I agree totally, makes me miss my dad so much more as he would have loved my boy and I wish I could see those moments between them. that moment in this video warms my heart so much. cheers, Dan
Your Pops is feeling 37s on the Ram with less gears vs stock tires and 10 speed in the dmax . Makes a big difference. No denying that the Cummins is a freight train either way though
Lots of videos to prove you made the right purchase. Chevy vs. Ford vs. Dodge predates you driving a truck. Enjoy your purchase and keep buying whatever you want. I do enjoy the dad/son banter. Miss that with my old man.
Father knows best. Live with it. No different then with my son. Nice video. Good banter. My choice is I will ride with your dad in his truck. Ear plugs are for mowing grass, chain saws, and racing. Not daily drivers and tow vehicles. Dad is right. Enjoy your time together.
When comparing the two trucks mechanicly the 2020 Duramax is superior. The Duramax has a larger radiator, larger oil coolers, aluminum radiator not plastic plus 4" larger diameter, Ram air, fuel coolers, turbo timer and deft system cleaning system. The Duramax will keep it's max torque far longer in the heat of the summer due to its superior cooling systems and last but certainly not least the Allison transmission.
I’ve had a 17’ 2500 megacab and now have a 19’ 3500 SRW megacab. Huge difference. The leaf springs. The lower ride. The extra 50lb ft. Sounds more throaty and noticed it pulls like a freight train. Towing 13K up this small hill my 17 use to downshift. In my 19’ same hill I hear the turbo kick in and the throaty Cummins gets louder. Ride and comfort is way way better on highway. Much smoother. My 17’ had bilstein for sandy off-road was better. But on washboards gravel roads no difference. 19’ is a lot quieter. I went from a 14 2500 6.4 hemi crew to a 17’ Cummins megacab and when I thought it wouldn’t get better. The 19’ is refined and just the lil tweaks are noticeable. Hell of a truck.
‘22 Ram 2500 limited, 3” lift, 35’s, timbren load helpers. I towed my 39ft Montana 5th wheel home from the river this last weekend back home to El Cajon and was very impressed with the way it towed! I do wish it had a few more gears in the transmission to help you get up to speed quicker but other than that it’s a phenomenal truck!
Also 37” tires definitely make a big difference pulling but with the 37”tires it’s still pulling amazing I mean it’s definitely not dropping speed for sure
You can tell your son loves his Pops and Pops love him! Im the same way with my grandkids. Oh and I have a 2020 GMC 2500 duramax and it rides like and handles like a dream.
You basically cannot go wrong with either of these trucks. I chose the 2021 GMC 3500 because I sold my 2006 Silverado LBZ I owned for 11 years for more $ than I paid and had very few issues with my truck. :) Thanks for the fun Vid!
2019 ram 3500 longhorn daily driver. I agree Eddy that the trans it not smooth I think it a heavy duty and not focused on smooth but reliable. Believe that ram is heavier all the way around.
Your truck looks sick... but I like the smooth ride and quiet of the denali. Got that old timer steez. I absolutely loved when little man came out and stole him away. Brightened that old grumpy dude's day right up. You're a blessed man Eddie.
The Duramax and that 10 speed in the early stages so far is done really well. I dont think the exhaust break on the Duramax is close to the Ram. I think it's just like you said, you really cant go wrong with either truck. BTW your RAM is pretty damn loud. Haha
Towing with 37s vs stock tires is no comparison at all. Plus when you were at "70" I bet the speedo isn't recalibrated and you're actually at 77. Also, I don't know what the duramax's temps were, but in the Ram, they were impressively low every time you glanced at the dash.
Your dad is hilarious bro! My dad says the same things about his diesel excursion versus my 2019 Ram 3500. There’s gonna be a day when you’re gonna be talking smack to your little guy about his truck, but I’m sure it’s all in fun. The best part of the video was when your son video bombed and stole your dad away. Priceless!
