As an Iranian Citizen , and as a person who has disagreements with Masih , tonight she made me proud and represented me and many other Iranians flawlessly. Bill Maher needs an informed Iranian friend who justifies him on the regime ... he seems to be affected by a typical soft left narrative.
#MahsaAmini #OpIran
Even on the Iranian nuke deal? I thought this was one of the best foreign policy slam dunks of the Obama administration.
@@UNLebanon Even on that and specially on that. You gotta know how Islamic Republic is to fully grasp this. If they are not sanctioned , they steal most of the money to enrich themselves and their extremist allies , so the Iranian people are f***d . If they ARE sanctioned , they still take what they can and then blame the west for the economic situation. Either way , Iranian people suffer and it gets worse with time. These deals however only inject blood in the veins of the Regime.
If you are very surprised about this , don't be surprised about being surprised. The Islamic Republic is very strong at propaganda. so just dig deeper and see for your self , if interested.
@@UNLebanon it wasn’t ☹️. The Iranian regime is a terrorist regime. Can you imagine if we start shaking hands with Isis? Or the Taliban? No need to imagine, we already are because the Islamic republic is no different. And you’re telling me that “we gotta go along with them to keep them happy” is the best safety plan the USA, leader of the free world, creator of the most powerful military and central intelligence could come up with? These people are dangerous, and we’re aiding their cash flow… who this is supposed to help or protect??
Masih is a passionate woman, with the rt side of her head in tune with her wants. She is willing to risk all the lives of all persons Outside of Iran, just to get rid of the leaders of iran. I get that want, but I can not play RISK with other's lives. Obiden knows the iranians (govt) traded arms for usa hostages (with reagan) and kept the whole deal quiet. None of the Bad PR came out of Iran. // sure there was an Iranian leader during the gwbush baby yrs that yelled & called gwbush baby a lot of names, adjectives and so many nouns that an english teacher had to confirm the words were Nouns. LO and not Pro Nouns. LOL
It would have been illegal for the leader of the faithful State to ever suggest transgenders exist, let alone call gwbush a Pro Noun and cause questions
I get Her wants MYOP due to timing issues, world wide stuff, I would use the following as the reasoning VS bill's ash vs the evil dead S-Mart Words.
1. Putin has threatened to use nukes so USA is already on HIGH alert and 2. Iran and Putin get along and shit happens remember Reagan traded arms with the Iranians, but also shot down a Plane of theirs and gave a Medal to the Kid that pressed the Button on the ship that shot down that commercial airliner.
Masih could be pushing a more diplomatic effort, by suggesting 'seize the day' iran has NO putin to help, and they r all alone and a neutron HIT in the rt locations, could remove the leaders. But she only wants to raise more sanctions LOL WE already did all that, now it is time to advance the Front.
as it is planned to be done upon the saudis' palaces, so could the neutron bombs be used on the leaders of iran, without killing the innocent.
leaving all the buildings in place but killing the rats that infest such treasures
BUT i like to send people to all sorts of lands, to meet the #2, # 7 and others that do not die during the local purges. // Putin has killed so many,, but not steven seagal. SS is poised to take over after Putin passes due to a heart failure his soldiers' deaths mean so much to him, LOL so many deaths and Not enough medals to Pin upon them Ukrainians //
the question is go with a blind passionate broad, hat has great hair? or tread highly with a likely of Peace thru a offer No iranian could refuse
Mecca did get Hit on 9/11/2015 but the USAF had not a thing to deal with that HIT. // If Iran does not deal Kindly with their own, they can be Taught the Proper the Prophet Ali was against the Killing of muslims over and for power, but his own flock of sheep killed him over that belief. //Payback time(?)?
// Talk is better, but the actions will speak Louder and YES, the GOP have plans to start Up their own version of a Immoral Police (they go out and commit sins) Like the Cossacks in Russia ./ or Levites with the Hebrews or Minute Men inside usa enforcing the white Founder's words of Article 1 S 8 p1 of the Constitution. //
i'd go out with the great hairdo, but could not do all my fellow Christians to an argument between two sects of muslim. Ali would not like the idea of interference, for He did believe Muslims might one day Stop hurting each other, over any BUTT or thing.
MYOP Let the Ali's people get their chance to Take back their community from the Monopoly Board players. IF someone else frees them from their chains, they may never be free rather just a slave to another foreigner's whims, greed, or desires. No body should desire a desert,. LOLo

