I do wish it had a few more gears in the transmission to help you get up to speed quicker but other than that it’s a phenomenal truck!

Every brand has there problems I have friends that have had fords and they cannot even get past 10,000 miles because of how many overheating problems they have had, I tried a 2019 F350 I also did a video on it and that POS started over heating on me and the fan clutch would not shut off, so don’t even try to convince me about ford because I tried one and it was a joke
2016 tuned efi live, flo pro turbo back no muffler, stock tires pulls 18,000 with a gmc duramax on the goose neck trailer and lovin it! I didn’t buy a diesel for a Cadillac ride or to put piss in the def tank. The exhaust noise keeps me awake
I got a 19 Gmc no more duramax pigtail shorted and lost a injector coming through a reservation 200 miles from closest dealer and wouldn’t warranty it.....40k miles and losing an injector that is a common problem on there TSB that they won’t recall upsetting

That is why they have independent suspension and usually a lower towing capacity, and why they're pretty much guaranteed to have more problems that are more expensive to fix in the future if anyone makes them do real work. I'll take straight axles every day of the week. Trucks towing a load are not racing nascar, they're doing a job. And if you want one that will be great and fast doing it a few times, then sure, get a GMC, but I would rather have a truck that can work hard every day for twenty years and not have problems. You're not going to get that out of a GMC/Chevy. That kind of long life is also why I love a manual transmission. I just wish that I could still get one.
Your right all 3 of the diesel trucks will tow everything that the average guy will tow. I have your exact truck all stock except a tune and I thought the same thing my truck tows better than all (Cummins for life). I recently towed with my buddies 2020 f350 with the ten speed and i have to admit I thought it towed nicer than mine and his still has all that EPA junk on it. Oh his 5th wheel is heavier than mine. Really has me thinking about trading mine for one. U need to find someone with one and check it out for yourself! Great videos keep them 👍 coming

2016 ram 2500 crew cab long bed 4x4. Stock truck, no delete, no tune. Pulling a 40ft gooseneck with load is about 16k. Average mpg driving from VA to WA was around 12 till I got to Montana mountains. Curious what it would be with delete and mild tune but very happy with the truck as it is now
I went with GM I had a brand new Dodge duly dodge do not wish to back the truck the transmission went out three times without pulling anywhere near max load the last time I saw the truck it was going down the road On flatbed
Why don’t these trucks come with EGT.. that should be the key determinant in climbing the hill.. I saw it on the Cummins after market edge but didn’t see it on the duramax.. need to see the EGT

What size tires you got on the Rammer? Bigger tires will reduce or raise gear ratio. Big tires need to add gear. Go lower gear which is a higher number.

Have a deleted tuned and lifted 2010 RAM 2500 Laramie and all I had to do was put a diamond eye inline muffler on the 5" straight thru exhaust because when towing I couldnt hear myself think! It is a beast and I pull my 5th wheel up thru the Rocky Mountain West at 70 mph and still get 12 mpg!

When comparing the two trucks mechanicly the 2020 Duramax is superior. The Duramax has a larger radiator, larger oil coolers, aluminum radiator not plastic plus 4" larger diameter, Ram air, fuel coolers, turbo timer and deft system cleaning system. The Duramax will keep it's max torque far longer in the heat of the summer due to its superior cooling systems and last but certainly not least the Allison transmission.

Towing with 37s vs stock tires is no comparison at all. Plus when you were at "70" I bet the speedo isn't recalibrated and you're actually at 77. Also, I don't know what the duramax's temps were, but in the Ram, they were impressively low every time you glanced at the dash.
You basically cannot go wrong with either of these trucks. I chose the 2021 GMC 3500 because I sold my 2006 Silverado LBZ I owned for 11 years for more $ than I paid and had very few issues with my truck. :) Thanks for the fun Vid!

The v8 feels like it's got more power in a straight line because it's able to wrap faster. You start pulling the heavy hills and I mean heavy hills the V8 just does not have the torque as the in line 6. In the biggest proof of logic when it comes to that is why do you think they don't use V eights in semi trucks anymore. Because the and line 6 makes more low end torque
Most the years that I can remember that I didn't fuckup I spent on farms and in semi trucks I know exactly what the diesels will do. I'm going to eventually get me a One t crew cab short Box ram with the aisin transmission. I honestly would love to see you guys do the exact same pull with both trucks but doing the Eisenhower pass here in Colorado. That would really test both trucks right there.
the duramax and Alison will not be beat in stock form. I will say no one makes junk they are all great but that V8 and trans are amazing together. its so quite and refined as well