2016 tuned efi live, flo pro turbo back no muffler, stock tires pulls 18,000 with a gmc duramax on the goose neck trailer and lovin it! I didn’t buy a diesel for a Cadillac ride or to put piss in the def tank. The exhaust noise keeps me awake
the duramax and Alison will not be beat in stock form. I will say no one makes junk they are all great but that V8 and trans are amazing together. its so quite and refined as well
'going UP to the Ike tunnel...Ram clearly takes it with less brake applications'.....whaaaat? Ford won the Ike test in a 5-0 sweep by the guys so, there's that.
Have a deleted tuned and lifted 2010 RAM 2500 Laramie and all I had to do was put a diamond eye inline muffler on the 5" straight thru exhaust because when towing I couldnt hear myself think! It is a beast and I pull my 5th wheel up thru the Rocky Mountain West at 70 mph and still get 12 mpg!
Your right all 3 of the diesel trucks will tow everything that the average guy will tow. I have your exact truck all stock except a tune and I thought the same thing my truck tows better than all (Cummins for life). I recently towed with my buddies 2020 f350 with the ten speed and i have to admit I thought it towed nicer than mine and his still has all that EPA junk on it. Oh his 5th wheel is heavier than mine. Really has me thinking about trading mine for one. U need to find someone with one and check it out for yourself! Great videos keep them 👍 coming
I have a tuned ram 2500 lifted 6 inches on 37s not deleted though but I feel it much better than my previous GMC towing some good stuff for work. IMO these trucks are a beast
I've got the 2018 3500 4th gen. DRW, with the Aisin and 4;10's. Its all stock, and I haul a 4400 lb truck camper with no problems, and I love mine just the way it is. Keep them videos coming.
Apples to Oranges, but still a fun comparison. I'm a Dodge guy myself, but I'll tell you ride quality is far superior on the GM platform than both Dodge/Ram and Ford, but again comparing IFS to Sold Axle isn't exactly apples to apples. You said it best, all these new trucks can tow more than most people will ever need(even on 37's!). It just comes down to personal preference.
At 70 mph transmissions on both trucks 1to1 gm axle 3.42 2365 rpm with 34” tires. Ram axle 3.73 2371 rpm with 37” tires. Ram with 34” tires 2580 rpm. Looks like the transmission is where it’s at. 10 gears are better then 6 you can split them up more. How durable the transmission will be time will tell? Great video I really like watching your videos with you and your dad I miss my old man.
I just bought 2021 Chevy Duramax thanks for video. Can't wait to pull my 34' travel trailer with it Chevy LUV. I Traded in my 2018 Ram 2500 6.4 for Chevy. Your Dad an Son were Awesome to watch.
Can only speak for the Cummins since that's what I have. Pulled a 30 foot 14k Tiny house from Northern Washington to So Cal with my 2018 Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel with ease. No problems whatsoever. Live this truck!
I loooooove my Duramax's - 2013, 2020. Fo Sho! I have Ikon 2.5 " shocks all around and AirLift Load Lifter 5000 connected to Viair onboard air... I do like the quietness interior and exterior. With the right tuning, it's a sleepa. Light sleepa.
I’ve drove all of them just because I’m in the car business. I prefer the Duramax they always seem to hold value better 😐 and the ride seems to be better over Dodge, Dodge is stiffer. I promise you I am as old as your dad, I don’t like them lifts on trucks either just my opinion. But with that being said opinions are like🤦🏻♂️ everybody’s got one🤣 I do like the interior better on the Dodge though..
