Good presentation John. Looks like you are using my Tuning Guides, so glad they are useful to you.
Is this Phil?
It is Phil, yes.
Thank you so much for putting out guides to help everyone. We should talk sometime.
Super cool info! Phil is very generous!! This is worth GOLD. I downloaded the table of values. Thanks Sail Wars for help professionalize the community.
Glad we can help!
Mate 99% of what you say about setting your boat and just sail the dam thing is spot on best video i have seen on youtube in a long time. happy sailing. Thank you.
John will lead you to victory!
Great tips regarding radio curves & expo etc. thanks mate from Australia
I'm sure John appreciates the great feedback!
Very useful
Glad you think so!
❤️ this video ❤️ the approach ❤️ the respect ❤️ the attitude. His approach can be applied to life not just r.c's.
We totally agree! ❤️
Awesome one of , if not , the best DF65 videos 👏
Wow, thanks!
Excellent, clearly a good engineer too. The "change one thing only" at a time is key to process improvement.
Yes. Great point!
Hey John
At around 20 mins you said! Who ever made that tuning guide.
He name is PHIL BURGESS from DOWNUNDER😎
And I top bloke to the boot. 👍🏻
Fair Dinkum bloke and would give you he’s shirt of he’s back.
Awesome
John mentioned his name when he first uses his chart. We have thanked him for the chart. It's really good.
Thank you for this I’ll be using this information setting up my DF 95.
This video is for the 65. Stay tuned for a 95 video.
Merci pour tous ces précieux conseils 😉de 🇫🇷
Your welcome!
Good video for your mindset
Thank you
Great video!
Thank you!
Thanks for the great video, one thing I didn't see mentioned was if you used the gate positions also as to the tuning guide thanks again best regards johnw
I guess he didn't cover that?
John, where is the mast step placed? All the way back? Thanks, very helpful tuning video.
John says all the way forward as it helps prevent the boat from rounding up.
Thanks, you’re right on ..
Thanks for watching!
Great job guys. Do one for the soling1 meter.
We are working on that, plus a Vic video. Stay tuned!
The 951 on the Backstay hook measurement is actually now to the deck, not to the top of the hook. Known in Australia by most competing sailors.
We will test it. Thank you 😊
Thanks for the Video! Where can someone learn about the hobbie, wehere do you purchase these boats and where do I find the "rules" of compition. Many Thanks!!
Sail Wars has a video called Rules of Racing. You can search those two phrases together to find it or go to our UA-cam home page. To find out more you can also go to our home page as we have made over 200 videos. Dragon Sailing sells the DF65 in the United States. We are glad you like our videos!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you for the very informative video.
I'd like to know what the guides are called over the gimbals and where I can find a set.
Thanks again
John?
Baseline settings get you fast. Finding thumbs off balance is more delicate and must be done on the water. I measure forestay first for setting rake then adjust backstay for twist and headstay sag. I prefer a touch of weather helm and adjust jib boom angle along with backstay trim to achieve. Very well done video. Thanks
Great advice! Thank you
The only thing never talked about is, you use the mast to put the boat in / out of the water. Windy There has to be some lose of those measurements. I don't think I will be removing the rigging in the future and might just glue the mast into place. Larger boats have Shrouds for strength and stability. I love the 74 boat in the back.
He does have some beautiful boats!
Thaanks, where can I get a copy of the DF65 "tuning guide" that is refered to in this video?
A quick search on google.
Does anyone know what brand of sails he has I’m looking for new sails for my df65
Those are his own design.
is your mast all the way back?
In the middle.
Oops that would be for the DF95 cheers johnw
That's ok my friend.
Will you do a video for “A” rig settings?
It's done the same way. Just look at the measurements for the A rig.
Does anyone know of a source of this dyneema cloth in the uk??
You may have to buy it from the United States.
What model of Flysky radio does Phil show in the video? Which one do you recommend for the DF 65?
FS-I6 works great. Receiver- FS-iA6B.
Have fun!
@@sailwars awesome!! as always, my spiritual guide on this path of RC sailboats!
By the way. The Team Sail Wars racer in the video is John. We are happy you like our videos. Have you watched all of them? There are close to 400 now.
@@sailwars I haven't seen them all but little by little I will see them. I have a lot of material to continue learning!
At 21:24, any idea where you can get those gimbal/stick slot inserts? Thanks!
They look to be 3D printed.
I am interested in those too..any way to get them?
What is the sail material that he uses on his 65? Thx
He uses a couple of different materials. Hopefully, he sees this and can give specifics.
Nice space force shirt! Is john USSF?
Former Air Force.
How are your end points set?
I think that every boat it different. Just mess around with yours until you find the best positions.
Is that a custom receiver, if so what brand allow for custom sensitivity curves?
Just a Flyski Radio and Receiver.
@@sailwars thanks
You're welcome.
John. Where did you buy your dyneema sails mate ?.
He made them himself.
@@sailwars : Ok I think I'll have a go at making some. Thanks for the reply.
Can you use this for the df95
No. Sorry
Maybe John will do another video?
