@@natalieb.9319 well, I love racing, I love anime. so for me theres that, and most of the racing miku figures are Max Factory, which is one of the best companies in the hobby right now.
Hi, 'm not a veteran, but some thoughts 1/ I personally wouldn't aim to start small, I say go with your heart. I just go for figures that are "wow / hnnng, I gotta have this". If they fall into the small category then ok, otherwise why dilute your collection? 2/ thousands of figures on MFC is an understatement. If I read it correctly then just this month alone there were or are to be released 619 figures, oh 3/ shady seller may not use actual photos of the sold product, so that advice is probably not useful 4/ there may be numerous versions of bootlegs, so the photos on MFC can tell you if your product is a bootleg if it is, but can't tell you it's not. Some bootlegs may be very close to the original to the point some may wonder if it matters in the end. For me it still does, I'd dislike the thought of having a bootleg and want to support the original manufacturer. But some don't mind them, yea 5/ the price again can tell you if it's a bootleg but not that it isn't - I mean if someone makes a bootleg and set full or almost full price, then they can make much higher profit. Most will probably choose the strategy "sell many at lower price", but still 6/ is the "ships from" information always true? I am _somewhat_ inclined to trust sites that people claim are trustworthy (so far bought most of the stuff from Plamoya), but I don't know if you can ever be sure (can they perhaps mistakenly sell a bootleg? I mean yea, it does sound very unlikely), also since I had some quality issues with the figures I bought, but it likely can happen with official ones too Actually took my chances of initially buying on Amazon twice, both full price from Japan with top rating - and by all indicators they should ... should be legit. But I wouldn't take those chances again 7/ thank you for feedback on websites. When you're making a more sensitive purchase (expensive and/or long wait) one'd want to go for someone with a spotless record, but there's some criticism even among those partenered sites (e.g. on reddit). Not all criticism may necessarily be legit of course, so I'd really just want to trust those websites more, none actually really let me down personally...
You don’t have to start out buying cheaper prize figures but they’re a good way to introduce you to collecting and to make sure you like it before spending $100+ on something you’re unsure about.
im a new-ish figure collector (a little over a year). im 15, 16 in a month and i dont know what is it about this man but i feel very safe with him. ily animeplz, you are now my figure dad
You forgot to mention Hobby Search (similar to AmiAmi) , Amazon Japan (they ship figures globally (non 18+ figures only) if its fulfilled by Amazon.co.jp and you can also find some on the USA Amazon.com as well) , Mandarake (they sell pre-owned and sealed figures), and Jungle Online Shop (similar to Mandarake). Some of the shops that you mentioned in this video are good but their on the expensive side (Rightstufanime, Plamoya, and HLJ).

I actually already keep every single piece of packaging material possible. So at least that habit is already established lol. I have really enjoyed finding your channel. Looking forward to using your advice to grow my collection! Keep up the good work.
Always have loved Anime. About a month ago my brain questioned figures. My adventure begins on March 1st 👌 noticed Crunchyroll is pricy. (Probably where I saw figures) but found Solarisjapan or w/e will be buying from them for sure! Searched otaku and found your videos. Not sure if I want ecchi or normal otaku box. Maybe both IDK. Thanks bro👌
Watching this with 90k subs, makes me smile :) Congrats, and maybe you could make an updated version with brands comparison etc? (new to the channel, maybe it exists already)
Just a little clarity, but Ninoma, Plamoya and a couple others in particular you noted are more resellers than anything. So if you’re looking to buy a particular figure that’s been out already, it’s better to check the bigger stores like AmiAmi and Hobbysearch first to see if you can buy the figure at release price. Otherwise the noted stores will always try selling the same figure at a more extravagant price. Also one thing I’m wondering about as a seasoned collector: In addition to saving the box and clam shell, do you also save all the loose plastic sheets that come inside (usually to prevent paint transfer)? Because I’ve thrown all of those out because I can’t be bothered to keep track of those things and remembering exactly where they go lol
OMG I just found you today, and I bought that exact same figure (my first one) you are taking as an example in the video xD I Enjoy your vids alot, love Taiga ^^

I did the research after finding Rem's figure in Subaru's training suit and it was for around 25 dollars (it cost's 28 on Crunchyroll but shipping to my country costs 40 dollars so no thank you) and I was really excited to buy it but I saw some paint splashes on her shirt and then noticed her hair looked a little bit different and then I noticed she had her fingernails and toenails painted pink wich she doesn't have in original version so yeah it can be tricky to find difference between fake and real figure guys remember to always double check!

