100% hate having the smoke on the models too. Also absolutely loving this series, so much fun to see you get through that pile with all the targets and planning
Paints Warhammer at a relentless pace for two years only to get thrown into a full-blown existential crisis over whether smoke is physical or not. Excellent content. Also excellent painting!
I’m 43 and I’ve got back into Warhammer after 20 years or so, thankfully I still have all my old minis from the late 90s but now have to paint them all for The Old World and I’m currently buying much quicker than I’m painting again but I am at least starting to get some completed models into the cabinet. I find now I’m older I can manage the painting process much easier, I still get very distracted and end up doing bits of many units at once but I am also better at multi tasking now and finding other tasks to do if I get stuck on something like assembly, scraping Mold lines and planning out the overall look of the unit. Another good tip if you’re overwhelmed by the work you need to do is to put it all away and slowly get things out again so you can focus on one thing at a time, I find this helps a lot when I lose focus and at other times I just do a bit of everything and slowly make progress. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
@@hammerthebacklog Mostly I had a lot of High elves and lesser amount of Dwarfs, a few orcs and gobbos, chaos and Lizardmen as well. I’m also halfway through painting the new Tomb King box and just bought the Bret box today so no shortage of things to paint!!! I think I might be the whale GW is hunting as I’m buying way too much of it I can’t help myself lol
Mick sent me a box of 5th Edition Saurus Warriors still on sprue, for FREE. Fair play Mick. Ive painted them up, as I try (in vain) to accomplish 2000pts of Lizardmen 5th Ed from my childhood. Following Hammer the Backlog with great interest. Fabulous painting as usual, looking forward to the next one.
It has been thoroughly entertaining to watch you paint your models and see the fantastic results Mick. I love the Lamasu too and I really need to look at getting some of the Fabazel models in the future to paint for my channel.
Great Channel mick I must say. I collected warhammer myself long before the fila 07 days. You’re a quality painter. I have a few questions though. How come you have such a large backlog of miniatures? How did you afford such an infinite supply of warhammer from so long ago considering the high costs? Also why you are trying? Lastly, why aren’t you subscribed to the crosdad UA-cam page? Regards R Crosdale
@@crosdad Dear Mr. Crosdale, Thank you very much for the reply, which I enjoyed reading immensely. Regarding your questions, I am the owner of exactly zero children, which has given me a certain amount of freedom in terms of disposable income. In response to your question regarding trying, I am in fact not trying. This is all entirely effortless. What models did you collect pre the golden era of Fila 07? Finally, I am in fact subscribed to the crosdad UA-cam page. Regards M Leonard
@@hammerthebacklog Dear Michael, Thank you for swift reply and my apologies for the delay in getting back to you here. Thanks for clearing up my questions regarding your personal finances. It's been a lot of fun and very inspiring to see your progress over the past year, can't wait to see what you paint next year :)
Thanks a lot! Next year's video is currently being edited, should be a couple of days...
The Dogs of War are of a timeless quality. Really hope GW brings them back.
I'd be happy enough with a made to order re-release of the old models
so good seeing you accomplish so much! I was inspired to tackle my own dark heresy dark angels and had a lot of fun painting them. thank you
5:45 ... I like flame and smoke effects modelled onto the miniature quite a lot.
Different strokes for different folks!

It is though, isn't it?
Well done on the Year Two goals being reached, congratulations!!!
Sigvald Burgundy is stunning, I repainted my entire Warmaster Empire force as Ostlanders just to use it.

Putting it all away and taking out one thing at a time to focus on is pretty much my entire method too. What's in your late 90s treasure trove?

Yea smoke on minis bugs me too, some of the newer models are getting really out of hand with it.
This is very cool Mick ! These look amazing !

I've never been so invested in tiny figurines

Go, man. Go. You’re painting for all of our sins.
Well done

Solid plastic smoke is hard to make look right. It just doesn't.
