    10:48 Chapter 3: Conclusions
    In this video, I delve into why "The Devil" ending in Cyberpunk 2077 is the absolute worst. While some players believe it's not so bad, or even a good option, the clues scattered throughout the game tell a different story. We'll break down the events leading up to this ending, analyze Misty's tarot card readings, and uncover the true consequences of aligning with Anders Hellman. From the fine print in the contract to the final moments with Takemura, you'll see why this ending is more sinister than it seems. Join me as we explore the darkest path in Cyberpunk 2077.👍🚀

    Honestly the ending where you take yourself out is a way better end than the devil ending. Even if it doesn't really count as an official ending to some, I'd still rather take it into my own hands than be owned in mind, body, and soul by Arasaka. Devil ending is undoubtedly the worst by every standard

      The self-termination ending is a guarantee that not even dead can Anders have your engram. The fact that SOMEHOW Arasaka can get a partial engram of Jackie if you send his body to the wrong place is scary enough. The guy has been dead for hours by the time Arasaka yoinks it. Brain activity has supposedly ended long ago. Yet they can get something with Soulkiller

    There's also the part where Takemura blatantly lies to you when he visits you in the clinic in space to have you sign the contract. He has a line early in the conversation telling V that Hanako already has forgotten about V. But later on in the conversation, he says that it was Hanako that sent him to visit V, to discuss an alternative - the contract.
    Also, one line in The Devil tarot card says "The Devil lures unsuspecting souls into traps, but always grants them a choice". Arasaka does give you the choice between signing the contract or living out the remainder of your days in Night City.
    With that said, while I agree that it's the worst ending. To me, it's my head cannon, and is the best ending. That's because it's my most authentic ending since I selected the choices that I would have had it been the real me playing the game. And it really got me emotional in the end. All throughout the journey to save my life, Misty's words of "as long as you're alive, there's hope" was always in my mind, and that lead me to The Devil ending because I just really wanted to survive. But that ended up breaking the hearts of Misty herself and Johnny.

    I always assumed the Moon meant Hanako, but maybe it's actuallt Hellman then. 🤔
    And damn, if you go out of your way to save Takamura he turns around to trick you into signing your soul away. I never actually read the contract, just denied it because Arasaka is evil.

      Yeah, I was hopeful on my first playthrough of the game that Takemura would have a change of heart about Arasaka when they screwed him at the start and tried to kill him. But I think it shows as you talk to him more that he's too loyal for his own good and will do everything to please his master. Of course it was smart of them to send Takemura if he's alive to speak to V since V trusts him more than Hellman. But it shows he's no better than any of them that he's tricking V, especially after saving his life.

    The tower and the devil ending are both sides of the same "coin" both give you a choice servitude or meaningless existence either on borrowed time or with no purpose at all NUSA and definitely Mayer's would not pass on the chance to get their own grim reaper Morgan backhand 2.0 hence I think they purposely installed a chrome dampener in to you there is already a chrome compressor in the game that ups your chrome tolerance by a nice chunk so why not a backwards version of that instead of increasing your chrome tolerance it shrinks it to a very small amount that way Mayer's ensures you will no longer be a threat even if you decide to run solo but when you decide to join them in the promise of gaining a purpose and your chrome back they get a lethal weapon that's happy to be a lethal weapon both are equally horrific you lose your friends connections hope purpose and for what a primal instinct to survive it's not the lesson Cyberpunk was trying to teach you all along and the lesson is very simple only in being selfless unironically good will you truly feel whole in helping Panam and the nomads in forgiving Johnny in helping your friends only in those moments you are you.

    I think the Devil ending is poetic if you played as a corpo. If you start as a street kid, the same holds true for the space ending and the “good” ending really fits the nomad choice. The Phantom Liberty ending is the one that sort of breaks you out and frees you from your past, though at a price. If you step back, there may be less desirable endings for the character, but each ending has its own poetry. I wonder if, originally, the three endings were fixed or more likely depending on which of the three beginnings you chose?

    • @relaxedswede
      @relaxedswede  Місяць тому +3

      I've never thought of it that way but...yeah. I think it would make sense that Corpo V gets The Devil Ending, Nomad V gets the Aldecaldo Ending etc. But the choice to open up all endings was also good so we get to experience them all regardless of origin choice.

    • @Cyber6string
      @Cyber6string Місяць тому +2

      @@relaxedswede I actually think that the decision to not lock the endings down was the right way to go, too. Makes it about the choices instead of about the narrative.

    • @123Suffering456
      @123Suffering456 Місяць тому +2

      I think it's good too that the endings are open. I've played twice as Corpo V (so far) and I like the idea of starting out as a regular corpo slave, then realising when Arasaka ditches you how wrong it was to work for them (and how unhealthy for V, too), then deciding for a different path and to never trust the big corpos again. It struck me immediately when you meet Hanako at Embers that the corpo responses are suddenly not just using your knowledge of the corpo world to add something to the conversation that V knows and might give them an edge, as I expected them to, but that you're bowing to Hanako and acting like you're still working for Arasaka and you're highly deferential of her. I never pick them, but it totally makes sense if you roleplay the kind of corpo V who might've really learned nothing through the story and goes back to where they come from: a corpo slave who'll end up even selling their soul to Arasaka.
      I like that we have choice over this because it would feel very meaningless to me to play as corpo V and it be predetermined that I'm never getting out of the corpo prison no matter what. Even if, I guess, that can be poetic and an interesting message in its own right.

    • @Cyber6string
      @Cyber6string Місяць тому

      @@123Suffering456 I hadn’t even thought about those responses. V choosing other responses ends up also jarring destiny, choosing a different mindset. I honestly think that a lot of the story writers at CDPR spent many a sleepless night passionately exploring the metaphysics involved. Bet that’s a story in and of itself.

      In terms of Rogue AIs escaping into our world, yes. Quite a few. We know that one of the oldest to do so was Delamain but this breach was most likely done in Germany. My crackpot theory is that smaller rogue AIs are already in Dogtown. Infecting the minds of the drug addicts and homeless.

      @@relaxedswedethat’s actually my line of thinking as well, although I have found most homeless that rant try to warn you but yes that’s my theory as well.
      Plus you have the Blackwall weapons and there’s some writing that says “ it’s a weapon for you but a back door to the future for them”, I don’t remember where i found it but that kinda put it together for me as well, which mix that with song so mi then that suggests that the nusa isn’t a bunch of good guys but in fact a global threat.
      An you right on the money again Myers is a sadistic psychopath that will not just let you walk, let’s say they did take the chip out what did she do? You’re ineffective as a fighter now, you still have all that info as to what took place you are 100% a threat to her. Unless there’s more to it, did she wipe your mind or do something else? Alex wanted out an if you side with reed to give song to the nsua then Alex dies funny that huh, she’s wants out an Myers says sure no worries, really that’s what these nsua sympathizers think? Nar Myers with reeds help zeroed Alex she knew too much an did too much to be kept alive, my bet is the vengeance drivin Myers did something to you an you will soon see what that is.

I can't remember, but don't all of the endings give you 6 months to live, minus the Phantom Liberty ones. I don't count those, because the only "lore friendly" path is sending So Mi to the moon that or killing her. Letting Johnny have your body, doesn't really fit with his arc. That's kind of evident when Rogue calls you in the end credits, and you can tell V's decision eats at Johnny that he doesn't even bother trying to call or talk to Rogue just does a dueces and runs out of the city.
