    I have a Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay. 38 and DHX2, 160, 146. 1000 miles on it and have only had to replace pads, tires and chain. Bullet proof for me so far. Absolutey love bike. Squamish to National trail in Phoenix. PNW is my home.

    The Amflow has been great for those looking for an Ebike as loads of the 2025 models are discounted on the 2024. I have even seen 2025 prices discounted. Loads of buyers will be putting off a purchase because of this DJI Forbidden.

    Hoping for a druid class bike with 150/140 and a lightish build to replace my pivot shuttle Hopefully sub 20kg (pivot was 19.2). I can definetly see a case for a bigger 160 or 170 bike with a heavier build, I don't think you'd need a vastlty different frame, just a 38 vs 36, maybe the 800 battery. Maybe Forbidden can do a range extender to bring it up to 850 if it's a custom battery. Something like the Vala / Whyte E-lyte really ups the flexibilty in my eyes and it sounds like this could be a good kilo or 2 lighter than those.

    Good news. More brands that have access to the motor is better.

    Forbidden bringing out an emtb with a reasonably sized rear centre for the smaller frame size has got my interest!

    It’s a fair question to ask, regarding the longevity of an idler with such a powerful motor. An interesting one for sure. Perhaps we’ll find out soon, especially when the photo shows DJI on the top tube.

      My 2017 Haibike 8.0 already has an idler pulley and a high pivot; nothing new here😂

      @@markusdubious1987 Fair enough, but you’ll need to add another 40Nm to the motor to get close to the DJI 😅

    Also heard the rumors, but it's still strange, Forbidden is an extremely small brand, they will not be able to produce huge numbers, wouldn't it be in the interest of DJI to partner up with a major brand to gain some noticeable market share? Don't unterstand this step, of course it's interesting, because it's their first ebike, but still.. would make more sense if this is not the only partner brand maybe 🤔

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  13 днів тому +3

      Maybe DJI doesn't want to, or can't at present, deliver huge numbers of motors? Maybe they want build scale gradually.

    • @e_mtb
      @e_mtb 13 днів тому

      @@MBRmagazine Yeah, they will surely have some reason for it, personally I cannot understand it, scalability should not be an issue for a brand like DJI, they had years to plan the production and the longer they wait, the other motor companies will catch up with their systems / batteries, so the exceptionality will become less and less. But yeah, maybe they will let us know anytime soon ☺

    • @johnnywallace8123
      @johnnywallace8123 13 днів тому +5

      I would think that the bike company chooses the motor that they want to use and not the other way.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  13 днів тому

      Less risk potentially. Imagine having an issue like Brose did with Specialized - maybe they’re trying to avoid that kind of nightmare.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  13 днів тому +1

      In the past that hasn’t been the case. If you don’t do the numbers, certain motor brands are simply not an option.

    Big f..king deal. The Bafang Ultra will bury that motor at a fraction of the price. Biktrix also makes a motor that dwarfs the Bafang Ultra. I've been riding bikes since 1965. The hype and BS within the main stream bicycle industry is laughable for anyone who isn't hoodwinked by them.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  11 днів тому +1

      If the Bafang Ultra motor weighs over 6kg, it’s unlikely many serious MTB brands will use it. Which bikes does it come on?

    • @kevinnielsen1356
      @kevinnielsen1356 11 днів тому

      @MBRmagazine The power increase more than offsets the weight gain. For example, a Specialized Turbo Levo, to my Biktrix Ultra FS, a fair comparison. The Levo has 90nm torque, The FS Ultra is 160nm torque. The FS Ultra weighs 34kg, the Turbo Levo 24kg. The total weight must be considered not just bike weight. 80kg rider + 34kg bike = 114kg total. 80kg rider + 24kg bike = 104kg. The bafang rig has 70% more power for a 10% increase in weight. Serious MTB brands ? You drank too much bike corporation cool aid.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  11 днів тому +3

      34kg! 😂

      @@MBRmagazine When have you ever seen a bike go down the trail without a rider ? Bike weight by itself is a meaningless smoke screen. You are being intentionally obtuse,
      or maybe it isn't intentional.

    Hopefully all these silly looking messy multi sprocket bikes have been patented to stop others from making the same mistakes.
    I am waiting for my Amflow pro Hopefully next week. In time I am going to mount a manual change Rohloff chain driven directly above the DJI motor within 2 outer frame plates and high pivot a cnc machined chain stay around the Rohloff axle. Then belt drive the rear wheel from Rohloff body with no need for a tensioner. It will probably only add less than 2kg to the centre of the frame .At 62 kg nearly back to my birth weight I want more weight on a light Emtb anyway. It's goodbye derailleur for me and a very quiet motor gearbox design with aplenty of mumbo-jumbo. E=mtb² or is the Amflow E =mtb³
