Wow! Now that is every brass players' dream to be able to make their instrument sing like that!!

Carol makes the trombone sing as only a select few can (Watrous, Rossolino, Dorsey). From a fellow bone player 48 years and counting. Glad I found this clip, will share with a fellow trumpet player who has a daughter who wants to play the trombone.

dudley dooright glad you like the clip. It's a Rath R1 medium bore, with a standard 6.5 AL mouthpiece. I think my finger high up on the mouthpiece makes it look as tho I have more upper lip in the mouthpiece, but it's pretty central. And I hope I haven't been hiding?! Lol! Carol jarvis dot com shows what I've been up to....! Thanks so much for listening :)

Carol is the Master of ballad trombone playing period. Anyone that doesn't see this should bash their heads against the nearest wall to WAKE SOME SENSE INTO THEMSELEVES!!
No other Trombone player in human history could improve on Carol's performance of this including the God of Ballad Trombone playing - yes Don Lusher!. I think Don, may have been looking down at Carol when she played this!
Fantastic performance Carol, I had better put the 2 handkerchiefs I soaked while listening to your performance in the wash now !

I saved this to my folder that has Bill Watrous, Tommy Dorsey, Urbie Green and Bill Pierce. Carol is in select company but that tone deserves it. I care far more for the sound of an artist singing through their instrument as she does than just playing a lot of high stuff in 64th notes (doodle tonguing, etc.). This was brilliant and worth enjoying again.

I know this has been up forever but just had to comment. Most incredible tone i've ever heard from a trombone. I've been working on my range so much. With working from home all the time in the corona life i use all my breaks to practice. I think after listening to this i'm going to put a lot more into my tone. I listen to a lot of trombone players to try and learn from them and this was a real eye (ear?) opener. Genuinely never heard anything like it. Wonderful.

This song is really closely related to Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #2 in C minor when the french horn has the melody after the piano. I feel like this song has been inspired somewhat by Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto but only the french horns melody compared to the trombone in this video. On a side note, fantastic job, you play with an absolute gorgeous tone and the overall playing style is but spot on amazing!

Gosh after hearing Carol play this I was shocked. I never even knew a trombone could sound that good. Im the lead trombone player in my school and I've been playing for quite some time now. Gosh I wish sheet music was out for public use, so that every one could enjoy and spread her talent and impact on others. But thank you for the video
