nice tool bro
2 gallon Ziplock bag over the filter. Cheaper and works!
😂😂😂 dam your that cheap, wow
I use mityvac suck the oil out the dipstick lot less messy.
Eddie, I appreciate that when your son comes into the video you take the time to involve him and make him the priority! Good on yah man family is always #1 and he will be your legacy!
Look into the Fumoto drain valve = No more wrenching!
I live in Phoenix, AZ and I run Valvoline Premium Blue 10w-30 synthetic blend Heavy Duty in my 19' 2500. And an OEM filter. That's what the book calls for in high ambient temps and I liked that Valvoline has the Cummins logo on the side of it and it says it's endorsed by Cummins.
Amsoil oil and filter FTW..very patient with the future DIYER...good job
Fleet Guard either makes filters for Cummins or is a subsidiary of cummins. Either way fleet guard is my go to.
Diesel oil will always come out black as night. It's just the way they are. The OEM filter is definitely better. It filters to a smaller micron and same with the fuel filters. Like some one said they are made by fleetgaurd.
Great videos and I would stay OEM with the oil filter
Napa gold and platinum filters r really good filters I use them with pennzoil platinum full syn on my gas vehicle's... on my diesel's only amsoil filter and oil
I used a Napa Gold 7060 in my Chevy 1500 for seven years, never had a problem. One thing I like to do is cut off the bottom of the box that the filter comes in, leaving about 2" of the sides attached, and use it as a little holder to stand up the filter while I pre-fill it.
Not sure on the 19’s but my 20 Laramie 6.7 calls for 10w-30 synthetic blend. Service manager said if something happens with the engine and is not running recommended oil that Ram has and will deny warranty claims. Just FYI
I also run valvoline blue . Cummins recomends this oil
Bought the oil cap. Thanks for the Idea!
I run the K&N oil filter . So easy with the nut welded on the filter cap
Yep gotta agree Eddie, having a clear oil way is more important than having clean air. I’m not sure if you’re kidding or not, the color of your oil is not an indication of much of anything. Maybe you should just change your oil everyday so you will have the clearest oil on the block!
Eddie I’ve read a lot about ram/Cummins filters and how they are made so much better then other filters with how small it filters down to. It is so much better then others filters because Cummins has made so many motors over they years and they have invested so much more time and money into filters then others for diesels because of all of the large over the road trucks have to run so many miles between oil changes without fallers from oil filters and all of that tech from the big trucks trickles down to all Cummins motors.
The smile on t
Your sons face with his flashlight lol. Hes the cutest
The kid loves flash lights haha
I got me a 2020 denali hd yesterday. I will let you know what i think and obviously you know what i think of your golf game. Lol
mine is supposed to be built October 28 how do you like it what colors did you get
Its beautiful i got the white frost tricoat and the dark walnut and gray interior. I had a 18 denali and the ride is a lot better and the transmission is smoother. The heads up display is nice, the only thing i can say is that the mirrors are a little shakey but i like the way they look. But you will absolutely love it. Hope you get it soon!
Fleetguard Stratapore filters are the best for a Cummins, and are made by Cummins.
Do you not need to prime before starting up? After doing oil change
I fill the filter before installing
@@EddieLife3500 I had seen on another video where the guy does the whole turn key on and off a couple times
Black oil In diesel engines is normal nothing wrong completely normal and the smell of a diesel engine oil is different from a cars oil
Yea that tool works.. but so does the finger of a big damn man hand!!!
😂😂😂
I only run mopar oil filters on my cummins
We did an oil filter relocation kit on my father n laws Cummins . Makes oil changes a lot easier
Yea that filter change is not in a good spot
Definitely relocate
I run the Napa Platinum with the synthetic Dello. 2010 6.7 haven’t had any issues.
Diesel oil goes black soon after changes. It's normal. Black oil in a diesel does not automatically need a change. To each their own, but you should have left the stock break in oil in there longer than 2500 mi. Changing oil too soon, especially in a new truck, will actually be detrimental to the engine. Especially with modern synthetics, they reach their optimum properties about mid way through the recommended oil change intervals. Early changes defeat the purpose.
