@@CarConfections I re-watched your TLX Type-S video and couldn't find the sound level testing, I personally have a last gen MDX and a TLX Type-S, I feel TLX is very noisy. I also did a similar testing with summer/winter tires for my MDX with Apple Watch, the result is similar to yours. I'm wondering, why with similar laminated two-layer windows, TLX is so noisy 🤦♂️ I feel my ears hurting while driving TLX Type-S, the feeling is just like driving a Civic 😂
This silver color is good. But that tiger eye pearl, apex blue and performance red colors those are stunning. Usually this class tends to have pretty common colors. Basic colors at that like. Im glad acura knows that the automotive world is made of black, white and grey. The funny part is, brands have different types of black that make u pay extra for 😂.
I just bought my MDX, Type S Advance in Liquid Carbon Metallic and I love it! I would have to spend an extra 20k to 30k if I wanted a German equivalent with all the options.
The competition is aggressively competitive these days HOWEVER Acura has always held its own with the MDX and has never wavered from its success. Many other automakers (especially domestic) should take notes
Seem to need to buy the pricier optional "advanced" package in order to get some basics such as heated steering wheel and 360 camera... On a luxury vehicle I'd think those would be standard. My 2015 Murano SL has a heated steering wheel and 360 view type camera!
Functionally it is perfect in the current location. When it is placed on top, it does look better, but it creates a larger blindspot for the driver due to where is left unwiped.
Saw one at dusk in tiger eye pearl a few days ago looking so incredibly sharp. If I wasn’t grabbing a GV70 Sport, I’d seriously consider one of those. - Dope review as always.

@@joshharrison1160 that seems to be the case for most of Genesis' products. In our are, the GV80 has had a markup since it debuted. Then the new G90 has a $20K markup, putting it comfortably in S580 territory.
@@maga6319 The Lexus RX is very underwhelming with its performance even at its top trim with 367 HP. Even for a 4 engine cylinder system, it clocks in at mid 20 MPG which the German vehicles like GLE and X5 do and they both have a V6.
Love the elevation of the reviews, brothers! I love the overall design of the MDX. It seems to be just the right size and is great, proportionally. The ELS sound system is just perfection in audio crispness, clarity, and quality. Its shameful that most people have no clue that it is really one of the top offerings in the entire industry, mostly due to it not having the nomenclature of Burmester, Bowers & Wilkins, or Naim. The ELS system is also Acura's secret sauce in providing a library-hushed interior due to the superior noise-cancellation. As much as I love the Acura, for $73K, they should've went a bit further. The biggest demerit for me is the power. A base B58-equipped X5 will smoke this thing, as will a base GLE 450. I bring those up because Acura says it benchmarked "entry level German" luxury offerings. Yes, the Acura does offer more standard features, and certainly better equipped at $73K versus the Germans, but it is no longer a "value" option. One other major gripe is the fuel economy. For a small 3.0T, having 10 gears, and only weighing about 4500 pounds, 17/21/19 isn't going to cut it, again considering the Germans make similar power but at 6-8MPG more efficient.(reliability questions notwithstanding). To put it into perspective: It makes worse gas mileage than a Lincoln Navigator with 450hp and about the same as a Grand Wagoneer with 510HP(and two fewer gears) and both of those machines are behemoths by comparison. As with the TLX Type-S, it is inexplicably thirsty, despite not being geared aggressively like say...a BMW. I do believe it serves great purpose, but I would wait to get one as a lease return on the used market as a certified model to absorb some of the cost.
True, heard the gas consumption is horrendous. I wonder why they couldn't chuck a battery in there and make it a hybrid. could have helped market it better

It’s almost as well geared as the ZF 8 speed which is saying something. Sure it’s not x540i fast but it’s closer to it than you think and it has the chassis and handling to compete w the gv80 and x5

my Mercedes Gl 2014 which has V8 engine has a fuel economy 17/21 same like this MDX. it is larger , third row can take adults comfortably. it has 120,000 miles on it now, sill reliable no issues. I love the new technologies in the Acura. Even though I am biased to Hondas . but I feel the gas consumption is the worse thing, that will make me don't want to buy. they need a hybrid or sport hybrid to get more power but good gas consumption , 30-35mpg Hwy . second thing need a touch screen to assist with the touch pad. third they need a stick shifter, car feels more solid and sporty. Honda needs to work on that, they need to know their sales are down because of the competition : Tesla Model X and Model Y. amazing MPGe. I think a lot of Honda or Acura buyers have moved to Tesla.
*help!* anybody. I test drove (2) S-TYPES about an hour ago. Loved them. However I felt there was some wind noise from the left side - maybe drivers or back seat. I drove 2 ....and both had the wind noise. Is this just normal for MDX? Also in fairness, today is a very windy day I see large trees swaying right now..... appreciate anyone giving an opinion
Currently thinking about trading in my 21 Sonic gray accord Touring for this. I need to go test drive this mdx. I’m not feeling the price tag though that’s kinda high for 355 horses.
Agree. Piano black is a dust and fingerprint magnet, lack of a touchpad is bad, but Acura has had issues with the ten speed automatic. More gears means the tranny is constantly hunting and it can be caught off guard. Kudos for having a good chassis and the v6 motor but the interior styling, choice of materials and infotainment is lacking.
@@naveenthemachine I’ve driven both the MDX tech pkg and the RX 350 Luxury. I’m a Honda guy, always have been, but the RX feels more upscale. Also has better storage in center console and seems less cluttered in the center console and infotainment areas. I really didn’t like the 4 banger, tho. If Lexus had kept their V6, they would be heads and shoulders above the MDX.
Honestly, I really like this car. Imo it just need to be slightly bigger like the size of the Pilot and it really needs to ditch that touch pad. A touch screen is needed and I am surprised any manufacturer still would include a touch pad.

Also the RX will keep up in speed with this and get 27+ MPG real world while this will get 15 real world. 5.5s vs 5.7s 0-60 is basically the same thing but with the RX the passing speed is much nice with instant torque.
is there anyway to find out if there are any changes or additions to the 2024 year for the type s advanced ? even a small change would be nice to find out
I am just here for the exhaust sound, and its pretty boring. But a great SUV, perfect combination of luxury and reliability, they really didn't need a type S, but if you want to spend 25k more, jump right in.

A bit more? A Porsche Macan or Cayenne is well ove $90k+ once you start adding in the options you want. Especially if you want the turbo package and the panoramic sun roof, the tinted noise cancelling windows, the metallic paint colors, and the upgraded 21 inch wheels, upgraded leather interior

I'd take this over the X5-40i or GLE 350. You simply get more car, more feature, lower operating costs and of course better reliability.

Wrap installers could do a nice job on the piano black with, lets say, carbon fiber?

Acura hasn't released the changes yet but we wouldn't anticipate anything major for next year

The Type S is approximately as fast as the base engine in the BMW X5 which is why 3 was still selected. It's not an exact science though
