    Every person deserves a fair trial. That being said, after he is found guilty he should be sent to prison for life with no parole option, or given 99 years and a day.

    As someone who resides in the UK,I probably should not be making comment on how another countries courts are run but since the programme is shown here, I will risk it.
    I am constantly amazed by the times that lawyers, particularly for the prosecution, seem to be ill prepared to present their case. It is as if they are handed the papers five minutes before entering court and don’t have a grip on it at all.
    The Judge is given a bundle of paperwork, with nothing apparently in any order, causing him to sift through it all to make sense of what has happened in the case, before it ends up with him.
    In a UK court, the prosecutor would be told to go away and return when he was able to present the paperwork in a manner that showed the sequence of events, prior to that days court, in chronological order.
    As for the defendant getting bail, whatever it is set at, for offences as grave as these,
    bail would not be entertained. The defendant would be remanded in custody to await his trial. And the defence lawyer wouldn’t even attempt to apply for it.

    • @jaggirl
      @jaggirl Місяць тому +3

      The same in Australia.
      The idea of any bond would not be entertained at this point at all.
      The judge would not be happy and would most certainly tell them to get their acts together before they front their courtroom again.

      It is embarrassing how ill prepared attorneys and judges are for these cases prior to trial. I believe everything in the US is geared to trial and by that time things are more organized. I think the presentation in UK courts with robes and wigs on barristers helps emphasize the dignity and duty of justice. I don’t think people should be allowed in court in anything less than suits and lawyers should be much more formal. Then again, I am half British.
