ARC Troopers are more like Elite Front Line Soldiers
While Commandos are like Black Ops, going behind enemy lines and difficult independent missions.
ARCs do carry out behind enemy line missions too, but I'm not so sure 100% on how to differentiate the 2 other than the obvious.
For another comparison, I'd say ARCs are like Spartan IV's and Commandos are the Spartan IIs

I would say commandos. Although Fives and Echo were awesome men and more independent, commandos were just more elite and when you see them you get that feeling that something big must be going on. Commandos were trained to get in there and do the job no matter what and lose no one. There were also less of them, and one example is the delta squad how they were all key into getting the job done and they relied on no one else

Star Commander I didn't know sev died. We never saw that in the clone wars shows
in the game Republic Commando, which is were the Deltas first appear, Sev is implied to have been KIA in the last mission
Delta squad wanted to go back and retrieve sev, but they were ordered by Master Yoda to not go back. I personally would like for them to go back and get sev out of there, it would've been a great ending to the campaign of the game.

What's interesting is how different the ARC's have changed between current canon and Legends. The ARC's were originally one man armies and could be placed in any type of situation - front line, espionage, etc. Engineered and trained to be at peak physical shape, extremely lethal, independent and creative thinkers. This was even more so with the Null-ARC troopers. This information can all be found by referencing the Republic Commando game and novels by Karen Traviss.
In the Legends universe at least a full squad of commandos could easily give a single ARC a good fight and they had a good chance of winning. However this is assuming a squad is at full strength. A one on one fight would see an ARC win due to increased physical conditioning (they were created to be stronger/taller/etc. than all other types of clones) and mental conditioning (they were created to be smarter/innovative/independent) - all these traits gave them an edge in every scenario.
Commandos on the other hand were primarily specialists at espionage and stealth missions - we know from both actual canon and Legends that front line combat saw commando casualties skyrocket. Most commando squads that were present on Geonosis were wiped out. While they are still a force to be reckoned with alone, commandos function the best as part of a squad. This means that while they can operate alone, they are not as effective as ARC troopers were if utilised in the same capacity.
Unfortunately canon now puts ARC's as conventional front line troops with just better training. This makes even less sense since they primarily act individually and not in units along side regular troops. Talk about wasted potential.

So ARCs were the equivalent to the Spartan 3s of Halo, Commandos = ODSTs, and regular clones = marines.
The commandos died on geonosis because they were deployed as infantry and forced to push the tunnels basically by themselves. Not fair to use against them. In a situation on their first mission, being lead by inept Jedi masters who hadn’t seen battle in hundreds of years, and being forced to fight in a way they were not supposed to be used.

You could say Arcs are like Rangers but Commandos maybe could be more like Delta than Green Berets, Green Berets are more versatile and are even left behind in times of peace to provide with relief and help rebuild. I could see Commandos like Delta within the Rangers but then again I think they'd be more like Navy Seals, if you watch some documentaries even Rangers think the highest of Delta claiming that Delta just thinks and does things entirely different more unique and independent so maybe Arc Troopers are like Delta and The Commandos are like Navy Seals

It seems to me that the clone commandos were meant for very precise and surgical operations where as ARC troopers were for more so advance infantry and unit leadership during large scale battles
It's like comparing Army Delta to Navy SEALs. They are trained for differing scenarios, but are able to complete similar objectives. ARCs were front line specialists, working with Jedi and guiding and leading other Troopers in SHTF scenarios, while Delta Squad went alone in to recover the bodies of two dead Jedi at the hands of Savage Oppress. I think that says enough.

Comparing ARC Troopers and Commandos are like comparing Delta (CAG) to SEAL Team Six (Devgru) Both are good at certain things an easier example is apples and oranges
So I’m guessing this is how we classify these groups:
Arcs = elite front line soldiers (marines)
Commandos = Black Ops
Bad Batch = GI Joes
That’s a good way of thinking of it,
ARCs are similar to Rangers or Marine Force Recon
Commandos are like Delta force/Marine Raiders or DEVGRU/SAS
I feel like ARC troopers were more effective on a large scale because of the sheer amount of ARC troopers in the Republic, however I think on a smaller scale the Commandos were more effective. If you were to compare Gregor to an ARC trooper who would you say was better? Gregor at the time (when he was believed to have died) had been a slave for years and still was able to help the astromechs and the colonel escape, imagine an commando who had spent all of those years training and then compare that Commando to an ARC. Who do you think would've won. I think the Commado.

