It has a pretty light footprint, it doesn't matter how deep the snow gets it will go through it. As for going up hills the tracks extend so it won't tip over backwards unless you're at a complete reverse incline. I have a 6 ft snow plow with they call them drift cutters, but they're actually straight wings, and it can't be stopped pushing snow. If it only floated like a sherp
