I have been attempting to learn the choreography, or at least my interpretation of it. I'm giving myself a full 3 months to even memorize the steps, let alone master them. To me, learning this dance, feels like an ancient ritual I can partake in each time I dance. As a dancer, this is the most powerful dance sequence I have ever seen in my entire life. Never have I been so moved and so compelled to learn these positions. Luckily I'm also a Hatha trained yoga teacher, and many of these moves remind me of ancient warrior positions. I can also feel the palpable divine feminine energy that truly is magical~ Beautiful, Very powerful.
Agreed. Suspiria 18 is a film I will come back to periodically. I also agree, Damien Jalet is an amazing choreographer. I've watched several of his dances and I am always transfixed.
I really would love to learn it too or just find a place that will help me learn to dance like that. what would you call that type of dance, what should i look for?
rewatching this after Madonna invited Damien to direct the choreography for her last two tours and I can spot a lot of similarities/inspirations from both Suspiria and the original choreography

That's really cool, hope it's going well! I love Suspiria '18 so much, and this ritualistic dance (along with a lot of Damien Jalet's other pieces).

This is neat. Really cool to see them side by side.
Thanks!! I’m surprised you could see this because it was blocked from copyrights.
Les Medusa’s is scarier honestly, it feels like it’s in some sort of liminal space compared to how well lit and ground Suspiria is
This is the most beautiful dance I have ever seen🌹

The body....is a tool to communicate. ❤
Oh it's about the entropy and a birth of a new woman and the destruction of old paradigm
Iconic iconic iconic
*Damien Jalet.
amazing
This is the most uncomfortable dance scene I’ve ever seen
It's about entropy and birth of a new woman that destroy old paradigms
Nix that its the same choreographer
So creepy
Oh wow the choreographer copied maybe but this is pretty common modern dance nice post
It's actually the same choreographer for both :) Damien Jalet. Check out his other work. He specializes in ritual dance, ethnomusicology, etc