Both trucks are beautiful, Gmc exterior Ram interior but in the end Duramax and Allison have been the most reliable , even if the the 10speed is a branded one .. Gm owned Allison til last 2000s .. so they have a lot of experience with Allison..there is a reason Ram has an AAM axle like Gm and is possibly getting an Allison.. Eddie I used own an apple orchard in Washington state before moving to San Diego , I don’t miss the exhaust from our John Deere 2240s , yuck , it’s got a lot of sulfur , which is also used for agricultural purposes to kill mildew and insects ... I enjoy fresh air ,,the urea in def tank is basically liquid nitrogen mixed with water a lot less harmful than sulfur in diesel .. I got a lot of breathing issues with diesel exhaust for over 30 yrs being around it .. keep it stock and maintain it . It’s there for a reason ..peace
The gmc is rack and pinion stearin independent front suspension. The ram is solid front axle with a stearin box. Of course it’s gonna be a different experience
Eddie, I have a 3500 Limited like you’re, but the 68rfe. I recently test drove two 2020 Fords and damn near fell in love. I’m honestly leaning towards the ford with that 10 speed. My Ram is stock still and it feels very dated as far as drivability goes, the appearance is the best, but the lack of a 10 speed, larger cab, larger bed, smooth ride has me thinking about changing. This new limited feels too much like my 4th gen Ram except it’s way more expensive. The ford lacks on interior, but that’s all IMO.
My only issue with RAMS is that they are plagued with reliability issues. I know you don't have a problem, but so many people have been burned by FIAT. I love the looks, interior and even the power. I just need it to be reliable.
2016 ram 2500 crew cab long bed 4x4. Stock truck, no delete, no tune. Pulling a 40ft gooseneck with load is about 16k. Average mpg driving from VA to WA was around 12 till I got to Montana mountains. Curious what it would be with delete and mild tune but very happy with the truck as it is now
All my work trucks are Powerstrokes and my brother owns a duramax and they tow about the same. I don’t really like how they tow almost like a gas engine would always going through the gears. Now own a cummins and love how it wants to just hold a gear and pull. Feel like that’s what diesels should feel like just pulling not shifting. Just my opinion.
I’ve always been a Chevy fan. Die hard, but that’s with classics an gas rides.. But I’ve driven every diesel and hands down I will take a Cummins all day long. The looks, interior an that inline 6 will never be beat and the pure power in unmatched to me. You have a very beautiful rig.
It's the Allison transmission that makes a huge difference! I've got a 2015 6.7L Powerstroke with 37's and I wouldn't trade it for Duramax or Cummins! I guess that's why Baskin Robbins has so many flavors!
I'm usually all about re gearing a truck but in this case don't waste your money on this truck next year when Cummins gets a 10 speed trade your truck in
well Supposedly there are rumors saying that the new transmission will be able to bolt up to the 19 and 2020 Rams I don't know if this is true it sounds way too good to be true but I am very curious to see
Yes I agree. Just as I'm typing my comment on how loud it is in the Ram your pop says how your yelling. Lol. Gotta say the Chevy is so much quieter in the cab.
It’s not only the RAM truck but the tires have a lot to do with it. Love my Damax pulling my 40ft 5th wheel. The noise and wiggle is the tires. That’s normal. Nice truck though.
If you didn’t change the gear ratios and added a taller tire you’re actually going closer to 74-75 mph when showing 70.2 on the gauge doing quick math. Plus you’ll be getting better mileage in the Ram even with the disadvantages of the 6 speed vs the 8 or 10 speed
If you had stock sized tires it would have stayed in 5th 90 percent of the time. I just went from stock to 35s on my 2500 and it acts the same as yours. My dad has a duramax and we did a similar test. He has the 6 speed Allison and it downshifted quite a bit in the mountains. Mine only downshifted once. The low end torque on my Cummins is better, but his rides nicer.
I'm a GM guy, in the defense of the RAM it's the diameter of the tires. I see it all the time off roading. The bigger tired stock trucks always lose!! Like pop's says, keep it stock! My 5.3 Silverado AVERARGES 24 MPG at 74 to 76 MPH all the Time on long trips. I've even have averarged 26 MPG at 72 MPH with the cruise control on!! But the dmax is more efficient...
