      I bought most of my tools from harbor freight, its really not that expensive. In terms of the shop, it's not necessary unless you plan on working on opening your own business. If I was only working on my own cars I would not waste so much money on paying rent.

    Could you do a video on how to keep all these screw, nuts and bolts organized so you know what goes where? I'd like to do something like this but I'm so hesitant because I'm afraid later on I won't know what goes where and I know some panels have different sized bolts such as the oil filter housing. Thanks a lot for these videos man, I'm learning SOOO much!

      Plastic baggies, strip of masking tape on each bag identifying location, quantity, and size/torque rating.

    • @EE-Z
      @EE-Z 8 років тому +3

      I use a bunch of little tubs with lids. I use a sharpie to label the tubs and put the lids on so the wind doesn't blow all the nuts/bolts all over the place (I've nearly lost things because of it). I can then stack the tubs in order that I took the bolts off.
      If a part has different size bolts I usually write it down before I start the job. I also write down the instructions (inc. torque specs) to the whole job before starting because I have a rubbish memory.

      +Rene G. Solis Just like Dicer328 & E-Z I use zip locks with masking tape for larger parts & the plastic containers that have separated bins for all the nuts, bolts & screws. I bought several of the plastic containers at Walmart for $3 or $4.

      Go to your local cheap-o Dollar Store: get a pack of sandwich bags. Put the hardware inside the bag and mark it with a sharpie marker. It doesn't get any easier than that. Also, pick up a bunch of brushes if you plan on degreasing your engine.

    Can an engine from an 03-06 330xi fit in a 2002 330xi?? The engines look the same but I think they changed. I bought a 2002 330xi with 52k miles from copart with a engine with pulled head threads. I'm guessing overheating too.

    Did u ever end up doing the rebuild series for this engine or did u just replace it ?

  • @Jay146992
    @Jay146992 3 роки тому

    Question. So I recently replaced the timing chain guides on my m54 since mine were broken. Somehow the chain got bumped a tooth on the crank sprocket and I didn’t realize this until I reassembled the engine and started it. Now at TDC, the cams are not in the right place which confirmed my theory. Am I able to pull the timing chain tensioner out of the block and spin the cam gear to realign the cams from the top or won’t that work? I know the crank sprocket is smaller than the cam sprocket but don’t know if they’re equally different so I would be able to move the chain 2 teeth on the cam sprocket?? I guess what I’m asking is if there’s any other way realign the cams without pulling the front cover and moving the chain down one tooth on the crank sprocket? I’m really trying to avoid that as the engine is back in the car and fully assembled minus the valve cover.

    At the end when you were removing the rear o2 sensor bracket, do you know what the black plastic thing that sits on the top does? It fell off when I was doing the VANOS seal job. I'm pretty sure I got it back on properly despite it being really easy to knock loose, it has a little peg on top so I thought I was supposed to click something onto it. My engine is the 2.2 so it doesn't have the secondary air pump vacuum lines the 325 and 330 has.

    • @CmdrStukov

      I have a 325i and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the secondary air pump vacuum lines either www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=AN36-EUR-12-2000-E46-BMW-325i&diagId=11_2203

      @EE-Z 8 років тому +1

      Strange, I know I've seen the 2.5l with them. A quick google shows that some don't have them and some do. One says that updated VANOS software meant they were no longer needed, which looks to have happened on the facelift model, yet someone says they've seen it on a 2004 build.
