No way no small frame, can't believe that was considering one for my birthday in 18months 🤞🤞they will provide one, excellent review just discovered your channel 🙏
The Amflow used here was pre production before the general release as a test bike. The earlier test bikes had a small amount of motor rattle when descending. After the feedback DJI intervened and addressed this minor issue before general release. I have one and I can categorically confirm that mine has no knocking when on the trails, nothing when climbing or descending. It was due to a s all amount of backlash from the chainring when the chain was taking up the slack. Evident in the prelauch models buy twisting the chainring by hand and it had a little float. Mine does not move at all. All the new bikes delivered DJI have addressed this. Goes to show how they will back up their product. This is an incredible bike and better than most will expect. DJI have done what a lot of the brands haven't. Listened to feedback and sorted. Buy one if you can, you will not be disappointed 👍
Funnily enough, DJI provided us with a replacement motor early on in the test period, which I swapped with the original. We were told the new motor was up to date but it still produces some rattling on the descents. Good to hear yours has been quiet though! [Wil]
DJI warranty and service in the drone/camera world is horrible - so i dont know if folks are all that much in a hurry to get it, at 14k. i do hope it wakes up the competition though
Thanks for the review Wil. Really considering either this or the Merida E160 given your positive reviews for both. Coming off a Trance X Advanced Pro and norco sight vlt c2 , I feel both the Amflow and Merida will give me that light and nimble feel. However the talk about frame flex on the Amflow worries me at 95kg + gear so I feel the Merida might be the better bet!
Great review Wil 👏. Interesting that you didn't make as much of the frame flex issues as some reviewers and astutely pointed out its an adaptable trail bike that you can mullet and beef up if you want to but that's not it's raison d'etre and it works for it's intended terrain pretty damn well and longer travel burliet versions will likely follow. How did Dan rate the auto mode for liveability as compared to emtb from Bosch and Trail from Shimano, massive power difference numbers notwithstanding?
My thoughts exactly re the flex. It sounds like other reviewers are really just trying to find negatives when comparing against other bikes. Flow confirmed my assumption - it’s only a problem if you ride heavy and/or gnarly.
@@AdamWaldoa frame that is 700 grams lighter will most likely result in more flex so the other reviewers were correct in mentioning the flex. This reviewer just took a different route to highlight the difference.
Standard only 800wt battery and lower spec, chipper fork, transmission, dropper and alu wheels. I went for standard, cause will fit my own stuff anyway.
Why are embt reviews are never good enough. Go to some of the more popular channels on how to review an ebike. Stick to the basics. Features weight speeds and range.
It doesn't work like that. These motors aren't going to get infinitely more powerful. This is already based on dji trying to make the most powerful lightest motors for drones.
What is the resistance like after you get above the speed limiter? What does it pedal like if you have a flat battery? Can you get a speed chip for it or delimet it in the app for use on private land. If not I would never have one it's a total waste of a 120nm motor to do 15.5mph (it's like having a dodge viper in a country that has a speed limit of 20mph it's a total waste). Looks a nice bike and motor though thank you for your review and keeping us up to date with tec.
Like most modern e-MTB motors, the Avinox doesn't produce much drag at all when not in use. Of course it's still a near-21kg bike, so it's comparatively hard going when riding it without the motor. [Wil]
It's a great bike - but you start off comparing to the Levo SL and there's a 7+ lb difference there, maybe stretching the "not much heavier"? It's entirely possibly that the light and traditional ebike categories are getting mixed, but still 7 lbs isn't nothing even with a motor.
The manufacturer admits that the 30 second cut off in boost is there to minimize overheating . Compare the DJI to the German made Sachs/BMZ at 112 Nm that can run indefinitely in turbo without overheating and the power can be accessed in low cadence , from 40 to 60 RPM .
I was able to repeat the boost mode 3-4 times, back to back on a hot Brisbane afternoon. The bike was detuned and able to sit on 35k/hr up 7-10% grades. After the 3rd or 4th (I can't remember which) it wouldn't boost again for a bit. I had to settle for doing 25ishk/hr in Auto, lol
The catch is it is illegal to have 1000W bike on a trail lol. It is not a problem to make a small powerful motor at all. The problem is the laws limit the electric bicycles motors power and the places for usage of the e-bikes and the mainstream manufacturers stick to the laws. DJI is a Chinese company and they can do any crazy stuff like Bafang for instance.
The seat tube is on the longer side for what we'd like to see from a modern e-MTB these days. As mentioned in the video, there's also an issue with the insertion depth due to the bent profile of the seat tube. For riders with shorter legs, it's worth bearing this in mind. [Wil]
@@FlowMountainBikeUA-cam why have a boost mode if you can't get the most out of it? The bike easily hits 25k/hr in Auto. The best part is if someone detunes it and doesn't like it, they can easily switch it back on.
Nothing new here, just more same same. A short boost mode is annoying when it turns off, it’s better to have a constant output, a display is nice but it doesn’t improve the ride. There are many batteries with that density these days. Etc etc. lots of good options on the market these days as are many reliable options. But hey,one more why not.
I appreciate the review. Having said that, the bike isn't available in the US. It is made from unobtainium. Maybe amflow should consider this before rolling out a bike that can't be had.
This rig weighing in with an extra kg of frame carbon, and 180 travel would be a beast.

definite market disruptor, keen to see what they bring out next
Will. How does this ride compare to the Levo SL?
Any news on other bike brands signing up to use the DJI drive system? I'd like a Merida e160 875 with this drive system.

Can I ask what shoes Dan is wearing during the test? Orange soles

the 30 second cut off in boost is because of possible overheating .the manufacture even admits this .
