As a former child (technically still one but almost adult ig), in all honesty, it's just the phones. That's why we usually don't go outside anymore. We play video games instead now. Back then I didn't know what the fuck was going on and neither did any of my peers back then. We weren't scared of anything at all and didn't get in touch with any of this, so no, that's not the reason young people stay inside nowadays.