null arcs were really more comparable to commandos than any other arc and in fact the wiki refers to them as commandos because they preformed similar task and had the same style

Honestly, looking at Star Wars the Clone Wars TV show, i give it to the commandos. Here's why
1. Colt and Havoc, leader and member of the Rancor battalion, died easily. Like no offense but they went down easily.
2. To this day, I still have no idea why Echo (501st ARC) did what he did at the Citadel which would cause his transformation. It made no sense strategy wise.
3. The real reason i think Commandos are better is because of Gregor. He spent a long time away from the fight, washing dishes, but was still able to take an entire droid battalion, with amazing accuracy (best i've seen) and even surviving the entire place blowing up! I don't think an ARC trooper could of done that, at least not alone

Based on The one who trained Fives, and The Expertise that followed The delta squad in Their training, from their trainer. They did different Things. Arcs belongs in The battlezone, sided by other regiments as 501st Acting as the fist of The Republic. Delta Squad represents that same thing. But in 4 individuals, trained to do what ARCS could not. Stated AS The Republics Best on wiki’s but Also by their armor, their weapons and their obidience. Commandos is just overall better. I see No reason to Think otherwise. If arcs and commandos had same skill, and arcs and commandos where alike. Why Then have them both? For me that question is easy answered; because commandos are The better unit. Trained to be so, demanded to be so.

Has anybody in here remember the only trooper, a real arc trooper, that won the medal for special service to the Republic, by the chancellor himself. Fordo! He easily would’ve done what Gregor did in the same conditions, and maybe he would’ve been able to escape with the group also.

Commandos for sure. They strike installations and key points in small teams with minimal to zero support from the other Republic forces in the field, if any are there at the time to begin with.
The most famous example of this would be Delta Squad's infiltration and recapture of an Acclamator cruiser. Alone.
I think there is a difference between the first generation of 100 arc troopers trained by Fett and the later supplemented arc troopers pulled from clone units. They don't really compare. Clones that became arc troopers were there to add capability to standard clones units, like Fives, Echo, and Jesse did for the 501st.
There were also many more thousand Commando units than Arc troopers at the start of the clone wars.
These two classes do not match the Null-Class Arc Troopers though :)

The commandos had independent thought, but we're fiercely loyal despite this. Most commandos that stayed had alterior motives. Deltas wanted to wait for Sev to find his way to the Empire, and Darman stayed because he could not leave an injured Niner behind. All of them came close to deserting, but didn't because they wanted to provide Intel to the Skirata Clan and the Rebellion, and we're very successful in doing this. Some also had children in the Skirata Clan and vowed to kill Jedi to protect hose children from being trained as Jedi, and the Skirata Clan from being killed by the Empire because of harboring Jedi.
The ARCs lost four men on Hypori, and had higher casualties than the Commandos.
Geetsly can you do a video on the ARF troopers? They are greatly underrated and ignored by all to preference to Spec Ops and ARCs. I personally love the ARF troopers and their use during the clone war.

I think that for a real life comparison, ARCs would be US Army Rangers, elite battle shock troops, whereas commandos would be Green Berets, who would be more stealthy and deployed in smaller numbers, more like training insurrectionists behind enemy lines or assassinating a high-value target, while ARC troopers would shatter enemy weak points, storm heavily fortified entrenchments, or capture an important base.

the commandos would pull out a victory, just look at this example delta squad invaded and infiltrated and reclaimed an entire acclamator assault ship in around a few hours, a squad of ARC troopers would have died the second they ran in to a few more scavenger droids than they could handle, plus they would not be able to use some of the more advanced trandoshan weapons and you know how delta squad on their own held three landing bays with hundreds of droid dispensers waiting to deploy, an arc trooper squad would have died on the second one they cant handle tens of droidikas and super battle droids they would have died plus the tactical advisor arc troopers would be unable to pull off many commando maneuvers

wrong in rep com the hardest levels were alone and you command breezed through them plus, most of the acclamator level was on your own ARC troopers, while elite cant, or, would have a very hard time going alone with the scavenger droids, and also to go through an entire ship in just a few hours, a commandos tactical advisor would be needed, which the ARC troopers do not have that also ONE commando can operate an entire at-te so suck on that

I say it would depend on the situation. And ARC troopers specialised in situations that were far more common than for commandos. Their skill was probably quite the same, but the ARC troopers did slightly more for the republic than the commandos.

