I have a GX80 which your channel helped me research for. I grabbed one for $450 aud in 2023 and it came with the 12-32, 25mm and 35-100. It hooked me into photography and is well worth what I paid for it. I run it with the 20mm and 12-32 in a sling bag when I walk around the city. The JJC Grip is awesome! Hopefully they make a mark ii with PDAF.
I've had one of these babies since 2018, but it fell out of use for years because the grip was too flat and not comfortable at all. Last year I got the JJC grip, and it has completely transformed the handling to the point where I carry it all the time. It pairs perfectly with small primes like the Olympus 12/2 and the 17 - 25 - 45/1.8, and reasonably with larger lenses like the Panasonic 12-35 and 35-100/2.8. Recently I got the Panasonic 9/1.7, which has proven to be perfect on this camera. If I can find another secondhand in good condition for a fair price, I'll get it as backup.
Bought my GX80 + 12-32 kit Lense last Summer on eBay in very good conditions for 299€ here in Germany.There are still some cheap Offers Body only 300€-350€
I have one. You don't need the tilt up viewfinder, because it has a tilt screen, instead of a flip out screen. Tilt it out and shoot from the hip, or near the ground. I usually take to the streets with the 12-32mm kit lens, 14mm 2.5 and the 20mm 1.7. Pancake lenses that easily fit in the pocket. Plenty sharp, and it doesn't scare people any more than a cell phone.
GX80 and the 20mm Panasonic lens is the coolest combination among the digital cameras I owned. I feel the GX80 subtle shutter with the 20mm refined focusing is making every shot a pleasure.
Use the gx80 with the small pancake lens as my pocket everyday use and it’s brilliant
I just bought the 75mm 1.7 for Portrait. The GX 85 does handle it very well because of the stabilizer. Video quality is with the log-hack at 4k 30fps phantastic. Before the pandemic you could grap a new one for 250EUR. Now you are lucky to grap a used one for that price.

The GX80 was one of the first M4/3 cameras I bought, with the kit zoom lens. I got new for not very much, around £300 if I remember rightly. I wanted a Pen F, but they were too expensive, however the GX80 had the rangefinder style and, importantly for me, an EVF. I eventually opted to go full on into Olympus and their EM-1 models because they felt right in my hands and suited the way I shoot, but I kept the GX80 for travelling, paired up with Zuiko f/1.8 primes, mostly the 17 mm. It’s great for discrete shooting because it’s quiet and looks like a film rangefinder. Now I mostly use the OM System Tough TG7 for my daily carry because it’s even more compact and packed with features, even if it lacks an EVF and has a smaller sensor. But still no thoughts of selling the GX80 though.
I have both gx80 and 9. Similar cameras. 9 is slightly larger. 80 has the power switch beneath the mode dial so its easier turn camera on/off by accident. Exposure on 80 is set by pushing the rear wheel, 9 have a separate exposure dial. 9 has the afs/afc/mf switch which 80 dont. 80 doesnt have the tilting LFV but thats fine, I often find the LFV on 9 changing position when carried with neck strap. I find color rendering for OOC slightly better on the 9. 80 dont have the Cine profiles and Mono D, but there is a hack to get Cine D to it. Sensor on 9 is newer so it handles low light slightly better. Both are great options for street photos. If around the same price grab the 9, difference more than around 100eur grab the 80/85.
I recently downsized to a GX85 and am having a ball with it. I have though accidentally turned the camera off while adjusting the mode dial. I do wish it had a better viewfinder panel. It’s ok for autofocus but never all that sharp for manual. Focus assist is used often.
G9 don't have stabilisation in video
GX80 💪 My first, and for most of a decade my only interchangeable lens camera. Grew a bit disillusioned with it when I stuck a crappy telephoto on it and tried to force it to be a wildlife camera; but since I picked up some Olympus gear for that sort of thing, and got a bit more interest in street photography, I love it all over again.
There are a couple of GX9 features I wish it had, like the swivelling EVF and extra photo styles (some of your GX9 jpeg recipes are a bit difficult to pull off on the GX80/5!) but honestly, that hasn't persuaded me to upgrade yet.
I have one and with the 14mm 2.5 lens is awesome for street photography! I enjoy it much more than my X100V! IBIS and flash are great. I like it much more than the GX9. The colors on this 16MP sensor are the best out there.
I recently picked up the GX80 for a lightweight EDC and it’s excellent. I recently paired it with the panny Leica 12-60 and it was a joy to use. Great video, mate🖖

Love the GX85, it's my only camera. I have the 15 mm and 25 mm Leicas and the 42.5 Lumix (the leica version is out of my budget and I prefer the tiny size, can carry all three lenses with me). I do primarily street and documentary. Hoping to pick up a G9 but will keep the GX85 for street and walk around. Recently won an award at an art show with a photo taken on the 15 mm with the GX85. Can't recommend enough. There was plenty of supply on MPB USA up until a week ago at just over $400 and the new price was good but that seems to have jumped.
Just picked up a GX85 from my local dealer in ex+ condition with the 12-32 for USA $499. I am having a a lot of fun with it and plan on selling my Full frame DSLR equipment. I am tired of big cameras and lenses.
Love mine, got one year ago with two kit zooms, bought adapter for my nikkor primes. Love the black and white options and ability to change aspect ratios on the fly!!!!

I buy the GX-85 brand new last month for $449. USD. I search the you tube for how to settings for photographic, the only i find is settings for videos. I want to use this camera for stills shots, I just come from a 35mm Minolta which back then I don’t use extensive because the up & downs in life. But the compact size of this camera (gx85) invites you to go out and explore and enjoy your passion & life. I hope i can find how to set up this camera for photographic soon. I used to own a GX85, but I found the autofocus just a bit too slow, especially compared to my GX9. The image quality on the GX85 was fine, but overall the camera was just a bit too slow for me.
