    Children don't care for their looks till it's late and they are already on their late teens or 20s, many parents are oblivious and don't care to put the effort into raising their own kids, let alone care about facial beauty and health... We care most... Dr. Mew please put us first, the damaged ones, the ones who had extractions, the ones who had dental botched works.... Depression and missing teeth and an ugly face is very real

    19:10 "people dont taking personnal responsability for their healthcare" well you're right, but WHERE does it come from ? When you go to the doctor and he prescribes you something, he often doesn't explain HOW it works, why you should do that, and why he proposes you this treatment, like instead of an other. Even when I ask questions they stay really superficial and dont want to give me the whole info. They often dont even ASK me if i do agree with what they're going to do to me, with what risks etc. (I even had brackets with elastics that ended up dislocating my two temporo-mandibular joints, having pain for years before one specialist was able to identify that)
    It's only after when I do my own research that it makes sense. I don't know why they don't want you to be part of your healing.

    "People not taking responsibility for their own healthcare." "I'm not here to fix you I'm here to help you fix yourself."
    Please excuse the vulgarity but I fucking love these quotes. They're so on the money and there's so many layers to that discussion from all sides of the debate that one could put a youtube channel together to focus on just discussing that as it's such a prominent issue and it needs addressing.
    Every health issue I've looked at I've noticed a massive tendency towards people blaming anything but themselves for their problems. The typical argument is "genetics", and they use that to absolve themselves completely of the situation they are in. This is understandable, and the medical industry does it just as much as their patients do but it needs to stop, it's mentally leaving people as nothing more than victims of circumstance with no ability to change their situation, and frankly, that's just not true. We are all constantly adapting to the things going on in our lives, and we are never in a fixed state, we always have the power to improve. (I'm talking generally here, not about more specific types of afflictions.)
    Everyone here watching these videos has way more power than you give yourselves credit for, and certainly more than the medical industry gives you credit for. You directly or indirectly create the body you live in, and though many of the factors involved are hard to quantify within the confines of laboratory settings, that doesn't make it any less true.
    The information Dr Mew talks about gives us the ability to start fixing a major fundamental component of our physical and mental well being, but it is up to us to apply it and to improve ourselves. No doctor can truly gift us with great health, they can only patch it up when it's bad. It is up to us and us alone to address the health issues we have. That's a wonderful thing, so embrace it and get working.

    After doing this for about 2 months and a half. I can confirm that my maxilla has changed shape (took photos to mark my progress) but I’m not really in a position to know if it has expanded (to me it has) due to cognitive biases I may have. But my friends and family say I look different (from what I can tell- in a positive sense). Unfortunately, I only push my tongue up to my maxilla for 9-12 hours per day since I don’t think I learnt to do it in my sleep. But my two canines have moved forward though, and I suspect the ones beside it have too (forward relative to my front 4 teeth). [This comment is for anyone considering the validity of this school of thought]. To be honest, even if the changes to my face haven’t occurred, I’d still recommend it based on the fact that it has made my lips look healthier. My nose seems a little larger too, but I suspect its because my face has moved more forward so it takes up more angular space on the mirror.

    My parents probably let me to fuck with my appearance. I always notice that I have something wrong with my face since my 12's...
    They always tell me that I didn't have anything that it would be better... And not, it just got worse.
    Now I'm seeing it with more than 33 years old to discover that yes, I was getting deformed but no one could help me because they though that it was ok... everyone even girlfriends... They won't have the knowledge that this was a deformation. At front I seem normal and for some people, handsome, from profile I'm a mess...
    I just wanted to back in time and correct it there... it's so sad that I have spent my own life feeling a freak and my close one's not telling me that... just telling me that I was a good looking face...comparing me with Sephiroth, Alucard, Lestat, etc... man that is really sad that I'm auto conscious about it since ever and can't do nothing to help me in the right age...

    This dude single-handedly created a new source of resentment towards our parents lol. I never thought about how my untreated allergies made me not just uglier, but now I have TMJ and tinnitus. If you want to think that's a coincidence, good luck in life. There has been nothing out there that explained to me so precisely how I got complements for my good looks when I was a child and how that faded through my adolescence and adulthood.
    One certain thing about this whole boom of knowledge related to the maxilla and facial development is that mental health has been severely impacted by knowing it's not just money what limits you, it's your age.
    I would rather not know anything about this. At least I would not suffer from knowing my problem will only get worse and nobody will do anything about it.

    It’s not all about jawline and hollow cheeks. There are many other factors like eye shape and the size of your facial features in relation to each other. Then there is head shape and hairline...There are so many intangibles. Some people with sharp jawlines just aren’t that beautiful so lets not get carried away with this being the key to beauty. Very interesting though it is.

    im 27 and i have always wondered why my face gets more bloated and bloated each year since i started to work...until i see mewing was mentioned in one of the news app i use a week ago. the more research i do, i found that my face is exactly the kind with issues, there is no jawline despite i am thin or even fit, my eyes are getting smaller and smaller, and my face is just round and everytime my friends/relatives see me again after a year or so they will say i get fat. the side profile of my face is aweful, it is a straight line, there is also a small double chin. the only thing i am thankful of is i have perfect teeths. i realized that my tongue has been at the wrong position all the time, i think i just relax and naturally it rest in the lower part. i am not sure whether i was a mouth breather or not, but, one thing for certain is i did open my mouth a lot of the time, and i used to sigh a lot....i had been always wondering why my face looks like a ball while my fd is 200 lbs and over weight but he has super strong jawline and massive eyes...even on the street i would look at a 60 years old uncle and wonder why he has such a strong jawline and i have no features on my face...i always looked into dehydration, body fat percentage or even sodium intake to improve my face, but nothing change. i hope it is not too late for me to do mewing, and a general improvement in my face would be amazing. i have been depressed my whole life with lack of self confidence...i am not saying we should judge people from their look but, in fact, for a lot of the people out there, having a "melting face" or "moon face" is not normal, it is a medical issue, it is not like i am complaining because i get mcdonalds 5 times a day and i have a fat face...yea, so i been mewing for nearly a week now but no visible change, i hope more people will get to know this and more tutorials could be made. really thankful for dr mew to push this new idea forward.

