Vocal Effects Pedal Board | The ZOOM V6

- Vocal Effects Pedal Board. In this video, I'm going to take you through the ZOOM V6 Vocal Processor. This is a powerful multi effects pedalboard made specifically for vocalists and can be used live or in the studio. Every type of vocal effect can be found here, including pitch correction, vocoding, harmonization, as well as the standards like delay and reverb. It includes a shotgun mic for the best results, so it really is an all inclusive package. There's also a looper which I'll cover in a separate video. Enjoy.

Wow, excellent video.
Glad to liked it
Thank you for this video
You’re welcome
Excellent demo! Just wanted to know that me as a backing vocalist if I put the 2nd harmony with my voice will this processor follow the pitch with my vocal harmony? Or if it doesn't work then if I sing in the main voice with harmony on so can it cut the main voice and sound only the harmonies?
I never knew these existed, looks like fun!
It's a lot of fun
A new world opens before your eyes! Enjoy!!!
Does the robot effect on yours just stay on one note no matter what you sing? I just got the pedal but mine is like that. And I’m wondering if it’s supposed to be or if it no workie right?
Thanks for going to the trouble for posting this review!
You bet!
Excellent demo, strangely enough I watched your demo of the V3 and thought the harmonies sounded better than on the V6
Excellent
Did you listen both with the same equipment?
@@julio.eduardocenteno1471 yes
Hello- is there any way to individually work with the echo OR reverb when have it in that position? Thanks
hi there, can you do both FORMANT + Autotune? Or do you need to choose a single setting :(
Another great one, thanks! Can this do reverb alongside the more complicated delay configurations?
Not sure what you mean. Could you expand?
@@ThePedalGuy With the delay controls on the top right, is that just delay or can there be reverb on it simultaneously?
What does the loop time of only 3:30 mean? Total looping time for all songs and all overdubs, or is that per song etc. Honestly, how does this compare with similar models from TcHelicon? Esp. Natural sounding harmonies? Thanks.
Hey how do I delete Thwse loops that are taking over, and just completely wipe it all clean and then how do I start by looping just one thing stop it and then go to the next I guess memory bank and start a second Loop and then add those two to each other?
Thanks for the video. CaI get your thoughts on using this live to use my voice to get horns/ strings Harmonie? Thanks again.
It would be tricky with this board as I recall.
Hi, I've had this for a while and all of a sudden I’m getting a buzzing noise. What do you think it could be??
i have a TC Helicon mic mechanic 1... I wish i had a foot-switchable doubler and also a telephone/distortion effect
I hear ya!
Very good video....
Can u tell me....is it worth investing in this hardware or can we do the same audio effects after recording on a software ?
Thanks for watching. Well, yes and no. You can do quite a bit with software, but this is really meant to be used for either the studio or live, so it serves a different purpose.
Can I use an active ribbon mic for the V6? Thankyou 🙂
Great video... Best tutorial amongst all vdos I went through till date ..
Thank you
Nice, interesting.
Why is the power adapter center negative while most adapters are center positive?
Can be confusing replacing the adapter
You’d have to ask Zoom about that.
That's how I run down of a product should be done. Thanks a lot for this video, will surely buy this one
Have one question though, I currently use focuseite audio interface 2*2 for recording guitar + vocals. Can I do them simultaneously or do I need to record them one by one (I use audacity for recording)
One by one...
Does that pedal on the right side stay in one spot if you wanted it to or so you have to manually keep it there?
As I recall it was spring loaded
I have a question if it's possible to link this zoom v6 with a guitar or a keybord to create a harmony between the voie and the instrument?
Good question. I’m not sure if that would work well or not
I need a help... I have rode videomicro but i wanna use my guitar pedal as an audio interface (I'm using zoom G3X digital multi effect for guitar). But when i connect my microphone to my guitar pedal, I can't hear nothing. What should I do? Thank you..
Wish I could help but I haven't used a G3X, yet.
Which is more better boss ve2 or zoom v6?
Problem I always see with these vocal pedals is that you can't use the number one thing they would normally be used for. Effects. You have to choose between a good selection of effects, but can't build patches with multiple effects. And in this case it does have a reverb/delay effect, but no control of the parameters of each. Delay time, feedback, intensity, etc. And reverb type, mix, etc.
Quite agree with you.
Can you save your desired own vocal mix?..
Does V6 have a bank wherr to save you effects??
You should be able to save your own preset.
Can I possibly connect this to my Maono Lite Caster (soundcard) as an additional interface?
If it has a line input, it should work fine.
Can you show us the correct and safe way to connect the V6 to an audio interface such as the AudioBox or other interface for recording live effects with DAW software or offer us a better way to record live vocal effects with musical instrument accompanied? I'm using AKG condenser microphone and AudioBox USB interface
Thanks for the question. You can actually use the V6 as an audio IO via USB, so there's no need to double the A/D conversion.