Any one trained by Kal Skirata, is awesome. Null Arcs were the true heros of the special operations branch considering they got most of the information for the rest of the Spec Ops community.
If you go by canon, ARC troopers are just regular clones who go through ARC trooper school, Commandos (legends and Canon) were trained to be the best from the start..so Commandos easily win..Commandos did things ARC's could not do, but also, ARCS were used more for front lines while Commandos were used for more stealth, espionage and assassinations., Now..NULL ARCS are a whole different world...

The methods for doing so were imperfect, most attempts at it resulted in the clone going insane, as far as I know, in either Legends or both Legends and Canon.
Thing is much as we try to deny it midichlorians are canon- so that means that force "sensitivity" is a scale. It's grey not black and white. Anakin had the highest, over 20k, so we can assume most Jedi have a 5-15k range. But all beings in the galaxy are force sensitive; from humans to the space slug to Dexter frickin' Jester. Which means Jango Fett had some degree of midichlorians too- probably in the low hundreds though possibly higher considering his skill. Theoretically if characters like Jango received force training they could do basic tasks like telekinesis. That also means all the clones have the same amount of force "sensitivity" as Jango...what I'm saying is, where to draw the line? Galen Marek obviously had an INSANE midichlorian count but where is that invisible line between him and Jango Fett? In answer to the question though I'd guess the cost of that much genetic alteration would be too much and technically they already are a bit.

I go with arc troopers because of their independant thoughts through that they can find creative and efficant solutions( or even mad but working ones)
Clone Commandos. As someone who's watched the 2003 Clone Wars, and someone who's playing Republic Commando, the Commandos pulled off more impressive tasks in smaller numbers with less equipment. In one of the first episodes of tje 2003 Clone Wads, the Arc Troopers required 6 squad members reinforced by a platoon of 12 regular clones to take down an AA gun, where as Delta Squad pulled off a Simi stunt with just 4 commandos without loosing a single clone and taking on superior droid numbers to that of the Arcs.

You are comparing ARC troopers to commandos..... ? In my knowledge , werent there a lot of arc troopers compared to commandos ? ( correct me if im wrong ) And if so , when you are asking who helped more in the war effort ,
the arc troopers obviously did . A large number of them existing compared to the low number of commandos . Being able to carry out more missions .
(And if there are more comandos than arcs just turn the argument around)

I think something to note is that the term "ARC trooper" has more than one faction. What I mean from this is that there are ARC troopers who earned the title by showing exemplary skill in combat and then there's the Alpha-class ARC troopers. Alpha-class ARC troopers, from my understanding, only had 100 created whereas there were dozens of squads of commandos. Personally my ranking goes like this: Null-class Arc troopers > Alpha-class Arc troopers > Clone Commandos > Arc troopers inducted for skill.
The last round def goes to ARCs. During the First Battle Of Geonosis, over 50% of the deployed commandos were absolutely massacred, a much higher rate than the losses of the regular clones. ARCs were trained for battle. They excelled at full-on combat, and that can be seen many times in the Clone Wars
You are carrying complete nonsense.
The Republic Commandos suffered 50% casualties on Geonosis because the Jedi did not know how to command an army, and did not understand the capabilities of the Republic Commandos. They were used as normal infantry, along with Alphas and nulls.
The number of Republican commandos at the time of the Battle of Geonosis was only 20 thousand, 10 thousand remained.
After the Battle of Geonosis, the Republic Commandos came under SOB command and began performing the tasks they had been trained for.
The ARC, in turn, had 2 types of soldiers:
1 type, ARC such as alphas, nulls, rancors and ARCs. Which performed tasks similar to the Republican commandos and were also part of the SOB.
Type 2, ARC recruiters like Fives and Echo, they were regular clone troopers who just played themselves out, got promoted, and didn't complete the full ARC express course. They were used as a regular combat unit, because they were not trained as full-fledged ARCs.