Lmao! @ 6:01 "hey, how ya doing there partner?" That was unexpected & funny as hell 🤙🏼🤙🏼
It looks like that filter will restrict the oil flow, no bueno. I use Fleetguard LF16035
i think i mite switch seams like everybody has been commenting about fleetguard
Ran motorcraft oil and OEM filter in my 6.7 just past 10,000 for break in, switched to Amsoil 6x, Amsoil filter...now considering adding the bypass filter kit and get the added protection/filter more soot down to 5 microns.
Mopar filters I think are still made by Fleetguard! = Good Thing! The FG Stratapore (Synthetic Media not Paper) is a great fit for the 6.7L
From my understanding, if the oil turns black right away, let’s say within the first 100 miles of doing an oil change. it’s normal. At least thats what I keep hearing. But when I bought my truck (2020 Ram 3500) it had about 35k miles on it and the oil looked brand new. Drove it around and still brand new oil. No signs of black oil anywhere. Then I did an oil change at 45k miles and drove around for about 20 min and instantly it turned black. Is that normal? Is there something I can do to prevent that? I get Deisel engines burn oil at a higher temp but just curious. Thanks in advanced.
No it’s going to start black because of the emissions, if u want clean oil u would have to delete the truck
Cummins OEM would be fleet guard filters , run the OEM fleet guard filter for anything on a Cummins bruh , oil would be cleaner next oil change
From my 2019 RAM Owners Manual, the 6.7 Cummins diesel can use two grades of oil;
10W-30 (which type is not specified in Owners Manual) for ambient temps ABOVE -18'C (0'F)
5W-40 SYNTHETIC for ambient temps BELOW -18'C (0'F).
I live in the Toronto area in Canada. Winter temps can easily go below -18'C so I will be using 5W-40 synthetic when I change my oil.
Manual also states to change oil every 12 months, or 24,000km. (15,000 miles), OR sooner if the Oil Change indicator system tells you to do it.
You need to use a fleet guard filter, I don’t understand why you put a junk filter on a expensive truck,
Eddie, my deleted duramax used to have very clean oil for a long time as well. Now that I have a deleted 6.7, the oil turns black almost immediately. It's just a Cummins thing. Also, cummins doesn't reccomend using 5-40 unless its gonna be below freezing alot. You can buy 15-40 full synthetic rotella on Amazon :)
donaldson DBL7339 is the filter you want my man.. 15 micron rating vs 25 on the napa and others.
I wonder if you install an oil bypass filter system on your truck would help. I hear it does.
I’ve been a diesel mechanic for over 20yrs before all the new emission laws and the diesel oil always been black after a oil change . In regards to the oil filter I would use oem dirty oil goes in thru the holes and gets filtered thru the media and out the middle. Orilleys has the oem filter for $14
I have a couple non emissions diesels also, the oil becomes black almost instantly after changing oil.
Warranty is issue on new trucks
That’s normal...it’s from blow by. But I understand what you are saying.
Eddie rotella has a t6 synthetic in a 15w-40 version for summertime use, I don't know how I feel about putting 5-40 in cali, mine starts up at 55-51 psi when its ambient temp in Texas and 33 at idle when its 201 degrees, also it takes 12 quarts when you use the stock filter and don't spill any lol
It's a diesel engine it will always be dark color oil. Oil change is states in manual is 15K miles. The dash next oil change is every 6K to 10K miles. But I like that gasket cover to keeping it clean. Thanks.
Changing your oil with only 2700 miles in it?
Yes sir
@@EddieLife3500 wozzers, money to burn eh? LOL
Money to burn and clean oil
It's a cummins oil is going to be black. I change my oil to often in my 05 5.9 and it is always black .
My 4th gen ram has been deleted and tuned its whole life. Oil is always black when I change it.
Fleetguard oil filters are the best for cummins
also maybe not with emissions trucks but Rotella is stinky out the exhaust. Cummins recommends Valvoline blue
Who knows anything about the fleet guard filters. I thought I read something about fleet guard makes the ram/cummins oem oil filters. Does napa sell them?
Fleet guard by Cummins Filtration are excellent filter. See the stratapore white paper on the Cummins filtration website for more info
Fleetgard is made from Cummins and that's what Cummins big trucks engines come with from the factory.