I got a 19 Gmc no more duramax pigtail shorted and lost a injector coming through a reservation 200 miles from closest dealer and wouldn’t warranty it.....40k miles and losing an injector that is a common problem on there TSB that they won’t recall upsetting
Another great video! Your dad obviously has some brand loyalty to the Duramax, and that's ok. Pickup drivers are nothing if not ferociously brand loyal! But, he makes some good points too. I have a 2019 Ram 3500 6.7 HO/Aisin Limited, basically the same truck as yours, but mine is still stock. I only have about 800 miles on mine, and haven't pulled my toy hauler much yet, except for around town, but I love this truck! Prior to this I had a stock 2015 Ram 2500 Laramie with the 6.4 Hemi and 4:10 rear and coil springs in the rear. I loved that truck too, but, I think the new 3500 actually rides better than the 2500 did and its definitely quieter. Do I think the Aisin is the smoothest shifting most efficient transmission? No! Do I think a 10 speed trans allows any vehicle the ability to stay within the optimum power/torque range? Yes! But, I do think the Aisin is a proven work horse that is a good fit to the Cummins power and torque, and I actually like some of its crudeness because it reminds me that in spite of the luxurious surroundings, smooth ride, and quiet interior, your still driving a monster work horse!
Your rpms will be lower with a taller tire than your stock tires. Also a 6spd to 10spd trans is comparing apples to oranges. But keep up the cool vids man!
Pops is messing with you...6sp on 37s and stock tune vs 10sp stock but if you would've put it on tow tune he would've said but you have a tune on it..He had his priorities straight when the grandchild came out😁
I guarantee if I was driving both your dad's Chevy and your ram, I could get both those up to sleep pretty quick, I don't mess around with the throttle unless I'm hauling like around bales or farm machinery, then I don't go 100 percent full throttle, but when I pull my dad's camper and other trailers, I go full throttle.
Don't dude, When comparing the two trucks mechanicly the 2020 Duramax is superior. The Duramax has a larger radiator, larger oil coolers, aluminum radiator not plastic plus 4" larger diameter, Ram air, fuel coolers, turbo timer and deft system cleaning system. The Duramax will keep it's max torque far longer in the heat of the summer due to its superior cooling systems and last but certainly not least the Allison transmission
Great Video Eddie Dads really cool After your video with CJC off road I'm deciding whether or not to level the front They told me leveling would not affect my tow ratings it just looks better level to me my only concern is When I'm pulling my travel trailer will it squat what's your thoughts curious to know
So I am in the market of buying a diesel and choosing between the Duramax 2500HD and Cummins 2500HD. But after seeing this video you were comparing a 3500 vs 2500HD? Should of been 2500 vs 2500 in this video. Just my 2 cent. The Ram interior looks good.
Im a duramax guy too, but I have to give it to the New Rams they look bad ass. I know your saying that the cummin guys are gonna say hey he has 37s, but you are also deleted and the GMC is completely stock.
Ur pops is a big dude and he looks like he doesnt take any shit from anybody, but the moment his grandson showed up he became a huge teddy bear..hahaha thats so cool.. reminds me of my dad and my son..
Best part. Your son running to Pops........And Pops face LIGHTS UP!
I love it he's so gruff then he's politely like "sorry UA-cam, I gotta run. Priorities." then he skips off with the little guy.
I am a Duramax guy but I sure like the look of your Ram, that interior is bad ass
I've owned all 3 and for sure RAM = better quality, style and more thought out
Denali dash looks the same as a $25k Chevy Colorado!
You guys are blessed and fortunate to have nice trucks, trailers and each other.
Father knows best. Live with it. No different then with my son. Nice video. Good banter. My choice is I will ride with your dad in his truck. Ear plugs are for mowing grass, chain saws, and racing. Not daily drivers and tow vehicles. Dad is right. Enjoy your time together.
Screw the trucks. Pops lights up when little man comes running.
Priceless!
They both pulled excellent I just love my GM so I’ll keep her
When comparing the two trucks mechanicly the 2020 Duramax is superior.
Sweet ram the interior is awesome, tires too big to pull efficiently but ok on short trips.
Ram sounds bad ass .best truck interior in the market
Pops a good man - my uncle and Grandpa would drop any and everything for me... It was a pleasure to see that
You can tell your son loves his Pops and Pops love him! Im the same way with my grandkids. Oh and I have a 2020 GMC 2500 duramax and it rides like and handles like a dream.