Its a fact that NULL class and ALPHA class arc troopers were more superior to clone commandos. Regular promoted arc troopers like fives and echo not so much.
Sir- Shanksalot NULL class ARC troopers without question were better. It's the Alpha Class that when compared to commandos is difficult to determine. Commandos were trained at the same level of difficulty as the alpha arcs but had better armor and weapons so I would give the commandos a slight edge over the alphas. But you are correct in that the Nulls were the best of the best. Heck they were arguably better than most bounty hunters.

just comparing equipment , independent tought and overall effectivenes. Overall effectivenes is not another point to compare but the answer to the video . It doesnt matter if someone has better armour if they dont perform as good as clones with regular armour. And if you are comparing overall effectivenes you cant just compare equipment and tought . You have to compare QUALITY in relation to QUANTITY . If a branch has better tecnology , armour , equipment , etc...but looses a lot of quantity their overall effectivenes reduces a lot.

Saying that , its pointless to compare overall effectivenes of the two BRANCHES as the answer is obvious , the one with the more troops and less cost are probably more effective. You should compare the overall effectivenes of two SQUADS to see who is more effective abd skilled.

The ignorance in this comment makes the nerd in me die! Birthed trained Arcs were so deadly that commandos often looked up to them. Arcs are responsible for training many commanders and captains. We see how even promoted arc troopers like echo were they got like a year of arc training, become on par with commandos like Gregor. Commandos were definitely badass in their field of black ops though. Hell, their name even states that they are not the run of the mill commando, but aggressive recon commandos. I give up the most lethal solider is always looked over
ARCs were more superior then commandos. ARC stands for Advanced Recon Commandos. They are basically "Advanced" commandos. The clone wars tv series not the 2003 version but the 2008-2014 version really nerfed the ARCs. To put it this way 1 ARC trooper equals a squad of Commandos. Remember Captain Fordo? He was more badass in the comics then any other clone. He could even resist Jedi mind tricks. I don't know any clone that could resist a mind trick not even my favorite clone trooper ever Rex.

I think this discussion is much like a comparison of the US 75th Rangers With various US Special Forces Groups. One is purpose built for rapid response while the other is built for strategic missions that are very calculated. We see this in how the two were trained. The Arc Troopers were trained to use every piece of republic equipment, and even CIS equipment as well. This fits as they were often deployed into blind situations without knowledge of what equipment was available. Commandos were sent on specific missions with specific outcomes that were calculated by among the best minds in the Republic. This is why they trained exclusively with their own weapons, they knew what they were getting into and they needed equipment they could rely on to get the mission done.
The real difference between the two is that the only reason that they would fight is if the commandos were sent out on a head hunting mission and they would have all the intel and equipment they needed to see it through. ARC troopers would have to rely on luck to have some situational effect that would give them an advantage that the commandos could not exploit. That is not likely.

I only say arc troopers because they lose few men even though they are on the front lines. Whilst the commandos go behind enemy lines and lose few but the reason why there aren't many commandos isn't because it took so long to train them it is because most died before order 66. And still the commandos lost few after the first battles but in the first missions they went on there were more sith but that is the same for the arc troopers on the front lines. But the battle between arc troopers and commandos in my opinion would be won by the arc troopers. If there was an actual battle in a made game with them all having the normal skills of their own. But the arc troopers would win without a doubt.

