i have my turntables on my kallax right now and i’m always worried that they might slip, each foot is only like halfway on. they should’ve made the new table just a little deeper and i would’ve gone and bought one today
Yeah, I’m with you. It makes no sense especially since it’s designed just for a DJ ,not to give you at least six more inches. Sometimes you have to wonder who designed these things.
@@PC_TV_73 even if they didn’t make the kallax shelves part a little deeper, they could’ve made the top part a little deeper and just had it centered for balance

It's now up to $179 and you can get a regular Kallax with under frame for $109, which is only 3/4" shorter. I have to admit I was expecting a little more pizazz, not just an extra shelf.
Just FYI, I work at IKEA and we actually sell base legs/frame that support the entire length of the standard 4-cube length KALLAX units, raising it about 6 inches off the floor. Yeah, just that one top surface could have been wider, canter-levered, with a slight forward lip. The rest of the unit could remain the same. Alternatively, you might see if there are different feet, wider rectangular feet you can use to replace those on the turn table.
Good Vid Bro. Indeed, the EXPEDIT top has always prevented me from placing more gear on it. I might add one of these to my studio. I miss the RAST night stand which became a DIY Studio rack more though. If IKEA wants to revisit another classic, is should include that one as well. I've seen hacks that use those legs to hold a wider board on top. Which solves our problems. Keep em coming.
Thanks a lot man! There are a lot of cool hacks to do and all I really want for this one is a wider top and it would be really great to get that out of the box. The Rast hacks are really good and I would sure love to see that item come back too. Dedicated studio furniture are too damn expensive so it makes perfect sense to use IKEA stuff! Thanks for watching! 🙏
It’s just not wide enough.. a lot of people fasten a shelf to the top of it so it can hold more equipment. I’ve even seen a shoe rack mounted to the top of it.
Yeah. Sure, you could always hack it and add stuff to it but I would’ve loved to get a wider top on it out of the box - seems like an easy fix for IKEA. Other than that- I’m happy with it
First off. I’m mad, upset, and disappointed that this is the first I’ve heard of either IKEA audio gear stand. I’ve built my own coffin for my gear in the 80s for DJing. Recently about three years ago I set up my cousin and her man a stereo stand setup which wasn’t any where as good as this one. I went and bought an entertainment system stand to convert it to an turntable stand, but haven’t, because I’m lacking the power tools needed to make it happen. I’ve also designed and created my own vibration isolation suspension turntable platform to help eliminate vibration from the surrounding audio gear. So here are my suggestions to your gripes to this piece of furniture shortcomings. There are many people on YT who buy their furniture and make a new bottom to raise them higher or stabilize them from the dowels breaking. You could do one of two things regarding the turntable issue you have. Buy a nice piece of thick shelving board over the top of the unit to the desired width. Put some sound absorbing, and anti sliding feet that now exist and are easy to search, and they area placed between the board and the top of you unit. Or you could buy the shelving board and cut it in two to handle the width of the turntables or whatever gear you wish to have on top. I’d rather do it this way to damped the the vibration to the turntable and wear on the vinyl. Another way to raise the older unit is to buy 8 high end metal speaker stand legs, and place a solid piece of wood and just screw it into the bottom to secure the whole unit. That’s how I would over come all the short comings you’ve pointed out. Many people making over or adding ikea furniture to their homes have done their own things to reinforce them. I just depends how much you value you place the equipment you’re putting on it. If none of these suggestions appeals to you, I’ll attribute it the fact that you don’t like SHM. Miami to Ibiza! But thanks for letting me know that this piece of furniture exists.
The only thing I'd ask is what Swedish House Mafia had/has to do with this shelf and why would anyone need them to help sell a shelf, IKEA? haha, fun video anyway.
I was excited when I saw top shelf, perfect to slot my amp into, with decks on top, records down the bottom. but it's not wide enough to hold the decks? Useless
Rather than square boxes they could make them wide enough to hold rack mount equipment. That would be better. And offer slide-out shelves for keyboards and controllers. Why don't they ask actual musicians for ideas???
Problem is it was Never designed for Dj’s even this version Is designed for a bedroom producer or to sit a turntable a pair of speakers and vinyl storage for listening , not for a bedroom Dj.

Sucks that it's sold out
Plus I'm going to say I think you have another channel idea here. I just want to hear you reviewing IKEA products. We have a lot in our house 😆
Other than that- I’m happy with it
so disapointed i can't put a controler and the stand for the pc; it's not wide enough ( only 39 cm ) so i won't buy it
anybody able to fit a xdj1000 on these? :)
Shame it's not a little bit deeper also.
You're right, they missed a trick there.
Yeah, I guess it’s just marketing. I think it’s pretty weird but I like the product 🤪
Thanks man!
Should've just put another pair or two of those metal feetsies to the center or 2/4+3/4 parts of the kallax. :)
Wood glue with the dowels homie
I was excited when I saw top shelf, perfect to slot my amp into, with decks on top, records down the bottom.
but it's not wide enough to hold the decks? Useless
They should've included a drawer for keyboards, so you can actually play it.
Ikea has delicious mashed potatoes and meatballs in their canteen. The beer isn't bad either.😅
They sell beer? What's it called in Swedish?
@@iskandertime747 ÖL LJUS LAGER
@@iskandertime747 it's called Öl
Is it?
Sago Accurate
Rather than square boxes they could make them wide enough to hold rack mount equipment. That would be better. And offer slide-out shelves for keyboards and controllers.
Why don't they ask actual musicians for ideas???
The width is the problem for me.
The Husky work bench is so much better than this.
Problem is it was Never designed for Dj’s even this version Is designed for a bedroom producer or to sit a turntable a pair of speakers and vinyl storage for listening , not for a bedroom Dj.
It’s pretty tragic though to charge $100 more for a small shelf on top of a kallax
Still no room for TT in battle style? Pass!
See my comment above, cheap easy battle style hack.. Your welcome 😉😊🤣
What a ridiculous review.. the wooden rods work. Have worked with kallax for years. I have ten turntables of various better to high end sort that all fit on top of the Ikea shelves. Can you show what the alternatives to this and the kallax shelve that possibly is better is?
