I am deeply thankful for your video. My daughter was quoted $1800. at the Buick dealer to do this job on her ‘14 Enclave. I own a ‘12 Enclave. Many videos out there drop the engine down. I don’t have a lift and had to work on my garage floor with the car jacked up high. Without your video, I would have been lost. I followed it to the tee. The only part I varied from was that back bolt on the pump. I took it off reaching through the wheel well with a 3/8 ratchet with a short extension and a 15mm socket. Pump cost $216 with the pulley installed. Daughter’s gratitude priceless! Thanks guys!👍

Thank you sir, I have been pondering on this job for a while because my concern was always dropping the subframe, I am a DIYer and I did not want to do that. With this video no reason to drop any subframe. I pulled out the power-steering pump as in the video, simple.

Just did this pump on my 2015 Traverse. My plan was to go this route of going over the exhaust with the pump rather than dropping sub frame. Ran into some frustrations, as well I purchased the new pump without the pulley and fitting, they had to be transferred from the old pump. It cuts about 30-40% of the part cost by purchasing the one without pulley and fitting. Then after removing lines, unbolting the pump… position the pump pulley slightly down and to the rear of the vehicle so that it is facing the opening between the inner fender and a-arm mount. Remove the pulley with puller (factory pulley has a groove around the hub on the outside of the pulley for a puller, you do not have to get behind the pulley at all)… both come out no problem separately through the opening above the A-arm mount. Position new pump in same spot, use install tool to install pulley… bolt it in place, attach lines. About 1/3 the time to re and re this way then going up and over the exhaust and a lot less then dropping the sub frame along with not dealing with that mess. Takes longer to remove the wheel and tie rod then the pump itself.

Excellent video. Working on a Traverse and could not remember how the o-ring was installed for the feed line to the pump (non-pressure). For some reason I can't install it without it leaking. At least now I know I am installing properly. I think I need to disconnect the hose as it is keeping it "cock-eyed" as I tighten the 10mm bolt. I'll remove the hose so the elbow is 100% free to line up square with the pump.

I changed my pressure hose, but now have a lot of whine noise for weeks. Level seems fine, but maybe I have air in there, I'm going to see if I can get it all out, not sure if that is the noise or the pump is now gone, any ideas?

This is by far the best video I’ve seen on this but still worried this is outside my wheel house. Having to do this on the ground instead of a hydraulic lift makes it feel like it’ll be a lot harder that in the video.

Easiest way is to take off the hard line on the rack and pinion and with the pulley down pull it out between rack and motor

Hello, hey I have a 2012 Chevy Traverse LT trying to put the power steering pump on and I'm having the trouble that when I drop the subframe on the passenger side it's only going down two of the four in required to pull the power steering pump. Can you think of anything I could have done wrong?