You should get the hose thing you hook to the pan to avoid oil mess from genos garage
Do you still run the Rotella T6 in the summer months? I live in Las Vegas and want to make sure it will work fine for my 2021 6.7 cummins?
Eddie, a couple of suggestions, you will thank me later
Get a femco drain plug - mess free oil changes. Femco Compact LB 7090020186 M18 x 1.5-T10
Start using Cummins Filtration - Stratapore LF16035 filter recommended by Cummins see the white paper on these at Gino’s garage
Send a sample of your oil to the lab, I think your subscribers would benefit from that.
Recommended oil change interval is 15k, I change mine at 10k - Delo 400 synth from Costco (on sale $29/case). I send off a sample two or three times a year to the lab. So far 202k on my 16’ limited AISN SRW 3500 and all is good. Let me know if you want to see my lab report
Thanks for the videos
The correct filter is Napa Gold 7620Xe not just a 7620
I bet effrin could of told you how much oil the new trucks takes.
You definitely respect and take care of your shit!
I used to know a PhD chemist that worked for a shell refinery here in south Louisiana and he swore by rotella oil. He ran it in a Pontiac sunfire and got 540k miles out of it
Hey Eddie when I fill the new filter I will turn it upside down in the package so it stabilizes and won't tip over.
It’ll be cool if you made a video of you washing the truck but the tires need to be degreased the white lettering looks a bit brown.
Eddie use Fram filters
Deleted or not, diesel oil will always be black,
What i’d pick in that situation mostly depends on what there rated for filtration. Personally in my truck (gasser) I don’t run OEM, I run a Mobil 1 filter because of how it compares to OEM. OEM is only rated 98% @ 40 microns, Mobil 1 is rated 99+% @ 30 microns. They both have the same number of holes but the holes in the Mobil 1 are bigger then OEM. The only OEM available now has a plastic center tube (there used to be two versions available one steel center, one plastic. I really don’t trust the plastic) the Mobil 1 has a steel center, & the Mobil 1 also has 30% more filtration media. I’d really like to find something very similar but rated at least 99.99% @ 20 microns, that would be fantastic. However I haven’t found anything like that thats legit and will fit my truck. Realistically though I’ve been running this filter for a while now and I’m pretty happy with it. I change it every 6k and it comes out looking about 50% (not pitch black but not brandy new either).
What’s was the reason you went with the rotella oil? I believe Cummins recommends valvoline blue synthetic
I’ve got over a million miles on gas vehicles running the Napa gold filters. No issues for me. I always filled with oil first also.
New cummins H.O.
Manual says 5w-40 Rotella synthetic
Or 10w-30 Synthetic
crawlineb okay so ram is saying use the shell and Cummins is saying use valvoline premium blue.
How many engine hours do you have? I’ve heard that idle time allows for diesel to get into the oil and contaminate.
Mojo from the cylinder head
JB Reviews wrong, the diesel fuel gets into the oil from the rings. The rings can’t stop all fuel from getting past them.
Devo Dar roger that!
I always use OEM filters and parts when I can. Price now a days are normally close on OEM parts. My 2015 6.7L Powerstroke takes 15 quarts. Nice job on your oil change.
Plymouth Man apparently you don’t know how much oil your truck takes
@@22newegg so how many quarts do I need?
13 quarts. Not 15
13 Quarts for a oil change , ford had a miss print and put 15 quarts in some of the maintenance books.
@@22newegg WOW, so you really now my truck. I guess I'll have to take off that bypass oil filer and scrap the Caterpillar oil filter mod so you can be correct. DUMB ASS. Don't tell me what you don't know! It's my truck and I know what oil it takes, thanks for playing.
normal for all diesels, for engine oil to be black all the time, is due to high compression ratios in diesel engines, and having higher blow by, caused by higher compression ratios , causing unburned and burned fuel to by pass piston rings and get into oil, because every engine has blow by, even new engines, want to keep oil cleaner longer put a by pass oil filtration system on it, like all big rigs have, because it filters oil 20-30 times better, but can not replace regular oil filter,
Why didn’t the duramax do good with synthetic?
My 1999 Cummins and 2005 Cummins, oil would be black after a few hundred miles. Always ran Shell Rotella oil and Wix filters.