I wish Overtime was a longer feature. Or have a longer Real Time?! Pretty sure your fans would support it.
They need to do a overtime only show at least one per season
Yes, ditch the crappy podcast and give us a longer Over Time!
@@mofishin2648 I’m not a fan of the podcast either. But if you read the comments, I have to ask myself did I watch the same thing?
Disagree. For one, the Podcast is great as Bill has unique guests and gets them to open up. Overtime is the right format on length, as it has often just been an extended fight from the show. They don’t get through the questions, half the time.
They only show about 60% of the show on youtube. More conversations happen on the full show
That Iranian woman is so brave.
Overtime is honestly my favorite part of the show because of it's candidness and how the people on the panel are put on the spot to give honest answers to how they feel about different topics. The best is when someone in an unrelated field will give better/differing advice to an issue than the "expert."
Yeah, this should just be the last 30 minutes of a 90 minute real time, which would be much better, but I know Bill has to get to the Mirage to help climate change.
Truth!
@@sandyunderpants4376 Sometimes he has gigs, but the format has gone from sometimes 15 to 20 minutes down to 10 for many years now. The whole problem is the format of the show and the fact that there requires to be too many people that still have to work. What they should do is just let the people who have worked all week leave, and then either hire, or have one person stay in the control panel to make sure if something goes wrong and just have the camera set up be of the entire panel. That way you won't have to think about needing the camera crew to stay there.
There is something to be said of not talking a subject in circles, he has done that on occasion in his podcast, but he's both high and relaxed so he doesn't really worry about preforming which is fine. But since he seems hellbent on keeping the break act during the midpoint of the panel. You are right overtime should be 20-30 minutes. That could really become the meat and potatos of the show since it wouldn't have to fit into the comedic news show.
@@sandyunderpants4376 lol
I felt that Bill's abrupt "shut-down" of Masih in Overtime was... abrupt. 🐈
Audience didn't like i either. Zero claps. Bill was awful to Masih.
He let her go on way to long. She doesn't understand that everything isn't an opportunity for her to harp on her one note crusade.
@@redrick8900 She probably picked that up from listening to Maher.
Masih makes great points and I can't believe Bill would shut her down like that because she doesn't agree with him. He's getting more and more "I'm right" the older he gets. I think she laid out the situation well. It's not an agree to disagree, it's a, "well, you obviously know more about this than I do, from a different perspective, and it makes a lot of sense."
@@thebeefyleaf Yes, Pippi. That's exactly what I'm saying. You clearly understand my point. Bill is always right, his guests should always agree with him and he should never acknowledge that one of his guests with a differing opinion, especially someone with first hand experience in the topic, could maybe have a more informed opinion, based more on reality than hearsay. He should just shut everyone down. It's the Bill show. I mean, it IS... But he used to be less into pompous grandstanding and looking for everyone to agree with everything he says and laugh at jokes that aren't funny.
Don't get me wrong. I like him and I like his show... But we all need to acknowledge when to NOT say "agree to disagree"... And this is a prime example.
"agree to disagree" means "since I can't refute the truth of what you are saying and win this argument, I refuse to lose so I will cut off discussion".
He was being polite. She made no sense. According to what she said: You can’t negotiate. Sanctions don’t work. But you have to put pressure on Iran. That can only mean a military threat. Is that what you want?

I live in China. I have taught at a university here for several years. The college entrance examination, or "gao kao" is a brutal, two to three day test. And it is the *only* criteria used to measure students. No grades, no activities, just the one test. It is accepted as fair and meritocratic - even a student in a remote village can struggle to ace it and change their life.
How many kids actually are there taking it? China will lose half their population in 20 years. Those kids are a resource they are burning though with zero thought to what’s behind them.

How many different people are offered the test every year?

