  • In this video, I'll finish a curved beam. This kind of beam cannot be processed by pre-cut machines. So this time, I'll adjust the shape by chain saw. I have to imagine how to process it in advance, so it's a difficult job. I think this kind of natural shaped materials make a unique atmosphere.

    Watching your enormous skills at work is so relaxing & absorbing Shoyan. I have never seen such skills like sharpening your chisels or a hand plane blade is so smooth that it looks as though you are not concentrating until suddenly you see those very tools at work & they are SO sharp & precise. Then to watch your skill with a hand saw & then with any & every power tool is spellbinding. Brilliant video my friend & thanks for sharing. Cheers, Don from South Australia.

    Your experience and skill of using the manual saw for making the Ari joint makes the process look so simple but it is totally not at all. You are very humble.

    I need to watch this many times. I'm grateful to you for sharing. There is so much I need to learn. My father was a cabinet maker. I see timber framing to be very similar to cabinetry. Carpentry framing is usually finished to hide the components of the build. This video shows me that the structure is exposed to see its function.
    I have questions about the tools: The planers and mortising drill press - Are these tools available in the USA? I have never seen them.
    Thank You

      At the basic level it is a standard code of construction based on units and position.
      Very much like a+b=c.
      A position + type of joint = structual outcome.
      This is fundamentally why such buildings and structures have a beauty that is timeless.

    Your machines that you use the 30 cm planer the mortise machine never seen anything like them. What is the planet machine you use that take a very thin skim off the timber to finish it like it has been polished so smooth never seen one of the keep the good work coming you are amazing 👍👍😀

    Makita 1002BA
    For you girls wondering: The Makita 1002BA is a 4-3/8 inch Curved Base Planer. The planer is used for creating arches and arcs in timbers and working on scarfs in logs.

  • @89Ayten
    @89Ayten 2 роки тому +1

    A curve cut out of a square log, meaning the grain is going straight and they are severed by the saw, is no where near as strong as a beam that's been steamed and bent.

    • @shaunpage4498
      @shaunpage4498 2 роки тому +1

      I bet a steel i-beam would be stronger than both! But maybe what he's making doesn't require that much strength. Come to think of it, maybe the beam he created is strong enough for whatever he's using it for.

    • @amaliopratti2068
      @amaliopratti2068 Рік тому

      @@shaunpage4498 I think that he chose a timber that had a wonky bend so that the grain complimenting the arch? I agree with you about cutting those fibers. Maybe he found a shitty timber that suited this build?
