It's design makes a bike, time spent getting the shape right is time well spent. It costs just as much to weld a bad design as it does a good design. Drive train technology has tickled down and we are all getting the benefits.
These days, mostly money. You may think I’m being a smart ass but I’m being serious. I had two Pivot Switchblades, one 7500 and one 3500. I could ride the cheaper one in all the same trails and was just as fast fast. Lesson learned, for me at least,
And yet, I rarely see Polygon on the trails and it feels like every other bike is a Pivot. I am never in the market for anything over 3500, but people sure seem to be buying the expensive ones.
Considering the Polygon FAQ: "Can I use it for a technical drop? Yes you can for a recommended height up to 1 meter" line I'd kind of worry about the longevity of the bike. A 1 meter drop is certainly more than I'd ride, but not so much more that I'd be happy with that as a suggested ceiling. I don't recall seeing that kind of limitation suggested in the FAQ of other bikes.
That's not correct. They label the T6 "Class 5". Class 5 is 2 meters. Polygon's classifications are at the link below. www.polygonbikes.com/classification-for-bicycles-usage-2/
I had a T7, if it didn't have the frame/shock and fork issues I would still have it. I had planes to swap some mid tier parts from another bike and compare it do a Ripmo AF.
One of the best comparisons I have seen. My synopsis of the video, either bike is capable of riding the same trails, the more expensive one just does it a little better, but you wouldn't be disappointed with the 6k cheaper bike.
In my mind it is 2000+ direct to consumer bikes for seasoned weeked riders 4000+ regional racers and middle income riders 6000+ national / pro riders, youtubers! 8000+ elite riders 10000+ dentists!
There is a reason there is a term called overbiked. The more you spend on a bike the only real performance gains are under full out speed riding. Something, less then 5% of consumers actually do. I have been to enough bike parks and crazy trails to see people slowely to moderately ride them even on 10 grand plus bikes. The top of the line bikes are race speced for pros. 95% of consumsrs will never attain the skill set or balls to do such riding at such pace, speed and flow. In fact more for us 95% ers a sub 3000 FS will be more then enough to handle even the craziest trails you can man or woman up too. Heck i see kids doing crazy runs on department store bike or entry level general purpose HTs.
Most people can get on just fine on a cheap bike. Some people can benefit from certain upgrades (ie heavy riders and more powerful brakes etc). It's actually more fun to under bike in my humble opinion.
Great comparison. But I mainly wanted to say I love the fact that I’m not the only one to mumble and comment while I’m riding. You did a good job of mixing the audio so it wasn’t overbearing, but I appreciated being able to pick up on it.
Thanks! I self-talk a lot, lol. Sometimes its not suitable for families. 😃I kinda envy those dead silent riders. I was hoping the audio mix would go well on this one. It's a little different than my other videos. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

With brands like polygon and YT if you think they are not top tier stuff your just coping because you spent 6,000 on a bike and got the same spec as a 2,000 dollar bike. The t8 or t9 even the collosus you get the highest spec you can buy for 3,000 or less.
Why do I always see this same comment? Saying a 2k bike is as good as a 6k bike is delusional at best. They aren’t top tier. You’re kidding yourself if you think they are.