Very good advice but I will say that I had a very bad experience with Solaris. They were fine when there were no issues but when I received a decapitated statue from them, they were very hard to deal with.
Yes! I was literally going to ask you to do a video on this, you're amazing for doing it without needing to be asked, thanks a bunch! I have a question actually about purchasing figs; What about conventions? I have a feeling some of the convention sellers are selling bootlegs.. Lots of tables have varying prices on the same figs. Should I just avoid getting figures at conventions or is there something I can do to be sure I'm not being scammed?
Before watching this: If the #1 answer isn't mandarake, I'm gonna be surprised. My first two purchases were the resin Light and Ryuk, people didn't want them at all when they were out (although Light was harder to find TBH). Then they blew up in price apparently. They are very lovely, and I'm still amazed they arrived in a single piece.
How did you fix your supersonic figure when it arrived broken? I ordered a figure from Japan and it arrived with a small piece broken off. I think I can fix it but I want to know the best way from someone who has done it before. Thanks in advance. Keep up the great videos!

My first figure was Hatsune Miku Love is War Non-DX Ver one of the hardest figures I have put together. (I felt like I went in running full speed with that one). I got her from Samurai Buyer. I am now waiting for the the Hatsune Miku Wedding Dress Ver. ^ ^ I kind of want that one to be the last figure I get unless the announce a Hatsune Miku Breath with You figure.
I used ami ami & mandarake for wider selection and rare hard to find figs... saving the box preserves the value of the figure when the necessity requires for financial disposal...its an expensive hobby but nevertheless it can be viewed as personal investment when some needs arise. And anime figure has more monetary value as opposed to collecting gunpla.
Luckily I generally know if I'm gonna like something before I actually do it. So I was perfectly fine spending a couple hundred dollars on each of my Fate figures that I get every now and then.

I am now waiting for the the Hatsune Miku Wedding Dress Ver. ^ ^ I kind of want that one to be the last figure I get unless the announce a Hatsune Miku Breath with You figure.
I starting to get into it
I see Monster Girl Encyclopedia, I click like!
AmiAmi all day long. I also use Nippon-Yasan as a secondary source.
Mans got precious blue eyes.
If your ganna buy from amazon or a big website USE HONEY it scans for coupons and you can see if it has had a drop in price or a jump in it
I used ami ami & mandarake for wider selection and rare hard to find figs... saving the box preserves the value of the figure when the necessity requires for financial disposal...its an expensive hobby but nevertheless it can be viewed as personal investment when some needs arise. And anime figure has more monetary value as opposed to collecting gunpla.
Are they're different material types for these figures? Pvc...what else? Are they soft, hard types?
Luckily I generally know if I'm gonna like something before I actually do it. So I was perfectly fine spending a couple hundred dollars on each of my Fate figures that I get every now and then.
So far the only online stores I’ve purchased my anime figures from are crunchyroll’s store, galactictoys, and amazon (only if shipped and sold)
Do you know if amazon is legit ?
@@jacksgainz_6913 Amazon is legit. I mostly purchase figures when it’s sold & shipped by Amazon. And yes, I’ve also bought from third party companies on Amazon.
What I look for from third party companies
1. Ratings over 10,000 (lowest 5,000)
2. 97-100% positive
3. 0-2% negative
4. Business address from Japan
My favorite Figur, Taiga,Hatsune Miku, Black Rock Shooter, No Game no live ❤️