I’ve always been a Chevy fan. Die hard, but that’s with classics an gas rides.. But I’ve driven every diesel and hands down I will take a Cummins all day long. The looks, interior an that inline 6 will never be beat and the pure power in unmatched to me. You have a very beautiful rig.
Here south Louisiana most 3500 one ton guys here pull 40 foot mini float to haul oilfields equipments with DODGE RAM 3500 & 5500. Some try with chevy and Ford diesel but Dodge cum diesel best for job. It's quailty not what it look like. Chevy or ford can't out pull DODGE DIESEL.
All my work trucks are Powerstrokes and my brother owns a duramax and they tow about the same. I don’t really like how they tow almost like a gas engine would always going through the gears. Now own a cummins and love how it wants to just hold a gear and pull. Feel like that’s what diesels should feel like just pulling not shifting. Just my opinion.
I’ve had a 17’ 2500 megacab and now have a 19’ 3500 SRW megacab. Huge difference. The leaf springs. The lower ride. The extra 50lb ft. Sounds more throaty and noticed it pulls like a freight train. Towing 13K up this small hill my 17 use to downshift. In my 19’ same hill I hear the turbo kick in and the throaty Cummins gets louder. Ride and comfort is way way better on highway. Much smoother. My 17’ had bilstein for sandy off-road was better. But on washboards gravel roads no difference. 19’ is a lot quieter. I went from a 14 2500 6.4 hemi crew to a 17’ Cummins megacab and when I thought it wouldn’t get better. The 19’ is refined and just the lil tweaks are noticeable. Hell of a truck.

Your dad say's "save the money and, get a 2500" Chevy? I'm pretty sure that I paid less for my Ram 3500...either way you're not going to save any money. He needed to not drive your truck like a grampa and, get in it quicker...we all know the Cummins makes the power off idle at low rpm. You should have just put a pedal comander in it for him and, then have him drive it. I'm thinking that the Chevy "Cadallac" is the right truck for him and, all that he needs. We all have our prefferences!

With 37 the ram is still lower geared than the gmc because the gmc has a 3.42 gear and the ram has 4.10

The Duramax 10 Speed is not a Allison transmission.
If the Ford has an engine issue, you had better have a warranty!
Why not change the gear ratios to get some of that pulling power back? It will also save your transmission

I’ve always been a Chevy fan. Die hard, but that’s with classics an gas rides.. But I’ve driven every diesel and hands down I will take a Cummins all day long. The looks, interior an that inline 6 will never be beat and the pure power in unmatched to me. You have a very beautiful rig.
Here south Louisiana most 3500 one ton guys here pull 40 foot mini float to haul oilfields equipments with DODGE RAM 3500 & 5500. Some try with chevy and Ford diesel but Dodge cum diesel best for job. It's quailty not what it look like. Chevy or ford can't out pull DODGE DIESEL.

All my work trucks are Powerstrokes and my brother owns a duramax and they tow about the same. I don’t really like how they tow almost like a gas engine would always going through the gears. Now own a cummins and love how it wants to just hold a gear and pull. Feel like that’s what diesels should feel like just pulling not shifting. Just my opinion.
I’ve had a 17’ 2500 megacab and now have a 19’ 3500 SRW megacab. Huge difference. The leaf springs. The lower ride. The extra 50lb ft. Sounds more throaty and noticed it pulls like a freight train. Towing 13K up this small hill my 17 use to downshift. In my 19’ same hill I hear the turbo kick in and the throaty Cummins gets louder. Ride and comfort is way way better on highway. Much smoother. My 17’ had bilstein for sandy off-road was better. But on washboards gravel roads no difference. 19’ is a lot quieter. I went from a 14 2500
6.4 hemi crew to a 17’ Cummins megacab and when I thought it wouldn’t get better. The 19’ is refined and just the lil tweaks are noticeable. Hell of a truck.

My brother put 37s on his Cummins, granted it's an 07 with the pre emissions 5.9 liter, but he said it kinda killed his bottom end torque.

I have a tuned ram 2500 lifted 6 inches on 37s not deleted though but I feel it much better than my previous GMC towing some good stuff for work. IMO these trucks are a beast
3rd ram.. 2017 aisin, 4;10s auto level.. 385 hp, 900 lb ft torque.. the ram is much easier ti service, no glowplugs.. never wanting for more power.
I'm usually all about re gearing a truck but in this case don't waste your money on this truck next year when Cummins gets a 10 speed trade your truck in
well Supposedly there are rumors saying that the new transmission will be able to bolt up to the 19 and 2020 Rams I don't know if this is true it sounds way too good to be true but I am very curious to see
Still makes me laugh that the biggest duramax fan in the past is now bragging about Cummins being the best. Next will be a PowerStroke which the 2020s will straight up out perform them all.

Your dad say's "save the money and, get a 2500" Chevy? I'm pretty sure that I paid less for my Ram 3500...either way you're not going to save any money. He needed to not drive your truck like a grampa and, get in it quicker...we all know the Cummins makes the power off idle at low rpm. You should have just put a pedal comander in it for him and, then have him drive it. I'm thinking that the Chevy "Cadallac" is the right truck for him and, all that he needs. We all have our prefferences!