Just imagine your RPMs when you have an Allison 22 Speed Transmission #future and a 4.10 rear end
Your Dad Has Good Taste Duramax
My brother put 37s on his Cummins, granted it's an 07 with the pre emissions 5.9 liter, but he said it kinda killed his bottom end torque.
ya thats what i have noticed
Great video! Love seeing you and pops interact. Cherish those moments, miss my pops.
Exactly!
For you it's maybe a normal thing, it's Not, it's Very special!!!!!
Enjoy it 👍
I've got 2019, 1000 ft-lb High Output, Aisan trans, mega cab 3500. No mods
It's a bumpy ride and I hate the way the transmission shifts/lags
Finally, an honest review
You basically cannot go wrong with either of these trucks. I chose the 2021 GMC 3500 because I sold my 2006 Silverado LBZ I owned for 11 years for more $ than I paid and had very few issues with my truck. :) Thanks for the fun Vid!
2019 ram 3500 longhorn daily driver. I agree Eddy that the trans it not smooth I think it a heavy duty and not focused on smooth but reliable. Believe that ram is heavier all the way around.
Your Pops is great man. All 3 of the big 3 are going to perform its personal preference! It’s great to have choices! Lol
I think the Cummins pulled great and has nice 37s. I love hearing that Cummins engine.
I love your dad buddy and believe me he’s blessed and so are you by having him in your life you can see his goodness
I’m with your pops on this one 😂 Great job on the video’s 👍
Duramax all day!
InstaBlaster...
Your truck looks sick... but I like the smooth ride and quiet of the denali. Got that old timer steez. I absolutely loved when little man came out and stole him away. Brightened that old grumpy dude's day right up. You're a blessed man Eddie.
Thank you sir

my speedometer is calibrated and it is right on
Ahh okay, my apologies
Your dad is hilarious bro! My dad says the same things about his diesel excursion versus my 2019 Ram 3500. There’s gonna be a day when you’re gonna be talking smack to your little guy about his truck, but I’m sure it’s all in fun. Eddie, your dad need's to watch the review TFL did on both trucks going up to the IKE tunnel ... ! Ram clearly takes it with less brake applications.
Yes but the Ram was slow and maxed out going up the hill. I really cannot see how the ram can do 34K, when maxed at 30K already. (TFL)
'going UP to the Ike tunnel...Ram clearly takes it with less brake applications'.....whaaaat? Ford won the Ike test in a 5-0 sweep by the guys so, there's that.
@@Tom-Fisherman they all maxed out...the pedal was to the floor...ford won on time going up.
I don't think they used the exhaust brake
@@Tom-Fisherman they can do 34k in the max configuration truck witch is a 2wd single cab 3500
Dude! You're running lifted and 37's! You can't compare! I'll take the RAM all day long!
That Ram interior is bad ass. But DMax FTW.
I've always had a dodge so I'm kinda biased

Really has me thinking about trading mine for one. U need to find someone with one and check it out for yourself! Great videos keep them 👍 coming
i have a 2020 coming very soon to tow
I would take the Ram all day, but I am biased like pops. Cummins is so much simpler to work on. Love the low end growl and grunt of the Cummins.
Damn Eddie love the sound of the Ram. Yup I'd still take the Ram over the Duramax but there both good trucks though.
Haha that was me in the white dodge😂
man that shit dumped like crazy i love it
I have a tuned ram 2500 lifted 6 inches on 37s not deleted though but I feel it much better than my previous GMC towing some good stuff for work. IMO these trucks are a beast
Rammer all day, I have a 2015 Ram 3500 Mega Cab white single rear wheel and love the way it pulls.
I've got the 2018 3500 4th gen. DRW, with the Aisin and 4;10's. Its all stock, and I haul a 4400 lb truck camper with no problems, and I love mine just the way it is. Keep them videos coming.
I feel they were both equal as good but I’d rather take the Cummins it looks more like a big semi truck and sounds like one too
Apples to Oranges, but still a fun comparison. I'm a Dodge guy myself, but I'll tell you ride quality is far superior on the GM platform than both Dodge/Ram and Ford, but again comparing IFS to Sold Axle isn't exactly apples to apples. Lol love the video and your dad cracks me up! Keep it up! And I'm considering a RAM tbh
Omar Medel good! Rams the way to go!