So is it possible to record using Presonus Studio with both the V6 AND the Audiobox plugged in to USB on the computer and record both live? Like say, Rythm guitar and Bass plugged into AudioBox input channels and mic plugged to the V6 while Presonus Studio DAW software is open or better to connect through an actual mixer. Forgive me, I'm still stuck back in the old Tascam 8 track cassette recorder/mixer days. I'm old, brother...lol
@@michaelkreal7817 It wouldn't be possible to do them simultaneously as a DAW will generally only communicate with a single audio IO. However, what you could do is switch over to the V6 when you're ready to record vocals.
Meaning you would unplug/turnoff the Audiobox and just use the V6 as our monitoring and recording interface. Make sense?
Absolutely does make sense. Thanks so much for your prompt replies. You're my go to video channel when I'm looking for honest reviews. You are the man!!!
It looks super simple to use. I think it would take a miracle to help us non-singers to sound good, but this might help, lol.
Amazingly easy RADER. If you can navigate the HeadRush, you can work the V6!
@@ThePedalGuy 👍
I was thinking of Gene Vincent and "Be Bop A Lu La" with the echo slap back.
That would have been a good choice too.
Hi :D Thanks for this video. veeeeery hellpfull. Please help me with one thing: it's necessary activate the phantom power button to use the SGV-6?
Sure thing. You only need to use phantom power when using a condenser mic.
why didnt you talok about the looper / Mem section - section, I was hoping you will se it on this video.. Do you jhave maybe anther one?
Sorry I don’t believe I covered that in detail.
Can you please tell me how I connect the v6 to my mixer? Because I play guitar too and I can't figure it ou😔
Use the analog output of the v6 and route it to the mixer input for best results
thanks for the great video - can you link the backing track you used in the demo please? I really love that song!!
That’s very nice of you to say. That was just something I cooked up with the DigiTech trio in a few minutes.
@@ThePedalGuy wow i love it - would you consider making the backing track available for download?
cool machine
I agree
I love the song Everytime
Thanks.
I own one but you have to reduce the backing vocals so it does not sound artificial
Any idea how I’d connect this with the use of a hot spot monitor?
There’s a line in on most hot spot monitors
10 years ago, I asked ZOOM if they were going to get into vocal processing. They said Soon. 5 years happened and nothing. I got a TC Helicon Player Guitar, then a Play Acoustic. I think I made a good choice by not waiting for Zoom.
TC Helicon Play series is Voice Live technology but as Presets with desired effect On or Off. The factory presets are song based.... awesome. Can download more. $300 range
You definitely did make a good choice by not waiting. Compared to TC Helicon vocal dedicated gear, this Zoom V6 unit sounds like a cheap toy.
The VoiceLive series were too far ahead of its time. It has set the bar at such a high level that even more than a decade later we still can't see a product really matching it in its performance, quality and features.
Good, but you need to connect a guitar to have the right key on. I am not a guitar player, so I hate to pay for unwanted items. Zoom H6 is good enough for me. Stay well.
Sir, I recently purchased this with a powered speaker and the sound is distorted what do you use to have such clear sound?
Went straight into my mixer. I would suggest trying a PA sys for best results.
pls do more song demo of this
Thanks. I did a follow up video for the V6. Check my channel.
The audio in this video is unstable. Some battery is empty, or some damaged microphone?
First time I've heard that. Sounds fine on this end.
Do u have have mixer ??? or can i used a Amp ??
For these videos, I used a mixer but you can use an amp with a aux input or vocal channel
What is the difference between the Zoom V6 and the Zoom V6 - SP
No idea.
can you 2 Voice settings be used simultaneously?
Not that I’m aware of
@@ThePedalGuy Yeah i’m trying to figure out if you can autotune the vocoder- since they’re both in Voice
Can u connect guitar on ur zoom v6
Not sure why you would want to do that. I'm sure it's possible but the results would be dicey.
u havent touched the key thing.. is harmony totally independent for key thingy.
thanks
How did u make your video split screen
Two cameras and OBS.
Zoom why you make the switch and turn buttons so small
You’ll have to ask Zoom
Hey what about sharps and flats ?
Good Question
Thanks for the demo. Good job. Theres nothing here for me.
Ok. Thanks for the feedback
I’m just looking for something to play some ween.
Sounds like fun
Heads up , it doesn't come with the shotgun mic. That's an option for separate purchase
That must be something recent. When I did the review it included the mic. I sold several of them with the mic included
Does anyone find this pedal useful or musical in a pleasing way?
I thought it was a lot of fun myself.
@@ThePedalGuy I get that. Thanks for sharing!
