Seen Ralph Carter sing this once on Soul Train and of course the episode of Good Times entitled THE RENT PARTY, but never knew he actually recorded it. Nice Song!
July 16, 2020: In memory of Sgt Manuel R. Martinez, 23, of Albuquerque, who was killed in an auto accident on Aug 22, 1975. (A painful period in my life.) I don't ever recall hearing this song on the radio, but I know Manuel would have loved it too. Katrina
I absolutely love this song and especially Ralph's version of it - so much more than the original. My friend and I each bought the 7" vinyl in 1975 - I was 14 my friend 13. We live in UK and got to hear it at our local Youth Club - they used to have a disco every Wednesday evening from 7pm till 10pm. We never saw Good Times - I don't think it was ever broadcast in UK. The discos were run by several lads who had mobile decks, amps and disco lights. I played this record so much it sounds crackly now and has a few scratches on it but I will never part with it! I will never understand why it didn't break into the UK music charts. It brings back some many memories of such happy, carefree days - and Wednesday night discos - of my early to mid teens! Oh how I wish we still had those 'Good Times' now - we all could do with some good times after the year the whole World has been through!
@Kenneth Liburd Mine too... especially because it's the decade of my birth..1970..the best decade ever..I don't care what know body says...lol We had the best music..low gas prices, low food prices..and best of all NO ... president named Donald Trump!!!...lol...kidding..NOT!!😡
I was so much in love with Ralph in the 70’s. He’s a little older than I am but I remember looking forward to every Good Times episode just to see him!
Last week I heard this song on my radio on Studio 54 station. I did not realize who Ralph Carter was until I looked for the song on youtube. Did he have other hit songs?

On this day in 1975 {September 6th} "When You're Young And In Love" by Ralph Carter entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart for a three week stay, peaking at #95... Three other versions charted; Ruby & the Romantics {#48 in 1964}, the Marvelettes {#23 in 1967}, and the Choice Four {#91 in 1975} Ralph Carter played Michael Evans on 133 episodes of the TV comedy series "Good Times" {1974 - 1979}... Mr. Carter will celebrate his 53rd birthday next May 30th...
I heard the Good Times version first, then this. This reminded me of Everlasting Love by Carl Carlton. Not saying it's bad, but the GT version is better. I think it's more of a ballad and not a disco-dance song.
I heard both versions and I like the album version better! Combination of bubble gum and disco! Or should I say that it's disco with a bubble gum flavor!
Michael Evans went from being a militant midget who believed in black society to singing this song followed by teaming up with the now defunct The Dynamites sang Do You Wanna Fall In Love
@@karimanicolette1210 So preachers and Jesus and everyone else that say that judging is wrong, is wrong but YOU are right? I dont like when slow people tag me, so dont tag me anymore.
It's not the same without John Amos interrupting the middle of the song...

90s is the best era in music
It was great. I'm only 30 and I used to love 70s shows and 70s soul and R&B. Keep going through time, you'll discover wo much more.
That's because we used instruments and creative with talent

This song actually came out before The Neverending Story

They did on an episode of Good Times
How about middle-aged and in love? Some people fall in love for the 2nd time (or 1st real time) in middle age, and feel like they r young again.