Leave filter in box sitting on the floor, it will stand up to fill filter
Do a CAT oil and fuel filter conversion
Fleetguard stratapore only
Color of oil means nada. Oil sample is the only way knowing how good the oil is holding up. It also holds 12qts...it takes a while to work its way down to the oil pan.
On my C 6.7 I use fram oil filter an Amazon syn. An she’s good every 5k
I seen a video on different brands of filters and they say fram is the worst filter to buy
Hi flow oil filters..stay with the OEM..
I put the filter back in the box to fill it
Poor Eddie ...Sounds so defeated draining that oil lol the EPA crack down is a bummer hopefully parts fall off that cummins soon and they back off
Hey eddie I keep seeing the drone you should do a video on it!!
Wix 57620xp is the recommendation if you’re running synthetic oil it has a different media inside. I’ve been running that filter on my 5.9 w/compound turbos I also ran T6 5w40 also for over 70k miles. My raptor toy-hauler weighs a bit over 16k max gvw. I have hauled it out to Santee Lakes numerous times. Headed to camp RZR in Glamis 25th October.
I’ll be pulling my Raptor with my new Demonico Red 2019 Ram 3500 HO 6.7 With Aisan w/DRW.
Hi Eddie, I saw they grease the Front drive shaft every time make the oil change, I cannot find this point in my 2019 RAM 3500, could you find yours ? Thanks.
The ujoint is a different design; no fitting on 2019s.
@@walterk1221 Thanks, that's why I cannot find it :)
@@dmtycn you are most welcome.
What about the CAT filters? And i heard Amsoil was one of the best to run.
You got me that was the axle oil 🤔🤔🤔
I use OEM.
If you tighten the filter by hand you won’t need to use the filter pliers to take it off
Dmaxryno video, Prestons shop is closing down, might be a bigger place for your shop? 🤷🏻♂️😀
Most cummins take more than 12 courts Also black oil don’t mean squat in a diesel thay turn black quick and basically the only time to be worried is if you see metallic contamination. Other wise I’d say your safe for 5-8k miles between changes
Should also do fuel filters with every other oil change
Nope, fuel filters at 15000 just like oil and oil filter.
Walter K 15k is to long with the quality of diesel in the us unless you use the same station every time you fill up you have no clue how dirty the filters get. I change mine every other oil change I change my oil every 5k miles
@@samgrabel8648 sorry but you are *NOT* smarter than the ENGINEERS at Cummins Engine Company. If you were, you would be working for Cummins. It doesn't matter what mythology you believe.
@@samgrabel8648 15000 oil/oilfilter/fuelfilters is the interval.
Walter K honestly that’s a maximum suggested interval But depending on quality and conditions.
Dude i would use all OEM if that thing is that new that way they cannot give u any BS if u take it in for warranty work or if u have any problems with the truck...
Not to sound like a douche bag, but I hate this logic of 'Oh run OEM everything in case it breaks' like, first off if I buy a 70-80k dollar diesel like this, if that thing breaks before the 100k mile warranty or whatever I'm parking it at the dealer until it's fixed, I don't care what brand of whatever is on it that's utter garbage. If they refuse to fix it, I'm writing 1,000 terrible reviews on their website and every google review option for them with fake accounts. And then I'm calling my lawyer to tell them to fix the truck because it wasn't the oils fault or the non OEM part. And then if they refuse to fix it after all of that, I'm gonna go okay fine, and drive to the closest dealer of another brand and tell them to fix it and win my brand loyalty. And then once it finally gets fixed, I'm selling that worthless piece of garbage truck and buying a new one because if it breaks that early in its life it's already plagued and full of other problems and is a garbage vehicle.
And that is why I'll put any brand of anything I want on my truck whenever I want. Dealerships and manufacture's don't want these things to run 500, 600, 700k miles with no problems because dealers make like 80% of their profit at their mechanic shops and the only 30% on used cars and they lose 10% selling you a new one because the other 2 will makes them more money anyway when you come back to them. So they're specifically built to have certain parts fail at different variables, but never when the warranty is in affect. The way to get around that is to stop using bad OEM parts and putting parts on from well trusted after market companies because they make their money by earning the life long support of their customers who will buy their products for their personal vehicles and their wife's vehicle and their mom's vehicle and tell all of their friends about it.