What I am finding is that using different mics will produce even more creative results. I’m plugging in a CAD GXL3000 and it sounds great.
@@ThePedalGuy Cool. I have tried pedal and software harmonizers and never seem to get useful results. I appreciate the insights.
@@Fezzler61 sure thing. What I also found was overusing the compressor is a no no as well. Compressors in general are overused way too often.
Vs a Tc Vocal play acoustic ?
Haven’t tried that one
Great review.... but..... sorry, it sounds pretty cheap and tinny to me.... probably be fun with children's entertainer, but couldn't see this being used anywhere
Thanks for the feedback. After working with it some more i found that the shotgun mic didn’t really jive with my voice so I did a follow up video to demonstrate this.
He got the backing vocals too loud that is why and you have to be an excellent singing fof the backing to sound good. He is slightly off tune.
I only wanted to hear how the distortion sounded on this and he skipped right past that setting
Thanks for your feedback
Thanks for the review. This things a toy 🤣
🤷♂️ opinions vary
Depends what you do musically. A toy for some is a tool for others
How does it compare to the TC-Helicon VL3?
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately, we're not a TC Dealer so I haven't had a chance to try that unit.
TC stuff is, in my opinion, far superior. Less gimmicky, more set up for real world use (less parameter range but processing is used for quality). Roland VT 4 is also pretty good but lacks the warmth of TC products. In the price range no one gets close to TC Helicon for vocals. The problem with VL3 is (again my opinion) you can get better from a guitar chain by using TC electronic individual pedals. I like using replaceable/upgradable blocks (a vocal block and a guitar block and a rhythm block) rather than all in one vocal / guitar units. Good luck
@@xxnonstopdancingxx Thanks for the detailed reply!
@@kickbiker7920 you’re welcome 👍
Tc helicon vl3 is a much much better device. Zoom harmony effect is really bad
Clear and good tutorial but .. sorry but that's a toy.thx 4 the vid.
Thanks for the feedback.
It's too bad Bob Dylan didn't have one these, he could have been famous.😊
LOL
OVATION!!!! LOL
I worked for him. And you ain’t kiddin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
But can it make me sound like King Diamond?! No?! Well forget it then!!
There is only one KD 😉
The shotgun mic that they have sounds pretty thin definite not made for vox.
Thanks for the feedback
t-pain has been really quiet since this device came out
Lol
I like the ease of how everything can be adjusted without going into a window and scrolling here and there.
But the harmonies are horrible, at least in this demonstration.
Thanks for the feedback
I have a lot of Zoom guitar pedals that I like, but I gotta say... my TC Helicon Play Acoustic blows the doors off this thing.
Thanks for the feedback
Yeah, but it’s irritating as heck to use. The UI is terrible
No guitar in and out.
It's a vocal processor, not a guitar processor.
I have to yet hear something useable for real sounding harmonies. All tricks with limited use.
Thanks for the feedback
Why does everything they make like plastic junk
Way to weak on harmony effects.!!
NO WAY !
The audio of this vid is so bad tho
What is happening to the quality of the sound?
Wow! It sounds really bad! Is that the mic? The v6? OBS processing?
If that’s the sound then I’ll 100% stick to my TC-Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic.
I actually just shot a new video to address some of the sound quality issues in this video it came down to a couple of mistakes on my part but I put a nice condenser mic through the V6 and it sounds really great

Or you could spend your money on voice lessons!
🤦🏼♂️
Electric garbage ...Brutal sht sound .DA converter? or just bit deptht max 8?
🙄
Toys like this are the reason the music industry sucks so much ,first you had guitar hero and that made people think they can play guitar ,and with this toy people who can't sing think there rock star but in real life they have zero talent...music is a forgotten art computers destroy everything that is great
🤦🏼♂️
Actually as a singer I found this toy super useful. The effects on it are amazing when singing live, even my band mates noticed a difference.
Some of the voices are dope too, especially unison, and octave up. They really help beef up a chorus.
This pedal is easy to over do and make sound bad. But if you play around a bit and know what sound you want, this thing hasn’t disappointed me yet
Get a Boss ve-500 rather than this toy!
Ok
Personal opinion, but I think we suffer enough from the artificiality of modern music. If you can't sing, don't. ;;)
🙄
Can you write another comment where you sound even more like an 85 year-old man?
@@kevindube7096 damn mellinial ;)
@@zapphoddbubbahbrox5681 Ohhhh. Turns out you’re actually a child
Learning to sing would probably be better
🤦🏼♂️
This artificial distorted sound is probably for the 10 year old kids.
🤷♂️
This is informative but horrible
thanks for sharing
Your audio is HORRIBLE
🤦🏼♂️
after watching this i'm convinced to NEVER buy this weird sounding pos!
Well thanks for the ‘feedback’ 🤦🏼♂️