I have to agree with Pops! All I could hear was that Cummins downshifting! 😂 Great video, especially pops becoming granpops at the end. ❤
Man I don’t know about your dad. Gets me kinda mad. Lol way to biased.
i agree haha
His Pops is biased but so is Eddie, so it’s up to each individual? Me personally I liked Eddie’s Duramax way better, just sayin . . .
Duramax is better.I have one.Makes towing easy.
Randy Allen lol try working on the Dmax then the Cummins sure it’s easy to like the Dmax but a different world to work on them
Mfj who is talking about working on them? Don’t get all hurt now.
I just bought 2021 Chevy Duramax thanks for video. Can't wait to pull my 34' travel trailer with it Chevy LUV. I Traded in my 2018 Ram 2500 6.4 for Chevy. Your Dad an Son were Awesome to watch.

Ram looks way better pulling into camp :P
I’ve drove all of them just because I’m in the car business. I prefer the Duramax they always seem to hold value better 😐 and the ride seems to be better over Dodge, Dodge is stiffer. I promise you I

Cummins with Allison = best combo. Why do you think they are in diesel pushers?
The gmc is rack and pinion stearin independent front suspension. The ram is solid front axle with a stearin box. Of course it’s gonna be a different experience

I went from a 2015 duramax to a 2018 cummins, and I'd take another Cummins for sure, but DAMN they gotta do something about those mirrors...
You do know that if you push the exhaust brake button twice, it will change over to automatic exhaust brake and the icon turns from gold to green!
ram had a sun roof. that will make a huge amount of noise compared to a truck with out a sunroof. keep that in mind
I just don’t get why you don’t have at least 100k subs. Great content Eddie.
It’s not only the RAM truck but the tires have a lot to do with it. Love my Damax pulling my 40ft 5th wheel. The noise and wiggle is the tires. That’s normal. Nice truck though.
The Dmax clearly pulled more effortlessly
Face-it Eddie the 10 speed Allison Chevy is better! Love the Vid! Pop's is classic!
hahaha
Sounds exactly like me and my dad. He's a big GMC guy, I'm a big Ram guy.
Your Pops cracks me up, love the guy!!!
Just like my old man............and that’s awesome.
The reason it seems to be heavier when pulling with the Cummins is because its louder so it seems like its working harder but its not
If you had stock sized tires it would have stayed in 5th 90 percent of the time.
Pops knows whats best DURAMAX !
Love and own both a Cummins and Duramax 👍
Your dad make good choices, D-Max vs Ram, He went with the D-Max. Grandson vs UA-cam, he went with the grandson!
exterior GMC interior Ram both nice trucks just a matter of preference
Trucks sounds awesome!
😂 Pops is telling the truth. Its OK Eddie, I love my Ford lol....
hahaha
Come on pops...be very honest. LOL.
Makes me want trade in my Ram :(
Don't dude, When comparing the two trucks mechanicly the 2020 Duramax is superior.
Great Video Eddie Dads really cool After your video with CJC off road I'm deciding whether or not to level the front They told me leveling would not affect my tow ratings it just looks better level to me my only concern is When I'm pulling my travel trailer will it squat what's your thoughts curious to know
Just get air bags to help the squat
And readjust your headlights so you arent blinding people lol
when they put the add a pack mine actually squatted less for me
Cant use tire size as an excuse. That chevy looked like it handled towing task much better.
Extra gears an 2 more cylinders an straight 6 vs v8 feel is much different
Im a duramax guy too, but I have to give it to the New Rams they look bad ass. I know your saying that the cummin guys are gonna say hey he has 37s, but you are also deleted and the GMC is completely stock.
i had it set to the stock file
Ur pops is a big dude and he looks like he doesnt take any shit from anybody, but the moment his grandson showed up he became a huge teddy bear..hahaha thats so cool.. reminds me of my dad and my son..