john mosqueda if you watched the clone wars and read many of the star wars books you would see the training of how the arc troopers had to rely on one another to keep each others safe. You saw this with domino squad.
The two types were created with different purposes in mind. Jango, an experienced soldier from a young age and a leader of soldiers, trained the Arcs himself for just that, frontline warfare and command. The Commandos on the other hand were made for special missions that did not require brute force but more precise and asymmetrical warfare and had a variety of specialties thanks to their Cuy’val Dar instructors who’s own special skills were imparted to the commandos through their training. The Cuy’val Dar, being bounty hunters and mercenaries who were used to working independently or in small groups focused on training their students in this way. Therefore, just like in real life, you have groups of specially trained soldiers for specific types of missions. Open warfare and light infantry tactics for arcs. Black ops and asymmetrical warfare for commandos.
In SWRC, the first mission you play. As you pass two regular clone infantry they say. "Hey, look a commando! I hear they can practically win the war themselves!" Meaning that even the lowest in rank and training, knew the RC were a huge deal when even 1 showed up!
ARC troopers are like the Army Rangers. They fight high priority missions on the front. Saving three Jedi from Grievous was a heroic thing to do. However, this pales in comparison to Delta Squad's actions on Geononsis and the RAS Prosecutor. On Geonosis, Delta 07 (sev) shot down Sun Fac's fighter with his D.C.-17 in sniper mode with Delta 38 (boss) defending him from incoming Geonocians. Then they had to finish the mission to take down a droid factory AND destroy a droid core ship. On the Prosecutor, they stopped 4 droid landings in the hanger bays, destroyed the Trandosian presence, and singlehandedly destroyed a separatist battleship by activating unmanned turrets, all without any Jedi with them. That means they don't have force users aiding them. The arc troopers rescuing the Jedi had three force users. The Jedi most certainly used the force to keep from getting hit and help their rescuers.
The way I see it as is: the arcs were used on the battlefield, and were whizzed around between points on the battlefield, reinforcing those points. The commandos had one clear cut mission, and were sent behind the enemy lines to achieve it. The ARCs were a frontline specialist troop, whereas the commandos were a infiltration unit.
I think ARC trropers are like Green Berets, as Commandos are like Navy Seals. Both are amazing at their own types of jobs. ARC troopers at front line attacks and Commandos at stealthy/sabotage missions. I do believe it also depends on the soldier, as I think Commander Cody, who is an ARC trooper, could probably best many Commandos in a 1v1 fight
I mean, there canon "pick anyone who's skilled ARCs" who get "normal" stuff and didn't really go through special training and then there's the Legends Alpha ARCs who DO get get special gear like the commandos and got highly specialized training.
I think the ARC troopers contributed more thought in a 1 v 1 fight think a commando would win though this could be debated

The way I see it. ARC Troopers are the ultimate clones when it comes to battles and small combat operations in the middle of battles.
Commandos are the best at infiltration outside of standard combat and far behind enemy lines.
If commandos and ARC troopers were in a standard battle where they were put against each other with equal numbers I feel the ARC troopers would be more favored to win. But if the Commandos were sent in alone in a full squad and told to disable important defensive weapons, obtain some intel and get out. The Commandos would succeed in the mission because that is their strongpoint.
Put them in a 1v1 fist fight without armor and it just depends on the individual clone at that point.
I would give the point to the ARC Troopers personally though since having a few of them on ground during a battle is almost like having 1 jedi added to the ranks of the clones in terms of effectiveness against their enemy.
Hard to say, the clone commandos like in the Rebublic Commando game and novels had highly dangerous missions and like several of them are damn impressive . From That core ship and it's epic escape to the retaking of the Prosecutor. But the ARC troopers are the elite, and in the animated series of 03 we saw Fordo and his team pull off amazing feats. I'm undecided.
I think this really depends on the type of commando. There's the Alpha-class Advanced Recon Commandos, Null-class Advanced Recon Commandos, Republic Commandos, and ARC trained troopers. The 6 Nulls and 100 Alphas were much like the SPARTAN program from the Halo series. Theyre trained in everything and have physical enhancements over other clones (including the other commandos). Much like the Spartans, most died and had a limited production. In order to boost the dwindling numbers of ARCs, regular clones who showed exceptional abilities got ARC training (like Fives, Echo, and the clone commanders). Even though they received this training, they were not to the level of the Alphas/Nulls. Republic Commandos were the Kaminoians answer to the fail Null ARC program (Jango's was the Alphas). Republic Commandos have the best teamwork and have specialized training. They can do missions like Alphas, but required their 4 man team. They were also cheaper to produce and were more loyal to the Republic. If its 1 on 1, Alpha>Null>Republic Commando>ARC trained trooper. If its 4 on 4, Alphas>Republic Commandos>Nulls>ARC trained. Alphas are 1 man armies and Republic Commandos are a squad of special forces.
Some arc troopers were only released during the battle of kamino but some were there during the first battle of geonosis and some were not bread to be arc’s and were regular troopers promoted to arc
Normal Clone-Trooper were also adopted into Arc Corps when they stood out in Combat,so not all of them have got the Spec-Ops Training.Commandos were always trained for a specific Role in a Black Ops Sabotage Team. They even got better Weapons and Gear than Arc Troopers,which used the same standard Blasters used in the Clone Army and optimized Helmets and Chestplates(which were made from the same Material as Phase I Clone Trooper Gear,later Phase II).
Also a side note! You should do a video on Commander Bly and Aayla Secura's relationship because there is apparently something in one of the Republic Commando novels mentioning a relationship between them that's not really a professional one if you know what I mean haha!