    God bless you Lord Mew.
    Do you also believe that the strength and endurance of your tongue improves as you press it against the palate? Aka is the act of "mewing" supposed to get easier over time?
    I feel like nowadays my "mewing skill" for lack of a better word is superior to 3 months ago.

    • @Grays_Plays
      @Grays_Plays 7 років тому +11

      It will improve and Mewing does get easier, but on the other hand as you expand your maxilla more room will be made available for you to push your tongue into, which will restart the process over and over until you reach the point where you have enough room for all of your tongue.
      The key point is that at some point it does become natural but it takes a long time and a lot of conscious effort to get to that stage. Just keep at it.

      Am I supposed to be actively pushing my whole flat tongue up with some force against the roof of my mouth or just leaving it up against the roof of my mouth at rest?

    • @dmos95
      @dmos95 7 років тому +10

      You won't have enough endurance (or consciousness) to push it actively 24/7, but you should never allow it to leave the correct position. So make sure your tongue never moves away from your palate and sometimes press actively for good measure.
      Worked for me...

      It's just that the younger you are, the more mobile your bones will be, and up until the early 20s those bones will be still growing and be able to have that growth be guided by the tongue posture, but it's not impossible to get results over 30, and in fact even if it were, if you don't mew your face will just become longer faster anyways so it's probably worth it regardless.

    Hi dr mew, I was wondering if there is a way to asymmetrically expand the jaw, I have a facial asymmetry and I am almost completely certain its because one side of the jaw is expanded properly and the other is not. I always rested my tongue on one side of my mouth for some reason. I think it because I always slept on one side, is there a way I can fix this? I also messaged you.

    • @Grays_Plays
      @Grays_Plays 7 років тому +2

      Focus on getting your tongue up and allow it to fill the roof of your mouth. Asymmetries will fix themselves given enough time so long as you are expanding, as the maxilla shapes itself around the tongue, and the tongue is always going to be central providing the jaws are forwards enough for the mandible to not be lopsided.
      Basically get your jaws to move forwards and the asymmetries will "bump out" and correct themselves like the piece of paper at 1:25ish in this video ua-cam.com/video/y5sPlWZed2A/v-deo.html
      Good luck.

    • @Grays_Plays
      @Grays_Plays 7 років тому +4

      It takes time and practise to learn a new swallowing pattern, and it will be more difficult if you are trying to swallow large amounts at a time. Drink small sips to begin with and see how you get on. It will get easier with practise.

    • @brayan_lopes
      @brayan_lopes 7 років тому +3

      +Gray thank you but i am already good at proper swallowing with food and drinks. My only problem is when i try to drink all at once.

    • @Grays_Plays
      @Grays_Plays 7 років тому +2

      Exactly, you just need more practise to be able to maintain the proper swallow while working with larger amounts. (You also might possibly need to expand your jaws to make more room in your mouth to be able to hold those amounts, but that will come from more time with the new posture and function you are working on anyway so don't worry about that for now.)
      If you're doing fine for the most part then you've already got the hang of it, but obviously it's going to be harder when swallowing a large volume of fluid at once compared to smaller amounts. It's an issue of practise, nothing more.
      Try drinking like it again, but take your time and do it slowly, giving each swallow all the time you need to do it well. Only swallow as much as you can while still swallowing properly and see how you get on. I'm sure it will feel awkward, but just keep at it and you'll build the efficiency with this swallowing pattern you need to manage this task eventually.

    I disagree regarding the extraction question. You might be correct that you can still widen your arches and bring them forward. However, this will expose alveolar bone in the back. Fastforward many years and you will be losing bone there because of the lack of pressure. I would not just move teeth forward and outward, but look for an orthodontist who can open up the spaces and put implants in (if able to afford).

    Hi mew I have been looking at your research for a good few years now, I have realized that my mouth breathing habits due to sinus problems as a kid has really stopped the growth and upswing of my maxilla, I have stopped my mouth breathing habit and my tongue is fitting more and more into the roof of my mouth, Which has stopped my sinus problem, I have a question I also have had these blocked feeling in my ears for years I’ve tried getting them cleaned etc. nothing would get this feeling away they also always feel like they need to pop ( like when your on a plane) I’m wondering is their any relationship between the downswing of the maxilla and the Eustachian tube ? I ask this because when I do your exercise of the cheese smile and swallow there is a feeling I get in my inner ear of trying to open or sometimes a liquidy feeling as if my ears are the verge of trying to pop ( it is a relieving sensationation), if I keep going at this will this help my ears one day ? I also believe that I can focus on balancing the 2 sides. Do you have any suggestions or comments? I suspect that possibly has something to do with the fact that I don't balance my chewing between the 2 sides equally therefor my tongue muscles are not loaded the same way.