I agree that Bill was refusing to listen from someone who lived in the country and has a lot of knowledge inside out. The Iranian regime is not to be trusted. Thanks Bill, for everything!
I guess the point that Masih was trying to make is that making any kind of deal with the Iranian regime at this point is going to legitimize them. Basically the Iranian regime is thirsty for making any kind of deal at this point just to make sure that they have enough credibility to remain in power. You should also note that there are doubts about the practicality of the deal at this point, as there are doubts about honesty and seriousness of the Iranian regime... Something is happening in Iran and I am not sure if the Islamic Republic can survive!
You may be right about the here and now in Iran. I like a lot of what Ms. Masih has to say, but I felt she was missing the point about our now defunct Iran deal, which was to get our inspectors in there to monitor their nuclear program at close quarters. Maybe the landscape there at the moment would no longer suit the strategy. Right now I'm not sure.
@@robvangessel3766 I understand your point. But this might be a bit different from the way Iranian people see things at this point. I guess a large portion of the Iranian population believe that the regime is using the inspections just as a leverage to make a deal, while behind the scenes they are still seeking "peaceful" nuclear energy, and you may never be able to stop them if they remain in power.
A tricky issue. Obama making the treaty with them had been promoting a progressive element in Iran, but when Trump withdrew the conservatives overwhelmed the country.
On the opposite end, Nixon started trade with China because it's difficult to go to war with someone you trade with. We've had difficult times with China, but Japan and the West trading with China seems to be limiting Xi at times. Doing the same with Russia didn't work at all.
Either way, it's a difficult call and impossible to tell how the future will unfold. We've been lucky when we got it right, like Churchill about Nazi Germany.

We live in a time where the word *Merit* is a "controversial issue".
When I grew up I was taught that Sex, race, religion and Ethnicity didn't matter.. Now those seem to be the only things that do.
..because, as she went on to say, who defines what "merit" is?
Ayn Rand bitched about that fifty years ago. I still don't take it seriously.
When talking about science, engineering, or math, merit is clear. Those are factual disciplines, not subjective. That is what China and India know and how they stay consistent, where the US falters.
@@Skiguru990 Software engineering is a "factual discipline? Which country is the leader in producing apps used around the world? Which country produced the first mainframe and personal computers and cell phones? That's right -- the United States. Where the definition of "merit" in the sciences and engineering also includes creativity and invention.
You don't produce cutting-edge advancements if your education system sees certain disciplines as "factual." *All* disciplines -- including the arts -- require knowledge and mastery of core principles, facts, and techniques.
Why testing is still valid is that those students are motivated to do well on those tests. As an educator, I find that the most difficult hurdle to overcome is educational motivation and persistence when it gets more difficult. I can help them learn if they want to learn.
Part of our societal problem is how we frame intelligence. If you were at a party and said my child isn't a gifted singer or a gifted musician or a gifted painter, nobody would think twice about what you said. But if you said my child isn't gifted in some educational field, it would raise eyebrows, as if you were saying your child is not intelligent. We need to lift up those with talents and foster them in others who want them. But you need to find intrinsic value in it and if an individual does not yet have intrinsic motivation, we're wasting our time making spaces for them and denying others who do have that motivation.
The children, with the capacity to learn, must no longer be held back, by lesser students. There is nothing controversial, about saying one child is a gifted athlete, and there should be no argument with the fact some children are more gifted students. We are squandering potential, when we impose equity. Every child should be given the same opportunity to test, and then get access to advanced programs. But, no child should be included, or excluded, from these programs to fill a racial quota.
education shouldn't be contingent on standardized testing or lotteries any more than the socioeconomic status of the child's parents, i/e the income levels & tax revenue of the region they're from that dictates the level of resources, teaching talent & overall schooling they get as well as police protection & other infrastructure support. the point he made about China is key: they retooled & standardized their entire educational system to provide a better education for all their children back in the seventies which is a major factor that took them from a third world nation back then to a global economic power today & right-wing socio-economic classism as well as anti-intellectualism isn't going to keep us in competition with them, as Bill pointed out with our college grads being less about engineering & more about arts, sports, etc.. What we really need, beyond a complete overhaul of how we regulate which school gets what based on regional tax-revenue so as to provide top-tier educations to entire future generations, is a stronger focus on aptitude testing for each student to find the area they do accel in & guide them down that path to a life of success so they can all compete in a globalized world of the future. He should listen to Masih. I remember assimilate debates about how to deal with the apartheid govt of South Africa. Some of us were arguing against sanctions because we thought they would hurt the oppressed citizens now than their oppressors. Bishop Tutu came to the USA and said: "Yes, we will suffer, but we are already suffering and our oppressors are not. Please do somethings. " He was right. Tougher sanctions were the right approach. I think we should listen to the people who are done all the suffering.
Bill made an egregious error with Masih. The slam of his hand symbolizes silence and obedience. You’re better than that, Bill.

