sore jaw), and the modular mechanism is so archaic, you literally have to slam the lid shut on your face for it to clasp, or apply pressure from both the front and the back on the helmet. Neither are practical/pleasing particularly while riding. Really too bad as it looks great.
Unfortunately, manufacturers' attempts to match older retro styles often means that their helmets take on some of their qualities. For example, the rounder, uninterrupted shell shape often means fewer or less effective ventilation and noise isolation. However, the helmet that seemed to balance form with function best was the V90. This was likely helped by HJC's new take on the retro segment with a modular option, but it definitely paid off. Though it proved a bit hot out on our test, the interior features were much more modern than a lot of the helmet's competitors, and it was surprisingly quiet. Thanks for the question!
Great effort on the test, but again can you test the helmets based on their type? Like use a "retro" bike for this, and use a sportbike for race helmets.
At the moment, there do not seem to be any other modular helmets featuring the same level of retro style as the V90. The closest alternative would likely be the Simpson Darksome modular helmet, though even this option features a more aggressive street fight design. Thanks for the question!
Compared to the i90, the V90 came out more comfortable and quieter, though it was slightly hotter. But both also brings radically different styles, which is also important to keep in mind since the i90 is designed as a more contemporary option. You can also see how the i90 did out on the road here: ua-cam.com/video/INdgvwKTe9k/v-deo.html Thanks for the question!
While both will fit glasses comfortably, we've generally found that Arai tends to do best when it comes to comfortably fitting glasses without any lifting. Thanks for the question!
The Concept-X should definitely be able to fit the Packtalk Black's 45mm speakers thanks to large speaker pockets in the cheek pads. Thanks for the question!
The difference between the normal and carbon Eliminator will generally be about 80-100 grams. Though the standard Eliminator is already incredible light. Thanks for the question!
You should be able to fit the Packtalk Slim on the Glamster. However, it is important to keep in mind that it will be more of a challenge since the helmet does not have speaker pockets and the area between the EPS and outer shell is very tight. Thanks for the question!
For a more off road style, there are also a number of excellent options from Shoei, AGV, and Bell, and we've already reviewed each of them here: Shoei Ex-Zero: ua-cam.com/video/prIPkPIZv-c/v-deo.html AGV X101: ua-cam.com/video/0NEvHJ83bKQ/v-deo.html Bell Moto-3: ua-cam.com/video/ZCpTL7qcSA8/v-deo.html Thanks for the question!
Hey, love the channel. Quick question, where is the microphone situated within the helmet? Is it next to the ear or in the front of the helmet? Just wondering if there might be a difference between the two as companies like Arai and Shoei tend to have finer adjustments in their cheek pads etc?
how did you test the noise level? with the vents open or closed? i know the bell helmets have a permanent open vents that is not good when raining.. was that even considered in the scoring?
The main difference is that the 20B is going to be more advanced than the 10B. This means that the 20B includes FM radio, a greater range, and it can connect to a greater number of riders. Except for the Bell Bullitt (3/5 stars) none of these helmets are tested by SHARP yet, though some have been tested by CRASH (an Australian counterpart). The Glamster, Eliminator, Bullitt, and X3000 ended up earning 3/5 stars from CRASH, which once more shows their greater focus on style. Thanks for the question!
To match the Bullitt's styling, we'd likely stick with a perforated leather jacket. So, you may want to check out the Klim Sixxer, Revit Sherwood Air, or the Dainese San Diego Perforated jacket. Love this scientific approach. Great work
Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it!
What are your thoughts on the helmets we tested out?
WOW!!! thank you very much for the hard work, no one is doing it that professional like you.

Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing your feedback on the V90!
By far the best reviews online. Is it not possible to combine the best performance with these cool retro looks?
Unfortunately, manufacturers' attempts to match older retro styles often means that their helmets take on some of their qualities. For example, the rounder, uninterrupted shell shape often means fewer or less effective ventilation and noise isolation. However, the helmet that seemed to balance form with function best was the V90. This was likely helped by HJC's new take on the retro segment with a modular option, but it definitely paid off. Cool in-depth review!
Btw, How does the V90 compare to the HJC i90?
Compared to the i90, the V90 came out more comfortable and quieter, though it was slightly hotter. But both also brings radically different styles, which is also important to keep in mind since the i90 is designed as a more contemporary option.

great review as always!! which fits glasses better, the Shoei or Arai.

Great review, will the concept-X fit the 45mm Cardo Packtalk Black speakers?
The Concept-X should definitely be able to fit the Packtalk Black's 45mm speakers thanks to large speaker pockets in the cheek pads.
Thanks for the question!
I like how you review with facts 👌 Is there a big weight difference between the normal and the carbon Eliminator?
The difference between the normal and carbon Eliminator will generally be about 80-100 grams. Though the standard Eliminator is already incredible light.
Thanks for the question!
Thanks! I have a Cardo Packtalk Slim already and am looking for a new helmet. Will it fit on the Shoei Glamster?
You should be able to fit the Packtalk Slim on the Glamster. However, it is important to keep in mind that it will be more of a challenge since the helmet does not have speaker pockets and the area between the EPS and outer shell is very tight.

Thank you for commenting. We tested all helmets with vents open. Did the video help you get a better picture of these helmets?
What is the difference between the HJC 10B and 20B system for the V90?

Which retro helmet is the safest?
Except for the Bell Bullitt (3/5 stars) none of these helmets are tested by SHARP yet, though some have been tested by CRASH (an Australian counterpart). The Glamster, Eliminator, Bullitt, and X3000 ended up earning 3/5 stars from CRASH, which once more shows their greater focus on style.

Awesome review! Are there any good summer jackets to pair with the Bullitt? Thanks in advance