Null Class ARC troopers would hands-down win. They're the first batch of clones created, and were taught by Kal Skirata. They were also all clone-types combined (basically they can operate vehicles, be medics, snipers, heavy-troopers, and other stuff).
it's well known that Null ARCs were the most dangerous (and unstable) troops available. However a normal objective that required 1 ARC for an assault, could also be fulfilled by 4 Clone Commandos or 100 Normal Clone Troopers. With ARCs and Clone Commandos able to execute covert operations, while normal clones typically couldn't. With Clone Commandos trained by Kal Skirata enjoying a slightly worse survival rating than those trained by Walon Vau.
Beautiful video Geetsly. I loved it. And as for which trooper I'm more in favor of (drum roll)----the ARC Trooper. I loved their independence of mind and hey they made Grievous himself retreat. Granted it was tactical but hey only Jedi have ever pulled that off before. So my vote is the ARC Trooper.

training-wise id say arc troopers, however as a team which inherently was sent into the unknowns and had to make the best with what they had relying mostly on what they found and one another i would say that commandos over time would gain more experience thus the edge over the standard arc trooper

In the comics the null sine time held off several commando squads with neither side taking causiltes, but they repelled the commandos several times and never lost the building
I think it is important to note that there were three classes of ARC Troopers. The Null Arcs, The Alpha Arcs and the ARC Troopers that were recruited throughout the clone wars. The Null by far were the most elite and were trained by a mandalorian who trained the commandos as well. The Alpha troopers were trained by jango and only numbered 100. The arcs that were recruited were no different genetically than any other regular trooper and were recruited for advanced skill and thought in the clone wars.
The Nulls were by far the best. But the alphas and the commandos is what is being questioned here and I believe due to the advanced armor and then nearly identical training (sometime harsher depending on the trainer) I would give the edge to the commandos. I give the edge due to the training because there wasn't much difference between jango and his mandalorian trainers as the Nulls who were the best weren't trained by jango but by Kal skirata. This showing you don't have to be trained by jango to have the superior training. Also there were many many clone commandos who also disobeyed order 66 along with the alpha arcs and Null arcs. Such as ion, and omega squads, and then Sev from delta. This also shows independent thought like the alpha arcs.

Personally I would say ARC's were the top tir as they had to be capable of handling any mission, any change in battle and handle any type of weapon or transport. Versatility is key in a military and the ARC troopers were the apex of that philosophy.
do a video on what you think would have happened most jedi had survived on geonosis during the first battle and how those survivors could have changed the aftermath of order 66. it would mean more jedi to fight the clones when the order was given
Commandos because they were sent to do the dirty work before Arc Troopers and the main Troopers were sent in. However the Arc troopers are very close in their efficiency as they were called in when the battles started to go south; however they weren't on near as many intelligence missions or recovery of Republic assets missions as the Commandos.
One thing the clone wars lacked was the showing of these clones. Both arc troopers and commandos. We only got to see like 5 or 6 arc troopers in the whole show and only a brief showing of an entire clone commando squad

The Null-ARCs probably had the highest capacity for independent thought though, going as far as being considered as Kal Skirata's private army.
I don't know if someone already told it but, in Legend, Commandos are supposed to be ARC troopers 2.0, cheaper, physically weaker, less independent on decision making, but better in team working. So, i think, with equal gear, one ARC trooper can easily defeat a Commando (he's stronger and think faster). In team, that will be a draw because a team of Commandos will balance the lack of strength with a far better coordination than a team of ARC.
I've always compared arc troopers to navy seals, kinda the superheroes of the military. The commandos are like Delta force, more secretive but just as skilled.