Bill it was a hummer of a show.
“Unprecedented for a nuclear power to be attacking a country and losing”
he must have forgotten about US invasions of Vietnam, iraq and Afghanistan?
I noticed that too but then again Van is overrated..
The USA flew halfway across the world to fight those wars. It's not like they were losing to Mexico. Russia is getting beat down by their neighbors, completely different war scenarios.
Russians has already lost more troops in the Ukraine war than the USA lost in all 3 of those wars combined by the way. Also, USA casualties in IRAQ and Afghanistan was like 1 for 50.
I think there is a bit of a difference. While you could make the argument about the US and Vietnam being a similar situation, even that is not apples to apples, but Iraq and Afghanistan are definitely not the same situation at all.
The difference lies in the intent of the wars/invasions. The US never went into those countries with the intention of conquering and annexing them, if it had, the story would have been different. One doesn’t need look much further than the bombing of Baghdad back in 2003. Also, it wasn’t like the US was fighting a uniformed army on some battlefield or even the streets. The “enemy” could be and often was hidden among the general population.
So while both situations are surprising when the US and Russia are supposed to be superpowers, they are surprising for different reasons. But what is happening with Russia is much more shocking. It would be like the US deciding to conquer Canada and then losing.
We didn't lose in Iraq and Afghanistan. We took over both countries and kept them until we decided to leave. I don't know what planet you live on.
Bill is brilliant but as he gets older he seems to be losing the ability to listen.
You cant lose what you don't have. 😉

Masih Alinejad is spot on and you Bill are clueless regarding this topic
Bill was so clueless almost like a child.
Hey Bill, to add to Masih's point about the US negotiating with Iran over the nuclear deal, by doing so the US is legitimizing that oppressive terror supporting regime, and the end result of the nuclear negotiation would only give Iran billions of dollars in cash, further strengthening them, and also, they would still always be able to very quickly develop a nuclear weapon anyway. It would not be effective. The best thing the US could do, as Masih said, is to increase global pressure on Iran, support the Iranian people over the oppressive regime, and weaken the regime so that the Iranian people can bring about the change which they desire.
Ok so are we also then saying we should not buy Oil from the Saudis, buy Apple products built in China or clothing from sweetshops in Asia? How much did it work for the North Korean people with all the pressure put on them over decades? Masih is delusional and suffers from the same issue mane "woke" people suffer, that if they say something with passion its automatically true. Real life shows that nothing is black and white and especially geopolitics is very complex, thinking that "pressure" Iran would have any positive effect for anyone other then a few wealthy people selling books in the comfort of the US is just moronic.
@@Ketraar The Saudis are not funding Hezbollah, the Houthis, Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist groups, like Iran is. On climate change and insurance: After seeing the post Ian devastation at Fort Meyers it seems to be a no-brainer that we have to stop building trailer home communities along the beaches in Florida and that building codes in such areas need to be upgraded. To simply rebuild them as they were makes absolutely no sense.
And the same thing should happened in Puerto Tico areas that get devastated with every tropical storm because they continue to rebuild without building codes.
There have always been hurricanes. It's not climate change. It's call weather. Just like men are men and women are women.
What about here in California. They keep building homes in areas where there has been recent wildfires. I’m right behind a mountain. We almost lost our home in the 2019 Tic Canyon fire. Now they are supposed to build new homes on the opposite side of the mountain in the canyon behind me. Nothing but plenty of dry brush in that area.
It's easy to just say that but the reason people live in those areas is they can't afford an alternative.
@@calcifur can’t speak for California, but if costal Florida is anything like my home of costal Savannah GA anything waterfront cost 10x more than further inland. Currently in NC and anything on a mountain top with a view can be in the millions, so it is not the poor building there.

There isn't one place in this country that isn't susceptible to some sort of natural disaster. Where do you suggest we all go to avoid nature's fury?