I know this is an old video , but I discovered something. I think you will like ...
#1 Cat oil filter # 396-4596 ( no adapter needed )
#2 Amsoil Bypass filter ( 2 micron absolute )
#3 Hotshot secret Black Diamond 15w40
Full Group 4 PAO , not that group 3 " full synthetic " we are all used to
Oil analysis is showing engine wear from 59ppm average down to 21ppm average over 6 oil changes , and MPG is up from 17.3 to 18.7 over 5k mile average
If you check your truck's manual, you will see that you only need to change your filter every 15k miles/6months/500 hours, whichever comes first. Remember that your truck takes a lot more oil than the average vehicle out there so that gives you the benefit of not needing to change your oil so often.
Never seen clean oil come out of an oil change especially when it comes to any diesel engine
To begin with diesel fuel is what is leftover after they make gas
Gotta Love those Diesel fumes 💪
Thanks for sharing your 1st oil change 👍
Your Duramax didn’t like synthetic, did it tell you that it doesn’t like synthetic? Please explain.
hey curious what issues you had with t6 full synthetic in your LML? I just bought that to do my oil change on my 2016 LML
culpjon I have a 16 lml and run T6 in it with no issues. T6 is the best oil you can buy right there with Mobil.
@@Josh-uf1rv You should look up Amsoil, it's actually the best oil you can buy none of the giant billion dollar companies can compete with their trash oil. Amsoil invented Synthetic oils.
dedalliance1 yeah I’ve heard of them. Oil samples from the pickup and from machinery show T6 is actually very good oil. I can’t see spending that much more for something I don’t know when I have actual proof T6 is good oil.
@@Josh-uf1rv You can send in samples to Amsoil too, and if you do they rate their oils at 25k miles or 1 year, and warranty it. That's putting their money where there mouth is, you should try it and compare the results just for fun.
dedalliance1 yeah would be worth a shot. And interesting to say the least.
Is Napa better then advance parts ?
Napa’s filters seem to be good ones. Don’t know about advance.
Always stay with OEM filters while it’s under manufacturer warranty that eliminates any dealer from trying to deny warranty for an oil related problem
I use Amsoil True Synthetic with Amsoil filter. Best synthetic oil on the market!!
Plus, Amsoil guarantees their oil no matter how many miles you have on it. Comes with a 25,000 mile filter and True Synthetic oil and oil filter.
Never had trouble out of the Best oil on the market Amsoil!!
Now that change mine about every 12,000 miles, and Never had a problem with Amsoil Oil and Oil filter. 💯Quality True Synthetic Oil. Most of your oils out there call themselves Synthetic, but there not True Synthetic!!!
Just about All Other Companies makes Blended Synthetic. I’m just say Amsoil has Never let me done!! 👍🏻💯
@@Volsman5150 I've seen multiple videos on Amsoil Synthetic being the top overall oil in the business. It has run multiple head to head competitions against the top brands. I will be looking into Amsoil when I get my truck in a few months.
David Brown its the Best Oil on the Market. Sams/Walmart tried to give Amsoil over $900,000 million dollars a year to let them sale it in and their stores and Amsoil said No!!
That’s because Amsoil has it’s Independent sales reps and it’s a family owned business that’s not all about the money!!! Best gaurentee on the market of any oil on the Sold!!!
Brake clean leaves a residue that you are flushing into the motor
I thought the 2019 6.7 cummins uses t6 10/30 ?
You are correct 10w30 is preferred and Rotella T6 is called out in the owner manual. However, Cummins allows 5w40 providing it meets CK4 or CES20086.
And one more thing do not use shell oil , stuck with schaeffer oil for 6.7 cummins 5w40 best oil on the market, I use it on all my diesels
Actually you *do* have to fill the filter. The Factory Service Manual says this is a must.
God damn I once went 12 thousand miles in a second gen dodge before changing the oil and it was cleaner than that. That is fucking crazy. Screw the epa.
Why not put a CAT oil filter on it ?
Check out Geno’s garage, I order all my oem filters from there for my 18 ram, and you can get all the filters for a fair price
cummins and powerstroke oil gets dark fast. And I stick with OEM I never go with another brand.
