Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Sonata No.21 in C Major, "Waldstein" 00:00 | Allegro con brio 10:13 | Introduzione. Adagio molto 14:50 | Rondo. Allegretto moderato Martha Argerich, piano February 4th, 1970 Tokyo
Multumim Max Lima pentru postare! Este superb,ca orice lucrare muzicala interpretata de Martha Argerich! Nuantarea desavarsita si tehnica muzicala sunt impecabile!! Silvia Baciu
Now available on CD: Martha Argerich Live, Vol. 10 Also streaming on Qobuz complete with some tape hiss/artefacts and a few coughs to prove it's live cred. (I also noted that one high register note seems to ping rather than ring on right of soundstage;-) But Martha blows through it all with this passionate recital. Sounds like it was originally a radio broadcast. Glad this rare gem has been preserved for home appreciation! 🎵🎶🤫🎶🎵
MAX thank you for uploading this treasure! I'm just too happy to hear Martha's Waldstein! I send you my heartfelt thanks! And I'm kind of proud as a Japanese that this is a live performance in Tokyo...💕💕
Thank you!! This is great !! Also I love Martha but I prefer more intimate sound for this piece like Brendel. But appasionata it would be great if Martha recorded. Sadly she never did it

@@junseo3657 and @maxlima she has played the 5th (so can be heard in a YT short with JM Pires) but she never played the 4th because Arrau did it better (she says this several times in interviews)

Delighted to have this available, as the post that's been up was missing the last two chords!

It’s like I’ve never heard the piece till now. I might need to get more into it
Enjoy, Pablo!
Its sad that this extraordinary performance of one of my favorite Beethoven pieces is not on Spotify.

@@marisasw you're more than welcome!
The tempo in the Allegro con brio is a bit too fast IMHO. I wonder what tempo would she choose today.
3rd mov. starts at 14:50
Thanks for the correction!
Does she play the octave as a glissando or split hands?
I am not sure, but I believe she doesn't split hands here (she does it on Beethoven Piano Concerto No 1, though)
Martha’s scales are so fast they can sound like glissandi… i honestlY can’t tell what she’s doinG here.
Have Martha ever played this sonata again after this recording?
I once heard that she played Beethoven not often, even she was afraid to play it
Martha plays Beethoven very often (especially his piano concerti no. 1 and 2)
Thank you for replying :)
I fell in her enthusiastic works currently!
Did she played Beethoven concerto 4th or 5th? I found others, but they were not
