Artist Profile: Zhou Tao

Artist Zhou Tao explores an abandoned construction site in Guangzhou, China, and discusses finding inspiration for his work in the "semi-ecosystem" that has arisen there. He also visits the location of a 2015 landslide in the Chinese city of Shenzhen that was caused by industrial activity-one of the sites that inspired his video installation "Land of the Throat" (2016).
"Land of the Throat" was commissioned for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s permanent collection as part of The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative. The second exhibition of the initiative, "Tales of Our Time," was on view at the museum November 4, 2016-March 10, 2017.
