- Haydn : Piano Concerto in D Hob XVIII:11 (with original cadenza)
Live recording. Milan 1980. With London Sinfonietta; Nona Lidell, concert master.
RAI
Martha playes more in the European style than anyone else of this nowadays acrobats like Lang Lang or Yuya Wang who only demonstrate their agility on the keys instead of just making music.....
Martha is really divine. Everything she plays has emotions in it - there are hundreds of amazing pianists with amazing skills but they do sound like robots - I guess transmitting emotions while playing is really a gift.
Probably the best piano concerto of the excellent Haydn with the best possible performace with the unique Martha.
She's humane of divine make
And she takes the cake
over any catwalk fake.
You are so right. Yesterday, I went to a concert live and my brain was automatically hearing Martha’s version of it and everything was obviously inferior to her version 😂 Martha puts a standard in my head difficult to equal. I don’t know where the trick is but she can all the time.
Einfach toll - die junge Martha!!!!
Pletnev I like more
It’s crazy that she learned this concerto under 24 hours as a teenager, isn’t it? This is my new favorite channel btw, can’t wait to see what else you’re going to share.
She was 40 in this performance.
Haydn concertos are not too difficult to memorize, so I wouldn't be surprised if she learned it in less than a day 😁 she learned Tchaik quite quick as well, and Ravel Gaspard too
@Obtuse Recluse Simply a point of fact. She is amazing. She was brilliant as a young pianist and now, at 80, even more brilliant.
it seems so normal for martha, she is the genius of the genius
@@dedejohnson4950 If Argerich is the 'genius of of the genius,' then what does that make Liszt? He's considered a top candidate for greatest pianist ever, plus he was a prolific composer. I love Argerich, but she's at least two-or-three rungs lower on the musical/piano genius scale.
Thank you so much for publishing this!
This composition is a priceless testimony to a mentally still sane & sound era of humanity. God-fearing Haydn at his best. Thanks for the upload of this superlative performance.
Es una Diosa!!
The movement titles on the video are not quite right; the three movements are
Vivace
Un poco Adagio
Rondo all'Ungarese. Allegro assai
Just delightful. I love her recording of this Concerto. It's full of vigor and personality. So also in this performance. Martha Argerich makes Haydn sing, even with a slightly sourish Piano.
Thank you for uploading such a valuable video!!! ☺️
Wonderful but her Hydon sounds more like Bach or sometimes Beethoven thanks to her strong and clear touch.
Ta Pani jest niezwyczajna. Mimo że to barok.
I hope Martha takes some time out now, between her still busy schedule, to write her memoirs. But she is still going strong!! Lucky for us. But, please, Martha won't you take a much deserved birthday rest??
She hasn't been super busy during the pandemic....
Mr Bean at 1:59 ?
Grandiose....making a D sound like the best Forte piano that exists...
Lovely. The piano sounds killer. Good blend with orchestra. Thanks.
Amazing! Thank you so much for making this public!! ❤️
Great find, I didn't know Martha plays this concerto! I think of this concerto as more for advanced students but in Martha's hands it is so fresh and vital and more technically challenging than I remember (maybe because she plays it fast :o) And the slow movement very touching, she can bring so much to simple melodic line without affectation. Agree the piano has a funny brittle sound but Martha's musicality still shines through. Also sweet how after playing so masterfully she seems so humble at end. Thanks for sharing
Martha is a Nature's force. She shines in everything she plays
Super excited with these daily uploads :0
Same
iMPRESIONANTE MARTHA!!!! POR DIOS, GRACIAS!!!!
Te quiero Marthita !!!!
Superior double!Bravo,Martha!V.B.

BRAVO MARTHA!!!!!
Nice to see this recording from long ago of the Concerto I just learnt and currently play. Thanks for sharing it.
Gracias por subir esta maravilla, grande Martha!!!
Hermosa morocha argenta
🎩. Chapeau pour vous M. Martha !
8:23 those fingers don't seem to move in human ways
Splendido! Grande grande esecuzione
Tyle. Piękna na tym świecie. I
There are many different versions of Martha playing this concerto and in my opinion this one is definitely the best even if the piano isn't very tuned hahaha.
Thank you so much for sharing this video 😉
Bravo!
Amazing. People will complain about fast tempo but it suits this piece, pure dance and fire.
I see no reason to complain. This is how this music goes.
@@LionelTacchini I also like the tempo!
No comparar. 🇮🇷💞🙏
increible!!!inspirador!!!..muchas gracias!
A New fresh approach to this timeless masterpiece by Haydn. Thank You
Desde siempre. 👋👋👋👋👋👋
Thanks so much for posting !
She was a beautiful and genial woman aged 41.
Actually, she was 38-39 in 1980.
Ok ok ok ok ok
So beautiful ❤
Beautiful...
thank you for the upload! :)
Haydn is easy. This is like a walk in the park for Martha.
???
Haydn is not easy if you really understand the inner structure of his compositions, the inner voices and his modulations. Hardly a walk in the park for anyone, less so for a complex musician such as Martha Argerich who does not take any work she plays lightly. Listen to her carefully. You may even learn a thing or two from his music and Martha's interpretation. If I may, I would also recommend your listening to Haydn's Sacred works, some of the greatest in musical literature.
@@mariaelenahartung everything's complicated if you over-analyze as classical music people tend to do. Just sit back and enjoy.
Cadenza starts from here 8:16
What a musical marvel. Thank you, Paul.
3:17 piano part begins
All this, justified i might add, genius talk here. Why does no-one give glory & talk about THE ONE Who GAVE this genius? Do U think what we just heard could have "evolved" from some Urknall proteinoids from nothing? 😅
Ladies & Gents, i give you The Almighty Maker & founder of this and much better feasts still. And thanks to all who were "instrumental " in this delight.
🙏❤️🇮🇷 20-22. 🌹.
1:58 start
Martha Argerich era una genia!!..hermosa clásica!!
¿Cómo que "era"? Afortunadamente sigue siéndolo.
🇮🇷💞🙏.
She also played Beethoven concerto 2 do you have that recording?
Wonderful to see this ! We all know she recorded this a long time ago but I never knew there was a film of her playing this . I wonder did she run around an entire season playing this . I don't think this is a good piano but it's brittle tone is good for Hadyn and lord why a concert grand . It's huge Hadyn doesn't need that as ridiculous as Landowska's huge very unbaroque harpsichord . Pletnev has recorded all of these but why does only one get our attention . I'm not partial to any of the others probably just need to listen more . Who did Hadyn write these for ?
😍😍😍😍😍
Suprema esecuzione! Lionello Grifo, poeta
Why does the piano sound like a harpsichord?
maybe because of the way the mics were placed
love this channel
It's too digital and shallow compared to the greatest, Mikhail Pletnev
