This is because the server's trash community simply doesn't care - stupid kawaii players will anyways continue to consume tons of shitpixel's content, and therefore giving their money to its owner. There's simply no need in that!

mojang literally cant do anything about it, Hypixel is a privately owned server, and their domain on Cloudflare is literally the Hypixel Companies property and mojang has no control over it. Ever wonder why all minecraft server webpages say "[server] is not affiliated with Mojang or Minecraft" or something along those lines, its because they arent, Mojang cannot take any official action unless they had the Cyber Attackers username, and even then that would only result in a permanent account deactivation.
I actually experienced this when this hacking incident happened. So I was just going to play housing that day, and I saw that my Hypixel Friends were online so we kept playing housing for a few hours, But for some reason I kept getting disconnected over and over and couldn't get back into the server for a while. But I knew that it wasn't my internet connection, about 15 minutes later I joined back then didn't think about it any more, but 1 hour later I was just play In my friends house 4-5 minutes later my friend left. I was really confused because I know he has really good internet so he couldn't have gotten disconnected and if he had to leave he would have said something before leaving the game. Around 20 seconds later I get disconnected for a strange reason... I go to my server list and The MOTD was the weird one that Contains the account "8" I was really confused on why Hypixel changed it I tried to join back, but I just kept getting disconnected for that same strange reason. So after that I tried doing some research found nothing Because the hacking incident just happened, I went offline for about 1 hour and did some more research and that's when I found out Hypixel Was Hacked.

5:48 that is actually zuiy in the gun pic, he was a well known potpvp player who was notoriously toxic to everyone. He is also known as "GBO Gaston" I doubt he had anything to do with hypixel though
I dont know if you guys know but GBO is a common name used by a old minecraft HCF player called "Zuiy" he was mainly known for his ghost cheating and his raps he would make about the HCF and PotPvP community. His most popular song is the "Vape" song. Which is a very popular ghost client for minecraft. After being harrased away from the community he became a rapper known as "GBO GASTON". I dont know if this is the same GBO "the talking bear" but that is him in those twitter profile pictures
There was legit another thing yesterday where everyone lost their skin and got replaced with Alex, Steve, a glitched skin and some Walmart Steve. Chunks weren’t loaded in either and other servers stopped working (e.g. PvP Legacy)

The obsession with 8 is in hopes of getting it banned. So that the previous owners can't recover it if it does ever get unlocked by mojang. Basically they're hoping mojang sees the alleged affiliation with "hackers" and the account "8", then perma ban/delete the account so there is zero possibility of it ever being recovered.
Its such a pain to always have those certain people who want to take servers down. Still though its free content I suppose Also wow doing this in 1 school day you are insane
They could actually get your IP even by just visiting the hacked website, although they wouldn't be able to associate it with a minecraft username. It's also fairly hard to doxx with just a username and IP. IP will tell you the city or county of the user, but not much more specific than that. Unless they have access to an ISP or government, which is unlikely given how amateurish the attacks seem.
Yeah, the website could've also given them an IP but that database would be fairly useless, not to mention there's a chance they didn't even have access to that because we aren't 100% sure how they gained access to Hypixel's domains. And doxing is just the revealing of personal info, no? The username/IP being released together would be enough to be considered a dox IMO
@@mcbyt If they got access via any DNS related exploit, they could get the IPs of site visitors. I guess I was thinking of doxxing as more like revealing name/address/phone number etc, and it could be an issue for high profile players if even their general location got leaked.
My favorite thing about these attacks is that half the communities panic is about not being able to play their favorite Minecraft server (that they all ironically call crap) rather than the fact that their personal information could have been leaked

It might be worse then only for the people connecting to their server, even just refreshing your server list or opening it sends a ping to the server that can be detected, they dont have your username in that vase but still your ip!
What I find the weirdest is ppl were saying "Hypixel is down"... On Hypixel. I played all night and had no problem, I found out about it the day after 😐 (I didn't have to relog in so I should be ok)
I have no idea how the login system of websites work but I could imagine that the fake website the hacker setup could have logged stuff the client (javascript) send to the website to automatically login without reentering your password again and this could be abused after the site is back online. (Websites save cookies in your browser to save your login session but idk how this kind of stuff gets send to the server)

The hacker would now be able to use the authentication cookies to login under other users name. We wouldn't even know if it was really the case because this could have been done secretly (beside someone really looked at the java script files at the time the website got hacked) Hypixel could patch it easily by deleting everyones last session and forcing everyone to login again with username+password
I think at the time this video went up, that knowledge wasn't public. I'm also not entirely sure that they even have the actual database, but it's certainly possible

I don't think the IP Adress is a big issue. Very few people use static ip adresses, so for most people it doesn't really matter.
