- New Trombone Collective and friends, Jiggs Whigham, Bart van Lier, Nils Wogram, Mark Nightingale. World premiere 2010 OffCorso Rotterdam, Special concert: 21 trombones in the 21st century-DVD/CD recording available in www.ntcshop.nl
thats the most perfect sync ive heard with trombones so far in my lifetime
trombone=best instrument
NOW IN 2021 SHOW THIS TO EVERY TROMBONE PLAYER AND STUDENT IN THE U. S. , THIS SHOULD ENCOURAGE ALL TROMBONISTS TO PICK UP THEIR HORNS AND PLAY AGAIN.
The bass trombonisr who is attempting to shatter his bell is my favorite. Keep it on blasting bro!
The guy at the end is playing a contrabass trombone, I believe.
Every one of them is spectacular, but HOLY SHIT Bart's tone is so mellow it hurts.
exactly. and his range is bananas!!!
Bart Van Lier is absolutely fantastic!
The second trombone soloist sounds great, Kicked ass!!
It's sad more people would like to see nicki minaj. Culture is in the shitter, revive real music.
@@blandeauxfillaskii7344 I agree
@@blandeauxfillaskii7344 Amen!
Monster Bass trombone playing!
The interplay and logic of the solos and the overall tightness of this group tells a complete "story" from beginning to end !
Trombone heaven!
Refreshing! WHAT a great feast of bones!!!
Mark Nightingale is a BEAST!! Don't get me wrong, Jiggs and company are great too, but Mark has some really great ideas! I met Jiggs at the 1981 ITA Workshop in Nashville. What a phenomenal educator and player!
phenomenal sound from all four!!!
Amazing Playing! Incredible Soloists! Nice to see so many of my durch friends on stage.
...and Nils nails them! :-D
After listening to this I almost went out an sold my very old Selmer trombone, been my good friend since 1951, but no I'll keep sliding, brilliant stuff, great sound, powerful unison playing, thankyou UA-cam.
sick man
Great music should inspire you.
Unless you want to pass that old horn on to someone who will take the music forward.
They don't wank like many other jazz musicians of our times but make music. Great!
Please...This Nils... Can I be like him?
LOVE Mark's solo....
Terrific unison playing, surely a contender to the famous TUTTI's Trombones.
Almost un-beeeeeeeeeeeeeee-lievable!!!!!!! Wish I could have been there. Reminds me of the Tutti's Trombones album from the 1960's with Frank Rosolino and company. I feel sorry for the guy with the mop after the show.
(solo order: Mark Nightingale, Nils Wogram, Bart van Lier, Jiggs Whigham)
Thank you.
Gracias amigo
Esse grupo de trombones são de onde?
That solo of Mark's though, it's just so soulful, make me cry.
What a great sound!
Magníficos trombonistas! Maravilha, congratulation!
Nils Wogram, real monster player...
Just found this and I second that. You could see Mark Nightingale enjoying the solo and I think Frank Rosolino would have been proud of that as well.
@@loujug1 Yes but Bart was smoother and exhibited greater range. They all are awesome
@@garyhammond5267 No critisism of the others intended. I admire them all. Personally i prefer Bart on slower tracks Tommy Dorsey style, but I still don't get how anyone can play that instrument the way these guys do, and I've been listening since I discovered Jack Teagarden and Sy Zentner in 1950.
@@garyhammond5267 This is my favourite Bart track. ua-cam.com/video/J078ML6E2Yw/v-deo.html
Dang, the soloist second from the left was going off. Great stuff.
Bart van Lier
Love how smooth Bart played
I love playing trombone because it's such a visual instrument. All those slides moving. Cool.
It is - even in orchestral excerpts, they love to show the slush pumps!
MUITO BOA ORQUESTRA. TROMBONISTAS EXCELENTES. PARABÉNS..
Oh my god, Bart really laying it down!!
Great arrangement to feature this wonderful instrument! I would've loved to have been there!

Great stuff, reminiscent of Stan Kenton's Big Band sound of 1950's.
Good job guys! Super cool stuff there!

Extraordinary horn section !
Que talento Nels e Mark, e todos os envolvidos. Urbie Green sempre será lembrado !!
Yeah Jiggs!
I want say WOW!
In memory of Frank Rosolino: Lier and Whigham do him tribute with every note. Beautiful playing. Nightingale is just as amazing but not in the first tune. Wogram is also up there with the other three, but not what I personally get a charge from hearing.
Be still my heart!!!!!!!!!!
Genial
espetacular

I like being surrounded by dozens of tbones. Nice job, guys!
Dvd en cd inmiddels binnen. Helemaal top
crazy, crazy...
Message to videographers: Shots framed like the one at 3:32 or 3:48 are the ones you should have more of, because it shows what the trombonist is doing with his slide and you can see his embouchure. Shots of the background choir resting or pulling their horns up and shots that are so close up that you can barely see the player's whole face are of much less interest.
His wife must enjoy his kissing !
I know what you're saying, but it's not a teaching video it's purely for entertainment.
doctorgrowl
How do you see an embouchure?
@@philiphorn-botha5502 My ex-wife swore she could tell when I'd been practicing.
There's a great video of Carol Jarvis playing "I think of you" with some great shots of her embouchure and slide work.
I like Bart von Lier most
I agree, he just seemed smoother and a great sound
QUE LINDOOO!!!!
PARABENS!!!
A MUSICA É IGUAL A LINGUAGEM DAS BALEIAS ATRAVESA DE OCEANOS A OCEANOS, MUNDO SEM FRONTEIRAS!!!

Muito bom!! Toco no Brasil e estou maravilhado com esses músicos!! Wonderful!!!
TKS
Love the melodic phrase at 3:36
Muito bom, é pena que eles não conheceram Maciel maluco.
Yum
Could anyone tell me who wrote this SUPERB ARRANGEMENT!!
오우...
Absolutely amazing. Loved each solo -great playing but not overdone and what ensemble work. Interestingly recorded in Rotterdam. I'd like to know if there are any American players in there or all European. I also love WDR Big Band (Germany) and Orchestra Metreoplol (Netherlands) -also big band playing at its best and not too much high screaming trumpets like the Yanks (which drives me nuts)
overwhelming
1:16 is that Bernie Sanders?
it makes sense if that is him... those trombones giving everything they got... and he's just taking it all in.
josh smith this is the greatest comment I’ve ever seen
does anyone know where I can get this to put in my phone?
Thanks , lok at 5 .15 Bart has Mark nightingale hypnotized . Jeje
song?
You can dance in this lift. There is room. Is the lift going up or down? Who cares. Let's dance.
Fantastiske solister, og gruppe. Kan vi ikke starte noe sånn i Norge ? Jeg melder meg som basstrombonist fra gamle Sandvika storband. Jan f Holmseth
3:35 I didn't noticed that there is Martin Schippers hehe
Chops and taste GALORE!
いいねー ご機嫌だぜ 最高 日本に来てよ!! bravo

Does it get better than this !
