I still have an old carbon bike with rim brakes. Usually, aligning the wheel to center solves my problem. Lucky, no other adjustment made after installing a new pad and did adjustment for that.

How can a rim brake be out of center if it's self centering mechanism by definition?
Well, it can. The issue was with all these mounted with a top center screw to the fork or frame rear. Dual mount solved the issue.
